Would recommend visiting before 3 PM to be able to see the butterfly habitat. Butterfly habitat closes at 3 PM - truly a wonderful experience to interact with the butterflies. Friendly staff. Lots of parking and lots to see here. Almost no wait time to enter the preserve in the afternoon. Worth visiting if you're in the area. "$9.95 adults, $4.95 children (ages 3-17), free for children ages 2 and under."

Beautiful grounds and great place to enjoy nature. Plan on lots of walking, this is a great location to hike. The butterfly house was beautiful but not very many butterflies compared to other butterfly house I've visited. The train ride was a good way to hear of the history of the preserve. Bring lots of water we had a hard time finding a spot to purchase a bottle in here and you will need it.

I love this. My 10 year old had a blast. So many interactive activities if you happen to visit Vegas. The kids will love it. The price is very affordable and worth it. We came in mid noon so the animals were hiding due to the heat. I recommend to come early as soon as it opens. Bring your bottle water they have plenty of water stations for refills. There was a live glow in the dark scorpions, interactive simulations helicopter ride, the Vegas Old Town replicas, free train ride and the costs to get in were amazing and our family learned a lot about science and history. Best of all its cooler in the inside. During summer it can get really hot in Vegas.

This is a great place to come with your family! They host events that are lovely like the black history festival my daughters and I attended recently. They also have a nice playground for the kids, and the bathrooms are clean. There is a cafe with reasonable prices located inside. There are many paths to go hiking and several museums located on the premises. The festival features live performances and music on the stage. They had chairs near the front of the stage and plenty of areas to sit with the grass carpet. During the festival, the parking was full inside, but we found parking right across the street at the church. The attendants were really nice and we enjoyed ourselves.

Springs Reserve is a hidden gem amidst the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas. Just a short drive away from the bustling Strip, this oasis offers a refreshing escape for both locals and tourists alike. The botanical garden is a serene haven, beautifully maintained and showcasing a myriad of plant species. The Nevada State Museum, housed within the reserve, provides a deep dive into the state's rich history and culture. One of the standout features for me was the educational garden. It's not every day you get to see a diverse range of fruits and vegetables flourishing in the desert! The knowledgeable staff were more than eager to share insights and answer any questions, making the experience both fun and informative. And if you're feeling peckish after all the exploration, the on-site restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience. It's the perfect spot to relax and refuel before diving back into the exhibits. In a city known for its entertainment and nightlife, Springs Reserve stands out as a unique and enriching experience. It's easily one of my top recommendations for anyone visiting Las Vegas. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, history buff, or just looking for a peaceful retreat, Springs Reserve has something for everyone.

Must visit this spectacular place! Just an amazing place for all! Families, Friends. Very reasonable prices with verity of different things to do. From a Butterfly Habitat, to Lots of activities like train ride to Moon town, Moon Town takes you back 110 years to Nevada of 1910 with a lot of replicated artifacts. Goes to the Atomic Museum and many more great places. This is a place that I will sure go back again with the Family for a full attraction day.

Springs Preserve is a true oasis in the heart of Las Vegas, offering a unique blend of history, nature, and culture. As a visitor, I was thoroughly impressed by its diverse attractions. The botanical gardens were a highlight, showcasing the vibrant flora of the Mojave Desert. Walking through the cactus gardens and lush landscapes was both educational and serene. The Butterfly Habitat was particularly enchanting, providing a chance to observe these delicate creatures up close. The interactive exhibits at the Origen Museum offered fascinating insights into the history of the region, from its ancient geological formations to its more recent human history. It's an educational experience that's both engaging and informative. The sustainability focus at Springs Preserve is commendable, and it's inspiring to see how they prioritize eco-friendly practices and promote environmental awareness. The Desert Living Center is a testament to this commitment, featuring eco-friendly architecture and sustainable living demonstrations. For families, the playgrounds and outdoor play areas provide a fun and educational experience for children. The train ride around the preserve is also a hit with the little ones. Overall, Springs Preserve is a must-visit for anyone in or passing through Las Vegas. It offers a refreshing break from the city's hustle and bustle while providing a deeper understanding of the unique ecosystem of the Mojave Desert. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, history buff, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, Springs Preserve has something to offer everyone.

It seemed like a cool place, but I wish I'd gone on a day when it wasn't full of field trippers. The throngs of kids put a damper on enjoying the day. I would visit again if there was a way to know that it wouldn't be overrun with kids.

