Not a very nice hotel when you are looking for a relaxing holliday, rooms are dated, dirty yellow stains on spare pillow that was in the cupboard. Breakfast was abysmal with next to no choice and very poor quality food. Bog standard rooftop terrace with a pool, thats if you can stay still for how windy it is up the top floor. The views from around the hotel are of back streets, almost like being in America not in the canaries! It was that bad that we paid for 5 nights and only stayed 1 night. The whole area is a dump unless you head to the beach, back streets make you feel very uncomfortable, not very inviting.I would not recommend this hotel for a relaxing holliday in gran canaria, go to the south! Weather better, nicer scenery and better hotels for the same money you will pay here!

For a city centre hotel in the one the busier areas of Las Palmas, the Astoria is well placed. All of the attractions are within walking distance, or are a short walk to a bus stop or taxi rank. There are plenty of beaches to choose from and a vast array of seafront bar/restaurants. The hotel restaurant could be a little crowded during breakfast times, and the rooms could use a light refresh. There are two lifts one of which goes from floors 0-5 & the other from floor-1 - 5. Floor-1 is where the restaurant is located and floor 5 is the rooftop terrace, swimming pool, with sun loungers, and the terrace bar. The hotel is also wheelchair accessible with easy access from the street to the reception area. All rooms have a safe, which can be hired at €2 per day, with a €5 deposit, refunded upon returning the key. If you are planning a city break, then this hotel is well worth the money.

Hotel to flee, this one is not up to standard. We have no ventilation in the bathroom, all the joints and window frame were full of mold and they had removed the wrist from the bathroom window so impossible to open and no ventilation. All knowing that I’m asthmatic and allergic to mold and that I have an inhaler. And at the reception no one does anything Yet when we saw the room next to it we saw a wrist at the bathroom door and the maid told us that we just had to ask at the reception to be able to open it.We laughed at nansun technician came to put it on. Menthol spray in the bathroom to hide the smell!!! And the when you explain to the manager that in the next room there is a wrist , you ask him why there is no ventilation he has no answer to provide you. I am not talking about breakfast or you are told that you can eat from 7:30 am to 10 am and in fact, depending on the floors you learn that there is a preferred hour depending on your floor and that you must also wait for someone to place you when there is an elevator or people can come down without queuing.Really all staff contradict each other, a special mention to Kevin the very unpleasant waiter, in 20 years of travel c is the first time I put a comment like this.Really run away don’t get screwed like us

Hotel is roughly a 40 - 50 Euro taxi away from the airport. Hotel is located near a beach and has two supermarkets within a couple minutes walk at most. + A casino nextdoor. The hotel itself is more than nice enough, however, there is SIGNIFICANT ISSUE. The issue is that there are A LOT of ongoing roadworks outside of the hotel, bringing down the overall finish of the area. This IS NOT the hotels fault, but it did impact our trip and upon arrival, made me think "what have I booked". Checking in was pleasant enough. Hotel staff have a decent comprehension of the English language which is great because our Espanol is poor at best. The room is more than adequate, plus you get two room keys, one can be left in the room to allow constant flow from the air-conditioning. Ideal for ghostly looking pale-skinned Brits and alike. We opted for Half-Board, the morning breakfast was quite nice with decent options. Evening meal was more than pleasant, with good quality food & ingredients, although it's VERY limited. Due to the lack of choice of an evening time, we ate out, not an issue as I only booked Half-Board over Bed & Breakfast because it was a couple quid more per person. So having said that, even if the evening meal was extremely poor, it cost so little extra over bed & breakfast, it would have to be a disaster to be disappointed. This hotel has a 5th floor rooftop bar with pool, a pool table, lots of indoor & outdoor seating, plus a large room with huge flat screen TV, which showed football most evenings, this was very welcome. The bar itself, drinks are cheap enough, their two beers of choice are Tropical (330 ML cans) or Dorada on draft, small or large, large being 500 ML, no pints in the canaries! A large beer on draft cost €2.50 & a cocktail was €5.50. They also do lovely bar snacks, these cost quite a lot! But if you're hungry it's all pleasant enough but not cheap! Overall decent place, would go again, the condition of the surrounding area let this place down, but it's not their fault. The gentleman on reception explained that the workman are extremely slow, the roadworks had been going on Monday - Friday for over a year! I cannot comment on when this work will be finished resulting in a nicer stay. 7.5/10

I had a budget room (my choice) which was clean and comfortable, although no views of anything and no balcony. The shower was a little small, but adequate. Everything was clean, there was plenty of space and the air-conditioning was very welcome. The breakfast was good; plenty of choice, although a little sparse in the fruit department. Great facilities - rooftop pool, gym and lounge area.

This hotel was spotless, the staff very friendly and receptionist very accommodating. Although there are no balconies in this hotel, there is a nice terrace to sit in and smokers can sit here with a drink. ( it would have been nice to have terrace opened from around 8am though instead of 10 am as im an early riser and would have liked to sit with my cuppa there instead of standing outside the front door)We went B@B only, and there is always plenty to eat for breakfast with a range of food. There are supermarkets within easy reach and it's 2 blocks behind the hotel to the beach. It was a city break, so expect to do a lot of walking to get to outlets/ shopping malls, etc, but the town is like a 25-minute easy stroll to get to. All in all, a good stay.

