I love Groupon and I loved this museum. There was so much more than I anticipated, including pieces of the twin towers, a piece of the Berlin wall, educational info & photos of other testing sites, and even a copy of a letter that Albert Einstein wrote to President Roosevelt. This was really a great way to spend an afternoon!

Very interesting displays. Lots of information presented clearly; the museum halls are well laid out! Don't miss the movie, if the movie has started, don't go in... wait till the next show. Enter as before it starts; otherwise, you will miss the best part of the simulation.

Great place I have been wanting to go there for years. Finally got the chance this summer. I had a blast but I am kind of a nuke nerd. Unfortunately because of the cost my wife a daughter didn't want to go. I would recommend going if you are into history or nuclear science. hopefully i will be able to return some day and take the tour of the testing site that leaves from there.

Great museum detailing the history of atomic testing and the people involved. Regular admission rice was $24 for an adult but cheaper prices were available for certain criteria. There was a small theater halfway through with a ten minute video that included the experience of being near an atomic blast, complete with lights, sound and air pressure. We really enjoyed the museum and found a few items at the gift shop.

Such a lovely museum! A must see during your stay in Vegas. We used the Go City Pass to enter, which was really easy to use. The museum itself is great, very informative and it's just fun to go through everything and learn more about Nevada's atomic history.

The Atomic museum in Las Vegas, NV was absolutely awesome!!!! Easy drive to it and easy to find. When I pulled in they had a nice, spacious & free parking lot. You do have to purchase a pass, normally costing $29. However, there are some discounts, so enquire when you are purchasing. I had o pay $23 because I had my Mob Museum receipt. The museums has pictures, videos and displays of the beginning of atomic energy & testing of weapons till modern day. They show all facets of the atomic weapons we created. They also tell about all the places where they were developed, tested & made. They also have a small movie theater were you get to view some of the testing videos, a very informative movie indeed. They also have a awesome little gift shop to pick up trinkets from your visit there or gifts for friends and family if you are interested to learn about our atomic past & future, you must visit this amazing place.

Interesting museum. A lot of reading way more reading than I was expecting. I took a lot of pictures and I've been reading them while I was at the toilet or waiting in line. If you're smarter than me, you'd love this museum. It's super cool and they have a collection of some of the best Atomic and Nuclear stuff and artifacts. Cool museum for smart people.

The national atomic testing museum has a lot of reading. There's a lot to see. Do your research before coming in. that way when you're looking at the items you have more knowledge of them and more of a backstory. I didn't really know what I was going into when I bought a ticket for this museum. I definitely read more than I was expecting while I was here. Overall it's a good museum the staff are friendly and I'll be back again. My favorite part of the museum was the Doomsday Lemonade that I bought.

If you find yourself in Las Vegas, Nevada, and are searching for a unique and enlightening experience, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting the Atomic Museum. This remarkable establishment takes visitors on a captivating journey through the complex history of atomic science and its impact on our world. First and foremost, the Atomic Museum's commitment to education and understanding shines through in every aspect of its exhibits. The curated displays and interactive presentations are meticulously designed to convey the fascinating story of atomic science, from its early beginnings to its profound impact on society. One of the highlights of the museum is the comprehensive exhibit on the Manhattan Project, which delves into the history of the development of the atomic bomb. The depth of information and the well-preserved artifacts on display provide a thought-provoking insight into the immense scientific and ethical challenges faced during that era. It's a testament to the museum's dedication to presenting a balanced and nuanced narrative. Moreover, the Atomic Museum doesn't shy away from addressing the repercussions of atomic science. Exhibits exploring the aftermath of the bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as the arms race during the Cold War, serve as powerful reminders of the importance of global cooperation and the pursuit of peace. These thought-provoking sections inspire visitors to contemplate the consequences of our actions and strive for a better world. The museum's attention to detail is evident in its engaging multimedia presentations. State-of-the-art audiovisual displays and interactive exhibits effectively convey complex concepts in a visually captivating manner. Whether you're witnessing a simulated nuclear test or exploring the principles of nuclear energy, these immersive experiences bring history to life and leave a lasting impact. Lastly, I must commend the museum's location in Las Vegas. While the city is often associated with entertainment and extravagance, the Atomic Museum stands as a poignant reminder of the important historical events that shaped our world. Its proximity to the renowned Las Vegas Strip makes it easily accessible for tourists, ensuring that anyone with an interest in atomic science and history can explore its treasures.