So many things to do. You can literally spend a whole day here and still be not able to explore all. When I was there, some expositions were still closed yet I was there a whole day and believe I could spent there another day again. I have started in Nevada State Museum - that is your typical museum, from prehistoric time to modern Vegas time. Fossils, mining and minerals, local indigenous cultures, atomic testing etc. Its chronological from start to end. I have continued to Origen museum - that one is very modern, interactive, hands on museum with outdoor exposition and mini zoo. They also have a movie theater with short movie about geological origin of Spring preserve and water resources. Than I headed to botanical garden - which is all about sustainable gardening in the desert. They do also a lot of seminars. Than I took a short hike trough desert - original landscape part to replica of Boomtown - 1920ties town which was a base for Las Vegas. As you can see its like 4 different experiences in one, for one price. Loved the variety of activities you can see there. Will be back to see butterfly exposition, when it returns back.

Springs Preserve is about 2.5 to 3 miles west of downtown Las Vegas. I didn't realize the size of this place until I went on the train ride. I strongly recommend this. If you are into hiking, there are trails as well. The long history, culture, natural geography and habitat of Las Vegas and surrounding area are highlighted in the excellent exhibits. The many waves of Native people were described by the archeology of the area as well as historical record. Long before the metropolitan expansion of the Vegas Valley, springs here created "the meadows" which in Spanish is "Las Vegas". Boomtown 1905 gives a sample of what life was like at that time. A quaint village. Considering the U.S. Census shows a population of 25 in 1900 and 800 in 1910. 32 times as many people. That's a boom. The history of toys was a great interactive exhibit. There are many existing historic structures on site that have been preserved and restored. Don't forget to stop at the gift shop before you leave. Next time, I need to stop at the Waterworks.

This place always has nice displays and is so much bigger than you would expect. There's only one place to eat here. However, the gift shop is a nice size and has snacks you can purchase. Just an FYI, the gift shop does not accept cash. I highly recommend.

We absolutely loved springs preserve! The cost ($10/adult) and location (short drive from the strip) are excellent. The museums, The gardens and scenic walkways, and the butterflies exhibit were awesome. Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly. Plenty of photo opportunities available. Definitely worth spending a few hours exploring this Vegas gem. Once you're out there walk you around it's hard to believe you're in the middle of Las Vegas with 2 million people. The cafe overlooks The gardens and smelled fantastic, will definitely return to eat and drink on the balcony.

We didn't get to see it all since my shoe broke. There was so much to explore/see/learn. Neat playground nook. Informative signs and staff. Train ride was fun! Don't miss the butterfly exhibit if it's open. They had Halloween decorations up everywhere which was cool. The app is worth downloading - it's free and you can get directions to each attraction.

I'm a member that's how much I love visiting. Free parking, always something new going on to keep you coming back. The butterfly Pavilion is wonderful. Your daily admission includes the Nevada State Museum, Water Works, and Boom town. The restaurant serves delicious food. You can easily spend the entire day here.

This was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised by the size and scale of this place! So many nooks and trails to explore. Inside extractions along with outdoor activities were perfectly paired. Probably not ideal for small kids as they won't understand a lot of the "why's" but could be fun for them to burn energy by running around. Tons of shade on warm days like today. I highly recommend this Vegas gem!

This place was so much fun! We had spent the whole week drinking and gambling and fancied a break from the strip and old town so jumped in an uber to the springs preserve. Was really lovely to see some wildlife and have a walk around in some greenery. We also visited the butterfly house and museums, the space themed section was brilliant, loads of interactive stuff. I got the impression this place was primarily for kids, but me and my partner had a blast.

Beautiful. We spent several hours, and didn't get to see everything. It's educational, relaxing, and I can't wait to return with my Grandson. There's a train ride, splash pad, and the Butterfly house opens up in April. This is a great destination for the whole family.

If it was possible to give this place 10 stars I would. There is something for every age group and so much to see and do. If you are local please get down here ASAP. If you are not, please look up on line for hours and directions. Make this part of your must-dos when you are in Vegas. There is a cafe on premises but you can bring in waters and snacks. There is educational programing, hands on activities, live animals, dinosaur bones, videos, gift shop and seasonal displays that you won't want to miss!

Just bought a season pass and I plan to go back multiple times with my son! Lots of great activities to check out. The train ride to Boomtown 1905 was adorable. The Cactus garden inside the Boranical Gardens is a great photo-op spot! The butterfly gardens are also great! Be sure to check out the museum when you're there! My toddler and I are looking forward to going back for toddler reading time!

It was great! The only thing that could have made it better was if all the exhibits were open. It's still only partially open because of COVID but the State museum is open and the trails, botanical gardens and desert animals exhibit. Pretty cool still and hours of fun!

My kids truly enjoyed it. It was well worth the price and a great way to get the kids out of the house. Very educational as well. On top of being outdoors they also ensured that guests practice social distancing with sanitizing stations and reminders to stay 6 feet apart. Definitely recommend it.

