The
entry
fee
is
cheap
(a
mere
100
NOK)
and
last
throughout
the
day,
and
gives
access
to
both
the
exhibit
and
gildehall.
The
exhibit
housed
roughly
10
glass
cases
with
items
dug
up
from
one
of
the
mounds,
some
of
which
contained
fairly
impressive
reconstructions.
By
the
entrance
into
the
museum
there's
a
replica
of
one
of
the
runestones
located
in
Sweden.
Anyone
can
take
a
stroll
through
the
park,
free
of
charge,
and
contains
numerous
mounds
as
well
as
a
view
of
where
there
once
used
to
be
a
large
port.
Unfortunately,
there
seemed
to
be
little
information
about
the
mounds
and
their
condition
beside
speculations.
The
gildehall
is
a
large
and
impressive
piece
of
art,
surrounded
by
a
palisade
wall
to
keep
the
sound
out,
and
I
was
fortunate
to
get
to
spend
an
hour
talking
with
the
host,
who
was
dressed
for
the
occasion,
while
she
kept
the
fire
lit
and
was
making
a
basket
out
of
straws.
While
the
exhibit
and
information
revolving
the
mounds
was
a
bit
lacking,
it
was
well
worth
the
visit
to
see
the
inside
of
the
gildehall
with
my
own
eyes.
The
museum
also
has
some
nice
trinkets
that
you
can
purchase.
