The place itself is really nice.. Love the decor and the theme related posters.. The staff were nice and friendly.. The service was ok... Place was a wee bit drafty and cold at times.. we ordered one well done and one medium rare.. I was surprised that the lady serving us the meal never asked who's was what.. Anyway all was OK because we got exactly what we asked for... Finished that all up then waited about 10mins for the scotch whisky coffee.. That didn't arrive at all.. So instead of going up and asking for it.. I decided not to bother and just head home as I was feeling shattered.. Basiclt didn't want to make a fuss.. However Normally when there's a special on.. You get that special.. So in a nut shell... The service at the start was nice and friendly.. But after that.. There was none.. Not even at the end when paying for the Bill.. Was I made aware of the scotch whiskey coffee.. Maybe it was getting late and close to closing time and the staff just thought.. Hope they don't want the coffee.. Pitty.. As the place is really nice too.. 2 stars

Very cool restaurant! The booths made from train seating was very unique. The service was great and the food was amazing. I had the steak and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned!

We haven't been to Carriages for a while because we knew from past visits that the service could be eccentric but we thought we would try it again. I didn't check my watch at the beginning but judging from when we left the car I estimate that we waited almost an hour for our meal. The excuse when we asked was that salmon took longer to cook. I checked when I came home and found that it only takes 4 to 6 minutes per half inch at the thickest part which means that it should have taken a maximum of 12 minutes. When it finally arrived both meals were good, well prepared and generous portions but by then our dining experience was ruined. We will not be back for a very long time again.

I live in Larne and would occasionally use Carriages and would recommend it to any visitors and locals alike. The food is freshly cooked so yes, you do have to wait a few minutes. I had the chicken Maryland which was lovely and fresh, the pizzas are also great! Staff are friendly and helpful. If you enjoy a beer it's also fully licensed !

This beloved Bistro, has been opened for a gd few yrs in Larne Town. Sadly all services have gone down hill fast as 3 yrs. No one seems to care anymore, money is there gain now, you can't blame every damned thing on the COVID. That's what there excuse would be, just like most places do now, no matter what field!

Always amazing! Food is always fresh and the staff are lovely, takeaway pizzas are unbeatable!

Just fantastic food in a unique atmosphere. Pizzas and pasta are fabulous, but don't overlook the turkey and ham option. As good if not better than the day it opened as Carriages, the guts of forty years go. Book a carriage for the full experience.

This place is famed amongst my Northern Irish family and I have only recently been able to visit, on previous trips home COVID was happening and the other time we tried to order a take away but the wait was too long. To finally be able to visit properly and sit inside and have the full experience is something else. It never clicked that the name related to trains I thought the old fashioned horse drawn things. The service is excellent, cheery staff and made to feel very welcome. The food is something else, I went for a gourmet don pizza after hearing so much about it and it did not disappoint, it's packed with flavour and so filling, I had a nine inch one and still couldn't eat it all, my partner went for a roast beef, and the beef was amazing, full of flavour and cooked to perfection, I nearly regretted my choice. Then came the bill just over £30 for 2 these prices don't happen in the UK. It's somewhere I will definitely be going back to.
