An iconic building at the end of the Meloneras Promenade. Open 10:30 - 17:00 everyday, it is FREE entry. Today, the full exhibit (on the second floor) was not open. We could only access the ground floor and the Mirador level. You cannot climb to the top of the lighthouse. However, you do get a good view along the beach from the mirador. Toilets are available.

This was a very pleasant surprise, we thought it was just a lighthouse but turned out to be a very good museum as well. You can climb up to the roof which is the second floor which gives a good view of the coastline and the sand dunes. The little museum is excellent with lots of touch screens giving loads of information. The connection with Columbus was very informative and interesting 😁

There is an avenue next to the light tower to go for a walk. There are many restaurants and shops too. Nice views. Also there is a stone beach near the light tower.. If the review was interesting, please give me a like😉

This was a really nice surprise. Apart from what most visitors write about this lighthouse, we were very impressed with the small museum housed in this building. It gives one a glimpse of the evolution of craftsmanship of the locals. At the museum shop, we got the nicest (authentic made in Gran Canaria) souvenirs. I wish we knew about this place before we bought souvenirs at the touristy commercial shops.

The Maspalomas Lighthouse (Spanish: Faro de Maspalomas) is an active 19th century lighthouse at the southern end of the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, in the Canary archipelago. It lies at one end of the Maspalomas beach, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the resort town centre, next to the area known as the Maspalomas Dunes. The lighthouse is a distinctive landmark in the resort, and is the tallest masonry lighthouse in the Canaries at 56 m (184 ft) being superseded only by the more modern 59 m (194 ft) concrete Morro Jable lighthouse on Fuerteventura. With a focal height of 60 m (197 ft) above the sea, its light can be seen for 19 nautical miles, and consists of a pattern of three flashes of white light, over a period of thirteen seconds.

The wonderful day, walking across the Diunes for quite few kilometres towards the Lighthouse. The very unusual and unique landscape, fresh air, and the whole day spent in the nature. I am on the backpack holiday and I love it! Take plenty of water and protect your skin from the sun

Taxis drop you off close to the lighthouse so it is not too far to walk. A tall, thin lighthouse, which is clearly visible from all the local area, atop a box base. The next door hotel was closed for renovation and the post-modernistic brutalism of it's rough concrete design provided a contrast to the smooth lines of the lighthouse itself. Adjacent to the Playa de Maspalomas beach it is suitable for a day visit with restaurants and cafes lining the beach frontage. Finding your way back is easy, as you just look for and head toward the lighthouse, with plenty of taxis to take you where you wish to go. On the seaward side of the lighthouse there were interesting sand sculptures on the day we were there.

The Maspalomas Lighthouse is an iconic landmark on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, and it holds a special place in the hearts of both locals and tourists. As one of the oldest lighthouses in the Canary Islands, it not only serves as a guiding light for ships but also as a beacon of history and charm. Standing proudly at the southern tip of the island, the Maspalomas Lighthouse is a striking white structure that contrasts beautifully against the blue skies and the golden sands of the nearby beach. It's a sight to behold during the day, and it becomes even more enchanting as the evening approaches when the lighthouse begins to cast its warm glow over the landscape. Visitors can explore the area surrounding the lighthouse, which includes a picturesque promenade along the coast and lush gardens. The views from this point are breathtaking, providing a panoramic vista of the Atlantic Ocean and the stunning sand dunes of Maspalomas that stretch as far as the eye can see. For those interested in history, a visit to the lighthouse's small museum offers insights into its maritime importance and the evolution of the area. The entire experience is enriched by the gentle sea breeze and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The Maspalomas Lighthouse is not just a navigational tool; it's a symbol of the island's beauty and heritage. Whether you're captivated by its historical significance, mesmerized by the scenery, or simply seeking a tranquil spot to unwind, this lighthouse is a must-visit destination when in Gran Canaria.

A nice place to visit with kids. Rocks are around, so a lot of small animals can be found here. Kids are very enjoyable.

As an information point you couldn't ask for friendlier canarians, they set us up for lots of lovely side trips, just got back from the botanic gardens, Telde, Ingenio, and Aguimes all very cool.

Beautiful lighthouse. Entrance inside and to the terrace is free. I am always interested in the history of the places I visit. And the museum inside the lighthouse helped me understand the history of the island better. At your service there will be interactive screens with a brief history and photographs of the life of local residents. Information on the screen is provided in 3 languages. English, German and Spanish.

Lovely promenade walk by the lighthouse and cafes and (overpriced) shops for those who like to indulge. The walk way was busy but pleasant and goes a few kilometres I think.

Surrounded by overpriced restaurants but worth the effort. Can get busy once the tour buses arrive.

The Faro de Maspalomas is a beautiful 19th century lighthouse located at the southern end of the Maspalomas beach in Gran Canaria. It is an active lighthouse, but it is also a popular tourist attraction. The lighthouse is 56 meters tall and has a range of 23 nautical miles. The lighthouse museum is located in the base of the lighthouse. The museum tells the history of the lighthouse and its role in guiding ships to safety. It also has exhibits on the geology and wildlife of the area. The craftsmanship of the lighthouse is evident in its beautiful architecture and its intricate metalwork. The lighthouse is a fine example of 19th century engineering. The observation deck at the top of the lighthouse offers stunning views of the Maspalomas beach, the dunes, and the Atlantic Ocean. Overall, the Faro de Maspalomas is a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in lighthouses, history, or beautiful scenery.

Great place, my favorite lighthouse. On the third floor there is an observation deck with a beautiful view of the surroundings. On the first and second there is a museum. You can’t touch the exhibits, but there are okulele and bells in the corridor where you can play) The most beautiful showcase with little people and their way of life, antique miniature furniture, dishes, toys. We visit this museum quite often and every time it is interesting to see everything. The only negative is that the toilet is always closed there, or rather, there is a red fence all the time that it is allegedly closed, and today the security guard kicked us out of there. But there is no sign that this is a staff-only toilet. And the toilet was closed and there is every time we visit. I don't think the guard is right. Or put up a sign that it’s for stuff only.

Amazing, iconic building with free museum and touristic information. The lady in the information point was lovely, VERY VERY helpful and nice. She helped us plan the whole trip with a lot of tips as well. There is a free magazine available there with some most useful information. She was also very helpful regarding public transport. Very knowledgeable and helpful! I would give her 6/5 stars if I could!

Maspalomas is a very nice quiet resort. No noise at nighttime and is only a short inexpensive taxi ride to Play Del Ingles if you want to experience a more active and youth orientated Nightlife. I highly recommend this Resort to anyone looking for a quiet Holiday

Sweet place with a lot of tourists and restaurants. Be aware, there are stones in the water, it makes entering the ocean difficult
