I came here at like 4 in the morning hungry after gambling all day pretty much and got the big breakfast basket. And it was really good got full and didn't even finish it. I don't know why this place has such a low rating. Food here is the best but you do have to wait awhile for it. I saw some LVMPD officers waiting for their orders here when I was waiting for mine so you know it's good food when you see cops eating there lol.

Want to first say that the cashier was very nice and apologized for the quality of the food. That said, we ordered the two entree meal with teriyaki chicken & sweet and sour chicken along with fried rice. What we got was worse than high school lunchroom food. The fried rice was overly cooked and looked as though it my have come from a bag instead of being made fresh. The teriyaki chicken was dry and rubbery with an odd aftertaste. The sweet and sour chicken was maybe the least horrible but more bread and less chicken. Added a photo of what they gave us. Even drunk and having a super fun time I couldn't eat that.

Where's a 99 cent cocktail is always appreciated, and the staff were very friendly, there could be some improvements at least to the items we had on the menu. One was the teriyaki beef bowl. If you like the dry taste and texture of potted meat then this is a great dish. However, if you are really hungry this is a very filling meal, especially for the price. I feel like the chicken would have been a better choice. The other item was the egg rolls. They were very mushy and oily on the inside making them a bit difficult to consume. At 4.25 each I would just pass on them.

The shrimp cocktail was nice. It's a must! (I'm a big fan of seafood and horseradish!) I ate two. Also... We got a combo plate, and the portion was enough for two people. It was slightly lukewarm, but I totally understand their business process: it is way too busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so they do their best to serve fast and be prepared in advance. I wish their lo mein would be real long noodles, but it was all broken into shorter noodles, I guess it is easier to eat if you want to recharge. I recommend this place, they also have fruit plate available.

Love it! Open all night till 7am , then open again at 11am. Food was great, large portions , easy fir two to split the 2 entree 1 side for $7.99. Staff very friendly and very clean place. And it’s next to Dunkin’ Donuts for desert! Great menu variety!

I have been dining at Lanai Express for years! It's not quite as tasty as Panda express but it's always served hot and it's reasonably priced. Have never had a bad meal here. Today we just got an order of orange chicken. Priced less then $5. We just really came in for a snack. We frequently get their $.99 shrimp cocktail. And that was all we planned on getting but what we got today definitely left us wanting. After I dumped out the half cup of just cocktail sauce, what was left was about 1/3 cup of shrimp still drowning in sauce with the bottom inch of the cup chopped celery. So much sauce and so little shrimp was not what I was used to here. Bummed me out!

Ordered the special and was charged 4 times the price. Asked the clerk at register to check the charge. It happened to the people in front of and behind me as well. They didn't understand the costs (or are corrupt in business practices). Couldn't communicate or understand anything to resolve the inaccuracy. Lots of customers were already yelling and complaining, so I didn't bother to add to the situation. Overall, a horrible experience and nasty food full of gooey chicken fat and nasty flavor.

This was the place to go for their 99 cent shrimp cocktail for many years, but like everything else in Las Vegas post COVID, the price has now more then doubled being $2 and some change. I did not go for the shrimp, but instead went for the two item Chinese combo consisting of orange chicken and teriyaki chicken. The orange chicken was edible. Dried out chicken with a hard batter coating, but edible. The teriyaki chicken was another story. The sauce was more of a brown gravy. I should have looked at it closer in the display pan before ordering but did not have my glasses with me. When eating it it had a funny taste, not bad but not a teriyaki chicken taste either. I finished it and thought what a terrible last meal I just had in Las Vegas. I was leaving the next day. My flight was at four in the afternoon. I had a pastry and coffee for breakfast and bought a sandwich in the hotel I was staying at for a late lunch while on the plane back home to Chicago. Literally moments after taking off I became ill and got stomach sick. This happened two more times while in the air and twice when I got home. Thank God I didn't eat that sandwich before flying! I am almost 100 percent sure there was something wrong with the chicken and I had gotten food poisoning. I did get an email from the Fremont the next day wanting me to rate their casino since I played there and am part of their Boyd rewards program. I wrote back explaining what I thought of the quality of their food and what it did to me. Basically I got the standard reply that they were sorry and would talk to their chef. When I read the reviews on this site I now know I am not alone. Maybe others did not get sick from their food, but many do agree the food quality is sub par!

not sure of the low rating? it's perfect at 4 in the morning. it not a 5 star restaurant. Went there from another casino and they were open and had hot food. Service was good considering the line.

Stopped here quick as price was low on our first night in vegas. We were staying at the fremont hotel. This was absolutely awful. It is prepared chinese but it was gross. I orange chicken had like no meat all breading and was mushy and awful. Neither my boyfriend or I could eat it. Sweet and sour pork was rubbery. And the fried rice was awful. Beef and broccoli was the only edible part we had and at that still want good. Highly disappointing when I realized I could get prime rib at tony romas for the same price at that time. Or Head to tomo noodles in the food hall that was so good.

Place was amazing great food has tons of flavor well priced had HUGE Portions could almost not close the box. They have great staff which are always up for a good laugh, I had the steamed rice which was nice and moist. I had the orange chicken which was moist and was very saucy and tasted delicious. I had the beef and broccoli BEST THING I HAVE EVER PUT IN MY MOUTH perfectly moist, tender, and had lots of juice and flavor. 10/10 highly recommend would go again next time I’m in town

The food here wasn't super great. It is a shame because it is very convenient and the prices aren't too bad. Sadly I think there is a lot that needs to be improved here and I can't really begin where it should start. The food was not even at room temperature, it was straight up cold. 😅 I am not one to really complain to staff about bad food, so I cut my losses and decided that it was best just to share it here so no one has to repeat my mistake.