Awesome experience at this 180 acre preserve, with multiple museums, plus Las Vegas town replica from 1905! Tram ride around the preserve is available, but we did not get the chance as it was closed 1 hour before closing. Get here early! Affordable ticket price at $10 maximum. Great place for kids!

Really enjoyed the museums and gardens at the preserve. Good place to spend an afternoon, great staff and volunteers. The animal and insect exhibits at the State museum were unexpected, and we lucked out that the fox had just woken up from his nap.

Finally made it to the Springs Preserve on September 1st and you can easily spend almost half a day there. you can learn about the early history of Las Vegas at Boomtown as well as learning the natural and human history of the area and Nevada. On the day I went the trails were closed due to flooding from the monsoon storms that day but they had a transportation between Boomtown and the main area of the preserve. One of the interesting features was the flash flood demonstration where you stand on a platform and have 50,000 gallons of water that will surround you. Let’s just say there will be a bit of a splash zone. They also have a temporary exhibition in the Nevada State Museum honoring Liberace as of this review. Overall, this is a great outing for families.

We love the Springs Preserve. We usually go for Haunted Harvest and missed out this year. Our homeschool group planned a meet up to visit the Butterfly Habitat so I was prompted to investigate the establishment more. After thoroughly researching the website, we decided to purchase the membership. We took all day to explore the entire Springs Preserve and were overwhelmed with the educational and interactive exhibits! I was more than blown away with all the options. We were there til closing and still didn't get thru everything. I'm so grateful to be able to add this spot to our reservoir of activities. The staff was just as impressive, thank you for making our visit wonderful!

This place is so green! 😍 Our family did not have a lot of time to visit and there were some sections/ programming closed due to Covid, but it was a lovely experience. The employees are kind and knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. There is a neat little train ride you can take through the preserve, and many areas for kids and adults alike to explore. I was looking for somewhere to go where I could connect with nature and the grounds did not disappoint.

So many things to do so little time. Highly recommended (on weekdays when not so busy). Take a day off your LV casino trip and come here instead. $10 entrance fee is worth it. Look for Cindy's garden where she gives an excellent lecture on using wet log as foundation to better gardening including how to make seed envelopes. She also talks about the crops she grows personally at the sight

I couldn’t be more satisfied with my experience at this property. The admissions member Fleicia was one of the most friendly people we’ve come across and she was so helpful with explaining everything about the museum attractions. I also really liked that they support the armed forces as well with a discount. The butterfly exhibit, the Nevada State Museum, the Origen Museum are all included in admission.

Very nice place to take kids to beat the heat or escape the chill, explore the large facilities and outdoor recreation area, talk to other parents totting their kids, watch little critters in captivity and roaming the preserve wildly, learn Nevada's prehistoric or recent history, and have traveling exhibits come through during certain seasons. All the staff can't help but say hello in a genuine manner. Top marks❤️

If you want an experience that is the opposite of the Vegas strip - but just as impressive - Springs Preserve is your best choice. This massive, sprawling nature center is great for kids and adults. From the butterfly house to the Flash Flood exhibit this place is state of the art, engaging and fun. When you need a break, hit their car with a great view, good food, and reasonable prices. Worthy of 6 stars.

Took my husband here for the first time to do something local and we both loved it, it’s actually pretty big which the outside doesn’t look like it but it’s a big property with so many different areas. We were there all day and it was really fun. Our favorite part was the butterfly garden it was so beautiful and peaceful and just unexplainable. I definitely recommend it is a lot of walking but so worth it.

This place is big and has a lot of potential to be great, but unfortunately they have lots of work to get to there operationally. The person at the ticketing booth informed us that the 1st train ride would be at 9am. We waited around 8:44am at the train stop while planning out our day's activities/tours. The line started building up with others also waiting for the 9am train, but when the conductor arrived around 9:05am, he said his 1st departure would be 9:30am. Not wanting to wait another 25 mins in the heat and to maximize our time, we headed out for the 9:30am Garden Tour at the Solar house. The signs are lacking and uninviting to many of the buildings being locked which you won't know until you try the door. We waited ~9:15am at the Solar House, but no one showed up. Attempted to do the 9:30am Desert Dwellers Pop Up Activity but nothing there either! We stopped an employee named Zack who helped us find anyone who was running any tour so we wouIdn't waste any more time waiting for nonexistent activities. Zack helped us connect with Cindy at the garden center who graciously rescued the day by giving us an impromptu tour of her garden. Cindy Dixon is awesome - you can tell she genuinely likes what she does and likes to teach! (Kudos to Zack and Cindy for rescuing our morning as none of the listed events existed - an intern didn't show up for one of the activities, not sure what the excuse was for the other events.) We did end up catching the train ride at a much later time (it runs every 30 mins), but the unenthusiastic sounding audio recording was inaudible most of the time due to the train noise. The audio recording could use a revamp to get people's attention otherwise it was basically a train ride around the complex - no stops, round trip back to where you start. We also tried to visit the souvenir store based on the maps, but you won't know it's no longer there after walking around in the heat and seeing the only door sign stating it's in some other area which we just came from and again no signs anywhere there as well. I'm glad the entry fee was only $10/person as it's not worth any more than that - a huge disappointment for such a vast place.

