I’m not the one who usually complains but feel obliged to add a fly in the ointment of all these positive reviews by sharing our experience with the service at this place. Having read all the laudatory reviews, my wife made a reservation on her name for a dinner at this restaurant. It happened I arrived 5 min. earlier before our reserved time. There was a terrace and absolutely all the places were free there. I asked the waiter if we can sit on the terrace but he told me that our table was reserved for the inside (though nobody asked my wife where we prefer to sit when she was making a reservation). However, waiter told me I can have a seat on the terrace and have a drink while waiting for my wife to arrive. I went to the bathroom first and ordered a glass of beer right at the bar where this waiter was serving it. Then I went outside and took a seat at one of the tables on the terrace. I waited there for about 10 min. but my beer wasn’t still served. By that time my wife had already arrived, however seeing such treatment, we were not rushing to go in and decided to wait a bit until the guy would eventually bring my beer. As you can expect, it didn’t happen nor we were invited to enter the restaurant. Of course, we didn’t have any desire to eat at this place anymore and just left. As I said, there were a plenty of tables on the terrace but I assume that waiters just didn’t want to bother to serve them. Not a very good treatment towards your customers…👎

This place is easily a must-visit if you are in Las Palmas and are looking for great, inspiring, and innovative food. De Contrabando is a 4 people team that will delight your taste buds, recommend quality food and is a great entertainment for the whole evening. Here is the concept: from a menu of circa 15 dishes you pick 1-2 per person and the you will share them during the evening. Dishes are rooted in the GC cuisine (or Spanish) but take inspiration from all over the world, which gives this place a totally unique experience that cannot be compared with normal, standard restaurants.

It was without a doubt the best restaurant we visited in Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Tapas-like portions are served, each of which were excellent. Especially good was the catch of the day. We can recommend the restaurant to anyone. Keep in mind that the food costs more than in other restaurants in the area (about 75 EUR for a dinner for two including drinks) but the fresh and delicious food absolutely justifies these prices.

Food was good, but too expensive and did not live up to expectations.

We booked the restaurant for lunch at 2pm. We arrived in time but were asked to wait outside, since one guy was still busy with cleaning. After 10 minutes we finally got in and ordered the degustation-menue. Before ordering I told the waiter about the seafood-allergy of my wife, although the dishes didn‘t indicate any seafood-ingredients. To our surprise we were informed, that 4 out of 5 dishes include oyster-sauce and that no alternatives are available. The waiter explained, that the kitchen-style is fusion and therefor oyster-sauce is needed, which is a complete nonsense. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience created for us the waiter and the chef got upset and we decided to leave the restaurant after we had our aperitives. We ended up at Bevir, which was a wonderful experience with great staff. Also need to add, that the women-toilet didn’t have any toilet paper. Overall, even if the food might be nice this restaurant doesn’t qualify as a Michelin-recommendation from my perspective. Double minus goes to the staff and chef for the unfriendly behaviour and handling of the situation.

A high quality tasting menu, I especially liked fish ceviche and mushroom tartare - it was a very special dish that I've never tried before. Many dishes are influenced by Thai cuisine and all plates and pots we had on a table were really beautiful (made in Turkey)

A genuin small establishment in Las Palmas, with a fusion of spanish and Thai taste. The menu is small but all dishes are very tasty! It seems to be very creative and experimental, also the chef seems to have made his very own sauce tribute to the fameous Sriracha-sauce, that together with other spicy sauces that he sells directly on his homepage with great pride! A great experience for me snd my gitlfriend, also we were given a ”farewell” shot after payment as a nice gesture, which i appreciated.

This restaurant is extremely creative in flavor and style. We got 5 dishes, I highly recommend these: pork gyoza, crispy lamb , curry beef and cerviche. The white chocolate mousse has a surprising interesting twist, you should definitely get it. I love the red vermouth recommended by our waiter. Service is excellent. Definitely the best restaurant on the entire island.

Phenomenal experience with great fusion food and excellent interaction from the Restaurant team to explain and engage you in the cuisine. Relaxed, dining environment. It will make your evening a top dining experience. After living in Thailand for 9 years, this experience is a great combination of Asian and modern flavours. Make sure you eat dessert. Well done to the whole team.

Unique and tasty food, personal and friendly service. The best "fancy" meal we had in Las Palmas (even better than the highly ranked Deliciosa Marta!). Especially loved the prawn tartar with mushroom mousse.