I had to give up on the beef and broccoli, due to not enough hours in the day to chew through the toughest meat I’ve ever had. I eventually realized that the beef was winning, and I would never chew all the way through it. Orange chicken fared only slightly better. So it came down to either the shrimp cocktail or the service being the bright star of the joint. Go somewhere else and pay a few more bucks.

Service is very slow! Just one person at the counter with usually a line of 2-3 people. The fried rice I think is missing shoyu and more flavoring. The sweet and sour pork not so great and the orange chicken was hard. I did love the shrimp cocktail even though they are a bunch of small shrimps in a cup. I was happy with that for $1.99! That was the best thing! I am afraid to try anything else! Did not want to waste my money it tasted junk! I can go around the corner to one of the other eateries in the Fremont for a great deal and yummy food!

We had the sweet and sour pirk with the fried rice. Very, very good. A large portion also. But, we went back that night for the footlong chili dogs. Pretty good and only 6.00

The only reason I ate what I got from here was because I was very hungry. Everything I got was dry even if it was covered in sauce. The service itself was fine. They were nice and the food was prepared so it was very quick.

LOVE VEGAS..LOVE Lanai Express at Freemont! Best known for their $ .99 Shrimp Cocktail and believe it or not it's filling and FANTASTIC.. They're even bigger than they were back in day '91-'95!¡! Great bands and entertainment definitely something for everyone 💯.. Prime Rib Sandwich is BOMB AND FOR $8-$9 you get a full sandwich and fries...sure do miss $1.99-$3.99 Prime Rib specials oh those were the days 😁. Visit Vegas if you're not into gambling the shopping is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS...ENJOY.. HAVE A BLAST!!!!!

The shrimp cocktail is no longer 1$. This was very disappointing. After so long of it remaining one of the "secret" value items in vegas, it too has gone the way of free parking.

If I could give no stars I would the food was so awful. It tasted like boil chicken in plan over cooked sauce. Everything was old.

The $0.99 shrimp cocktail is a classic (not too bad either). What was particularly impressive was the Spam sandwich. It's like a sushi roll - wrapped in rice and seaweed paper. That was surprisingly good.

It's super hard to exprain how I miss that OX TAIL SOUP they serve. That was really amazing surprise they serve such yummy soup in the middle of night at old town Las Vegas!! I had been Las Vegas couple times before for big convention in Vegas but Covid-19 banned me to back there again😣 I really miss having that soup at Lanai Express as soon as I could back there‼️🥰

Powdered eggs, bacon so crispy it dissipates in your mouth, potatoes taste funky. But one of my biggest issue is service. Why do I have to wait in line at the buffet behind people ordering buffet food but I’m ordering an item that can only be order at the register? I now have to wait 2x as long because my food now has to be cooked when it could have been working by the time I got to the register. The cashier excuse was that it’s only one register, in my 15+ years of restaurant experience at most places it’s only one; it would be different if you received a number upon waking then the order would make sense but you don’t get a number until being rang up. If you can’t multitask just say that.

Good food, but the service is a little slow. The 99 cent shrimp cocktail is excellent.

Date of visit, Monday, July 18, 2022. The 99 cent shrimp cocktails is why I go. I could eat these every day. The chinese food combo was also ordered. For the price, it was good. It could have been hotter, but I dis go at a very slow time, only one person ahead of me. The location was convenient. The staff were very nice and I waited very little to be served. I took it back to our hotel a block away. Stupid me I forgot the forks. Luckily I had a plastic knife in the hotel room with me. I'll be more attentive when visiting again tonight and tomorrow. Every time I come to vegas, I am sure to stop here, solely for the shrimp cocktails.

Reasonable/cheap prices - long and slow line though. Needed a good cleaning in the dining area when we went, but the prices made up for it. Food was average at best, but decent portions. The star was the handcut fries for like $3.99 - it was a good sized serving for sure

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! IT IS AN ECONOMIC GESTURE OF GOOD RELIABLE (SIMILAR BUT HAWAII WITH IT AND WAY BETTER) DELICIOUS CHEAP FOOD. SAME PRICE I USED TO PAY WHEN I LIVED DOWN ON MAIN STREET. 4 YEARS AGO, I'M GONNA SAY. IT WAS.

They got oxtail for $18.99 when they’re open all day but only difference is the soup is served on plastic if you’re okay with that and the Chinese before midnight where breakfast kicks in is questionable. Otherwise it’s good for just the breakfast which I’ve had. They don’t use real eggs by the way, it’s powdered for the scrambled eggs. But it’s not the only things they have though they cook more stuff in the back that you don’t see at the front line.

I've been craving a loco moco. Sadly my burger patty was burnt.. tasted horrible. The waiter never came back.. no refills on drinks. Later he drops off the check with out a word. The entire experience was terrible.

This place has been here a long time. I had not previously ordered anything but the shrimp cocktail. This year, we opted for Chinese food, and this was a bad experience. Evidently I should have looked at reviews first. The pork, beef broccoli and the orange chicken were all leftovers that had been sitting out for a long time. Taste other than that was bland. My wife and I took about 3-4 bites and threw it out. $20+ down the drain. Fremont hotel needs better than this. Service gets 2 stars because the cashier took so long with the customer ahead of us, our food sat on the counter for nearly 5 minutes while she did drinks and checked them out. Crazy slow.

First off the lady was friendly and her service was great! Unfortunately the food wasn’t the greatest. I love quick Chinese food. But the rice was bland, the noodles were bland as well. The beef and broccoli had weird hard chunks in it and my wife had orange chicken that was chewy and noticeably old. The shrimp cocktails tasted very old. I personally did like the teriyaki chicken until I bit into some nasty stuff in it. Wouldn’t go back but I’m glad it was cheap.