The visit to the springs started out very disappointing. The ticket booth advised us the first train started at 9am. When we got there, 9am came and went. Finally the train arrived about 10 minutes past 9am and we were told by the train conductor the train starts at 9:30am. So we waited around for no reason. We went to then catch a gardening show but that time slot also came and went. When we inquired, we were finally told the volunteer who was suppose to give that talk didn't show up. It would be nice if they let the customers know of these changes so they are not waiting around wasting time. Thanks Cindy for saving the day!! She gave us a very fun and informative talk about gardening. Aside from these hiccups, the train ride wasn't too exciting. The various grounds were nice. Lots of plants to look at. The Nevada museum is a must see.

I went with family with age ranges from teens to adults and we had a good time. The flash flood presentation was interesting to see and the animals seemed comfortable. At the Origen Museum within the property they had a toy themed exhibit showcasing toys over time. Didn't get to see the butterflies because of timing but would definitely return.

My wife and I were looking for something a little less Las Vegas, if you know what I mean. We decided to go here. We enjoyed the nature which is so much different than North Carolina were we are from. We took the 'train' ride around the park, which was a nice way to get a history lesson on the preserve. We didn't have any young kids with us, but the ones we saw really seemed to like the place, lots of space to be a kid.

This place is great! I really enjoyed my time at the Springs Preserve! The wildlife is cool, and all the exhibits are quite interesting. The museums were outstanding, clean, and well kept. There weren't many staff members present throughout the place when I last visited and the butterflies could not be seen despite being within open hours. However, the staff is great and friendly, and some of the areas were closed, it seems, for a legitimate reason. I recommend going with the family. Please, visit the place if you want an excellent, wholesome experience.

Such a great place to visit and so much to see with the fam! I highly recommend the Family Membership. We came just for the Butterfly Habbitat this time. Now that the Butterfly habbitat is open, it's busier. Bring an umbrella and smacks if you're coming with small children as you will have to wait in line. It's a small enclosure and they can only let a few people in at a time. Once inside, you walk in single file to exit so it moves slowly and you'll have to be patient. Afterwards you can take the train to Boom Town and explore! Such a cute look at old Vegas. We had a nice time and will be back to visit the newest exhibits in the museums.

  • 2/5 Steve W. 2 years ago on Google
We were really let down. You can no longer walk in there for free, even though it is a preserve. So we paid to support them, many things are closed and the signs are not helpful at all. If you have a family with kids you will have more to do. But if you just wanted to have a nice walk on a preserve and learn a bit about water consumption, it is a let down. Also you can no longer walk around the yellow line around the preserve as they have a train now so the close a piece of it off. See picture.

First let me say..as a Las Vegas local…I paid $9.95 to enter. Roughly half the regular admission of $18.95. That being said…it would be worth it at full price. The entire park is beautiful! All of the flowers and cacti were in full bloom. It was just an amazing display of desert beauty! The grounds are also much larger than we expected. Plan to spend several hours. I highly recommend having lunch at the cafe. The food is elevated to another level not always found at places such as this.

Visited on the weekend. The line to the butterfly habitat was ridiculously long so we skipped it. There was plenty of other things to do. We have been taking multiple trips to experience the state museum and origin museum. On a different day we went on a train ride and the kids played at the playground. Oír family feels safe here and staff is always helpful. The botanical garden is beautiful! All places are stroller friendly and bathrooms are clean. Definitely recommend an anual pass if you plan on visiting at least once a month (we do) . They also offer entrance discounts for families who have WIC or. EBT

Great place for the kids and adults to explore old Vegas and get a great history lesson. Great museum and hands-on things to explore. Boomtown train was nice, and I loved the Flash flood demonstration. It's definitely a place to see on your trip in Vegas as a tourist. Must see for locals. Cafe had a nice selection of treats, foods, and coffees. They have a butterfly farm that opens seasonally and will be on my list once it opens.

Always a blast! The butterfly exhibit didn't have a ton of butterflies, but we went on the last day. Train ride is always a kick for the little ones, and the Big Toys exhibit was fun and nostalgic. Really nice people working at this place. Always friendly and helpful.