I am a fallout fan so this was a must do on the list, when we visited it wasn’t super crowded but there was a good amount of people there since you can go at your own pace. We spent three hours here and still feel like we missed some small things or could’ve looked at something longer, it’s a nice way to spend a good chunk of time learning some history. Plus the staff was super friendly in the gift shop, we got some cute little fallout trinkets got to squish some Pennie’s and had a giggle at some of the other items. I definitely recommend spending an afternoon here!

I just got back, and wow I wish I went here sooner. This is one of the most incredible museums I've ever seen. The exhibits are so well done with incredible detail and a heavy amount of depth into each aspect of Atomic History within the US. While it is a bit far from the strip (near UNLV campus), it is well worth it. We spent about 2 hours here and getting back to the hotel was not too difficult, the staff was incredibly helpful in getting us a cab back.

Definitely a must see site while in Vegas. Well laid out. I recommend watching the film that walks you through the development of the Atomic bomb. Testimony from people who were part of Manhattan Project immerses one into the experience. Excellent educational experience for both kids and adults alike.

I work for the Department of Energy, so this was a neat activity! It helped me learn more about my department's history and the history of the U.S. I went with a large group that had a tour guide. It was nice to have a guide, but I left the group (at points) to explore on my own. I wanted to learn at my own pace, which I prefer and would recommend. There's a lot to learn in the museum, so take your time and take advantage of the interactive displays and gadgets, movie clips, and exhibits. READ the displays and take your pictures... just not videos (create a reel when you get home). Please do the News Nob Atomic Blast experience (that's not the official name of the theater or the experience). It was quite surreal and eye-opening! It is a little loud in the theater, but you'll experience the simulated effects of an atomic blast that the news reports heard and felt while at the Nob. The gift shop was nice. It had just enough items to pique your interest, but not so many that you would get overwhelmed. The staff was friendly, and the restrooms (women's at least) were clean and stocked for our morning tour. I'm really glad I went. BTW...I posted only a few pictures to intrigue you, but not "spoil it" for you. Happy exploring!

If you told me that I was going to have fun at a science museum, I would have told you that you're out of your mind. However, I had a great time on our recent trip as a family to the National Atomic Testing Museum. I recently read the Las Vegas Plug's guide on the best museums in Las Vegas and this museum definitely ranks up there. We had a great time learning and exploring.

So, this is a place that has been on the list for a while now. I'm a big fan of Peter Kuran's "Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie." His work is like surrealistic art; like slow-motion watercolors painted with atomic fire. The beauty and awe of blossoming explosions set to orchestra distracts from the horror these weapons were created for, and created to fight. In some ways, this museum is guilty for this as well, with a great deal of information on the development of the weapon, but little on the actual effects. This was no doubt one of the crowning achievements in American Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics but there isn't quite as much to engage young people as I would have expected either. These are minor quibbles, though. This is a science museum and it is a FANTASTIC one. Leading you through the science behind and development of atomic weapons is it's mission and it does that well. There is so much information here that reading all of the exhibits would be like finishing and entire book on the subject material. There's bombs to pose with and a giant scale model of The Gadget. There are also a few hands-on encounters for more interactive learners. Lastly there is a fantastic representation of the history of the era in several respects, from period science cartoons playing on a loop to a well dressed 1940's mannequin family in a fallout shelter. There's even a bit about science fiction! And a giant robot! The most exciting part was definitely the atomic bomb ssimulator room, where it gives you some idea about what it would be like to actually be present at a test! It's a little scary for small children but it's a very cool part of the museum. I especially like the Las Vegas connection to the testing, as it's a little more lighthearted, and a good contrast to all the science and military hardware here. All and all, A+! It's an impressive building and a blissfully cool respite from the desert heat. Parking is also much easier than most of Vegas. The staff was super friendly and when I went there were other visitors but nothing like a crowd. I was also able to take advantage of the Museums For All discount. If you have the ability this museum is an absolute can't miss. And if you're on a road trip be sure to check out The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque, New Mexico! No bomb simulator but it DOES have an Atomic Annie!