Very clean, well situated, close to the ocean, car park nearby - 2 min walk, fair prices, can book for a week with no issues. Good food, although breakfast could have more local food - mainly cereals and English breakfast. Personally, when going abroad, I'd like to try local food. Anyway - can't fault them. And the service - amazing staff! Thank you for such great service!

The hotel is perfectly located next to the beach Playa de las Cantreras and directly downtown in Las Palmas. In a five minutes walk you can reach the Shopping Mile starting with the famous Plaza the España. It’s the perfect location for having a mix between sightseeing and beach vacation. The equipment of the hotel isn’t modern but it has his charming through the employees who are very nice and caring and professional. I want to point out that each corner of the hotel is permanently clean although it’s a big hotel. I felt treated very well and I was having a very nice stay there, especially thanks to the very smart receptionist Christian.

very friendly receptionist, great atmosphare and really delicious food. The breakfast is amazing, every kind of food tastes great. the Hotel itself is near the beautiful beach and near many restaurants and Cafés. There is a casino near the hotel, a sauna and a pool, even a bar. Im spending a week there and love it very much. So, id definitely recommend it if youre looking for good quality food and a nice place to rest at.

Excellent location in the middle of the city. A couple of blocks from the beach promenade. Plenty of restaurants and shopping within easy reach. The hotel is in the process of renovating the rooms. I stayed in an unrenovated one. Spacious but dated. Unfortunately it meant I had to walk through some construction during my visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And the included breakfast was great.

Staff is very friendly cheerful and helpful. Rooms are more than you could expect for the price. The location of the hotel is not in a great area however it's within walking distance to a large beautiful beach. You have a good selection of food for breakfast. I could say that overall it's above average for a 3 star hotel. Parking is dificult and fairly expensive in the town however the hotel has contract with local parking space and you can save some money.

The rooms are spacious and the staff is very friendly. I just booked breakfast and it was fine. There's a small pool, a bar and a Fitness studio on the rooftop.

Firstly how are you going to have a pool that closes at 8 so many other places have pools that close much later or are just open and secondly the breakfast was poor there was no choice and the food was a really low quality

Fantastic service! Some of the staff has been really great, good breakfast options including for vegetarians, very close to the beach and very clean! Would absolutely be glad to return!

Not a bad experience. But won’t go there again. Stayed there for 4 days. The manager wasn’t so welcoming. The breakfast was good but the problem was it was the same all the days that we were there. And the atmosphere of the salon where we had breakfast was so noisy and not at all relaxing, the staff that was cleaning the dishes kept throwing them on each other and made lots of annoying noises which made me want to leave there asap since it was giving me a headache.

Fantastic experience. The hotel is very close to the beach and promenada. Multiple shops and reataurants around. Employees are very polite and will always gladly assist you with any inquiry. Rooms are clean and were cleaned every day. Unfortunately it is true that some parts seen better days. Our inside window did not close and we had problems to event open the main door, fortunately new key fixed the issue. The 5th floor is certainly the selling point of the hotel Astoria. Lots of space, with cousy armchairs, bar, pool, gym, sauna and many more. I would love to give a 5 star review, but the nick of time chewed on its facilities and the food that, while not bad, could have been a better.

I came for 4 nights at the start of April to meet an old friend who flew down from the mainland. The hotel has a great location, just a short walk from the amazing city beach, bars and restaurants which line the paseo marítimo. You can also walk to the main shopping square in 10 minutes and access the buses to the airport and the south from el parque de Santa Catalina in about 20 mins. The breakfasts are a mixture of cold and hot foods with decent coffee. Admittedly the rooms are quite dated but the bathrooms are huge and the air conditioning units are quiet. There is a fab entertainment area on the fifth floor with a bar, swimming pool, lots of places to sit, a gym, sauna and TV room. In short, a fantastically located hotel for a city break away from mass tourism in the south of the island. Highly recommended!

Stayed recently at the Astoria hotel for a long weekend. Good experience, and great for the price. Reception and check in was quick and efficient. The rooms are a bit dated, but totally acceptable and had Aircon. Breakfast in the hotel was buffet style, and was good - combination of cooked food and cold buffet. Drinks in the bar on the 5th floor were surprisingly cheap. €3.50 for a large beer and a coke. All-in-all, a good hotel in an excellent location. Recommended.

Liked it. Staff helpful and friendly, price was nice with breakfast included. Location was good, few meters from beach. The neg is, should get bit more maintenance and renovation. Example, near the toilet, the wall started breaking, handles kind lose, door, needed little push to close properly, shower curtains could not stop the bathroom to fill with water, had to put a towel daily to absorb the water, once showered and was soaking wet, dripping water. General, would come back, like the ambience, and for staying there, and go to the beach, works good :)

Fabulous for the price, loved the roof terrace and bar which was very reasonably priced, room clean and comfortable bed, staff very friendly, good location. Would come again.

This is a good old Astoria with old fashioned rooms and still very spacious. Quite a decent breakfast included + the gym, sauna, and rooftop pool and the bar. Close to las Canteras promenade and beach.

I had a very good overnight stay at this hotel. Central location close to amenities. Check in staff very helpful. Room was very nice too. Only booked a room only but was able to pay for evening meal at an excellent price of €12 for Buffett as much as you wanted. Food was very nice too. My only criticism would be to be able to change the language on the television to allow for international travellers. I would definately stay here again.
