The guy at the site selling tickets was very knowledgeable about the history of the site and the area, very enthusiastic in sharing information, super friendly and really made the visit special. A great place to learn about the history of the island. However, it's probably not easy to get there without a car. The view from the site was amazing too, definitely worth a visit.

A small historical site that worth to take a small walk if you come across around the area. It is not a big site and it took us around 30 mins to finish. The entrance fee was €3 and it was a small contribution to the maintenance and administrative expenses which we think it is a good way to support the local to preserve the historical sites. There was "parking" space opposite to the site and a toilet available. The staff in the reception counter was very friendly and cheerful.

Very interesting place with a fascinating history. It’s a quick visit of about 30 minutes, and you have to pay a small entrance fee to get it (2-3 euros) in order to keep the place in good order. I thought this was definitely worth it. Interesting archeological site!

An excellent archeological site and a must visit. Google maps takes you to the wrong location so use the photo of instructions in my review to go to the correct place. There is enough parking at the site as the place is not that busy. Place also has restrooms if you need, but will have to ask for keys from the guy at the ticket window. Guy at the ticket window is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Tickets are €3 per adult. Site is still active as archaeologists are still doing research on how the site was used as granary.

The reason why they do not actively advertise with this sight is a mystery to us. It was impressive and an amazing bit of history of the island. Should be a must visit!

The guy working the ticket desk was an absolute pleasure. During our short visit we heard him switch between too many languages to count. He took the time to help us create an itinerary to see the north side of the island. Exceptional customer service!

Cenobio de Valerón in Santa María de Guía de Gran Canaria is a captivating archaeological site that takes you back in time. This complex cave system, boasting 298 compartments over 8 levels, was ingeniously carved into volcanic rock, serving as a vital granary. What's fascinating is the way they preserved their precious crops - sealed behind doors made of wood, stone, or textiles and secured with ashy mortar. Exploring the interconnected caves, you'll find remnants of an ancient civilization, including idols, paintings, ceramics, and even human remains. It's a journey into the island's rich history that's well worth experiencing.

it’s well worth a visit, and it’s doable in city shoes. it can be frightening if you’re afraid of heights, but it’s totally safe. €3. They have bathrooms across the road.

Beautiful view from the top. Difficult to find at first, because waze and google leads in a different direction. The guy who sells the tickets is very friendly and knows a lot about the history, also about our home country - LITHUANIA 🎉👏🏻

Amazing place for history and archeology lovers. The views are also stunning. Very well preserved site with nice staff. The entrance price is almost nothing and you can combine it with other 1-2 archeological sites on the island. There is toilet downstairs near the parking spot (where not more than 5 cars could park).

A must see when visiting Gran Canaria. The cavities within Cenobio de Valerón were used as a silos by the people that first arrived on the island. It is somehow an 'unusual' archeological site. Entrance fee: 3€ Visiting time: max 30min

An interesting place in the history of the island. A short drive from the motorway winds along a mountain hugging road to the small parking area. Steps lead via the entrance (fee payable) to the metal viewing platforms where the caves can be seen. There are plenty of informative boards explaining the history.

A magnificent archeological site featuring the lives of the Canarians. Majestic views are up there. Be ready for a mini hike up the steps.

It is located in the north of Gran Canaria. A valuable archaeological site. It contains more than 300 connected silos dug into the soft rock. In them, the old Canarians stored grain. Entrance is paid. There is also a parking lot, but not big enough because it is located next to the road. There is also a beautiful view of the surrounding hills, Atlantski ocean and banana plantations

Great site of interest in Gran Canaria, well preserved with good signage in Spanish and English. The stairs are steep but 5 mins gets you to the top. There is a toilet, key at kiosk. Andrei at the kiosk was kind and helpful. Views are great too. Parking limited to about 10 vehicles on roadside but we got our minibus in OK. We had a joint ticket for entry to tombs at Maipés de Agaete.

It is located on the side of the road. Small parking available with toilet(which is closed by default, so no use of it). Short stairs to the entrance. The basic entrance is 3eur for adults. There is an option to pay 5eur and visit another site. We spent around 15mins there. There is no much to see, but it is nice and informative. You can read all of the historic details on english also.

Very Nice place. A must If You want to understand Canary Islands prehispanic history. The lady at the ticket office was very helpful and was very happy that they reopened after the Covid pandemic

While this is a fine and useful exhibit of early aboriginal architecture, I visited when the temperature hit 37 degrees and I was unable to visit for more than 30 minutes. The view is truly amazing though.

Those caves are not a big thing. There's an entrance fee (it was 3 Euros ). The most interesting thing for me was the view from there. There's a small parking next to it and toilets. Unless you're really into the history of the island, you might be disappointed like we were.

Interesting Archeological site. Not very big, so 30 minutes is enough to visit. 3 euro fee per person. We were staying in Playa del Ingles and combined a visit to here with a visit to Teror and Las Palmas. Was a fine day trip by car. Be aware that you have to climb steps. If you are walking with difficulty, this place is not for you.

Small winding roads eventually lead us to this amazing little place on the side of a mountain. Amazing views. The natives of the land at the time brought surplus food and valuables here to be safe from Invaders. Very interesting place.

A lovely archeological site. It's fast to see and the surrounding area is beautiful. I'd highly recommend visiting if close but I wouldn't drive far out of my way.

Interesting site up in the mountains overlooking the coast, with spectacular views into the surrounding ravines. The dozens of small caves carved into the mountainside by the island's original inhabitants are an impressive and unusual experience, and there's plenty of information about them alongside the metal stairs and walkways which get you a close-up view of the main area. It's in an isolated location, so the only access is a narrow, winding road with sheer drops on the side, and there isn't much parking available. Even in January we had to wait a couple of minutes for someone else to leave before we could park properly. Well worth a visit though, and entry was only €3 each, which is a bargain.

Interesting view, worth to get there even just for the views on the island on your way (it's not on the main highway - bit of a detour that you'd not normally take). Parking is extremely limited - 4-5 cars maximum.

Nice place, impressive surroundings. Consider there are ~200 steps to reach the top

It was nice but a bit underwhelming. The site is not that big and you cannot access the small caves- for obvious reasons. I wanted to go hiking around to fill my day hiking tracks around were closed because of landslides. I hope they fix that soon.

Short and sweet visit. There are plenty of information boards to read. The view from the base was closed due to works when we visited.

A small place, with a history of local culture. It's interesting, you will see it all in 15 minutes, part of it was probably being repaired. Consider whether it's worth a visit. Beware google navigation will take you from the other side of the hill and you will have to return. You can buy some goods there and there is friendly service.

Very nice hotel, compact and comfortable. Food is really good and always topped up so you never go short. The staff are more than friendly they are genuine. 10 minutes walk to beach and dunes. A free shuttle bus leaves hotel at 10 and pick-up at beach at 16 00.

Really unique and interesting "cave town". Beautiful views and photo places. Definitely worth 2-3 Euros.

  • 5/5 Florin R. 7 years ago on Google
Driving there is breathtaking, also the view from the cave is beautiful. Price is not so high, 3 euro, there is a gift shop at the ticket office. You can learn something useful about native Canary inhabitants there at the cave.