Worth every dollar. Amazing historical perspective on the history of the United States use and development of nuclear weapons and power. Regardless of which side of the political aisle you hail from, this museum is a testament to our heritage as a country and the freedom provided by, in part, our development of nuclear weapons and testing.

Fantastic museum that offers an exploration of American history and how it was shaped by the atomic bomb and the sub sequential testing/changes to testing that occurred afterward. The “blast door” theater area has a pretty interesting “4D” video and the exhibit offers insightful history into other aspects affected by nuclear testing, such as how they used the same drills used to build underground nuclear test sites to free the Chilean miners after the cave in a few years ago. There’s also a gift shop that has some fun nuclear and Area 51 themed items and you can even buy a piece of rare, authentic Trinitite!

The Atomic Museum was a blast! The facility is not huge but has a trove of interesting information to learn from. The layout is set but in a historical chronology, from the Manhattan Project, to the initial use of the Nevada Test Site with atmospheric testing, the move to underground test, the test moratorium, and the effects of atomic research today and the role atomic energy plays in our lives today. There are so many super interesting artifacts. The displays are interesting and engaging. The docents on hand are a fantastic resource! Ask them questions! Many spent their careers working out on the test range. I learned a great deal on my visit!

What's more fun than playing with the Demon Core, a total blast, and the bomb place to visit? Why you ask? It's the Automic Museum! If you love science and into atomics, then this is one of the must see places in Las Vegas. So after your pilgrimage to the Trinity site, why not make this your next destination. Also if you loved Fallout: New Vegas, there are some hidden gem's inside that will make your pip-boy light-up.

This museum is well worth a visit if you have extra time to spend in Las Vegas. I spent close to three hours here. Plenty to read throughout and the theater demonstration was unique and very cool to experience. This museum ties in nicely with the Atomic Museum in New Mexico with the Manhattan Project era as well as with more focus on the Nevadan contribution during the nuclear arms race and afterward.

Dale and the rest of the staff here at the national atomic testing museum, were fantastic and took the tour to the next level! There was so much to check out. Their little dioramas were a lot of fun to look at. They have a little theater where you get to hear about others experience with atomic blasts as well as experience an atomic blast simulation that was pretty cool too.

Super interesting museum to understand a little bit more of history and science. First start off with the movie then check the Ground Zero Experience. Then just follow the path that goes from Trinity the first bomb until nowadays and how they are taking care of the arsenal.

The Atomic museum is worth a visit; starting with the actual quarter million dollar “Robby robot” from forbidden planet to what is trinitite? Plan to spend an hour to visit the museum. It has plenty of free parking. It would be good to have close captions in all the movies at the museum and headphones. The museum is full of historical and important data of the benefits and dangers of nuclear power. Come to get educated about the atomic era. I would suggest the person at the ticket counter gets a more customer service training. This was the only bad experience at the museum. You can become a museum member for $50 which allows you to bring another person for free and get multiple entries plus 25% off in the gift shop. The gift shop has trinitite samples for sale ($45 for a small sample), which is the welded sand of the soil from the heat of the nuclear explosion at the test sites. This is a good place to come and learn more about Oppenheimer and many of the scientists like Richard Feynman , Morrison, etc that played key roles in the Manhattan Project. There is no cafe at the museum , but there are some eateries accross the street like Mint Indian bistro and a kabob shop.

  • 5/5 Tom J. 2 years ago on Google
This museum was great. If you can't get a tour of the real test site this is a close, and much easier, second option. Very informative with lots of artifacts. Some volunteers were there that had worked at the test site and gave visitors background on the displays and personal stories. Very interesting and worth the visit if you're interested in nuclear history.

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting museums across this country and have loved them all. Each offering its own unique perspective on history, the arts and other events that have shaped and inspired society. However, without question, the Atomic Museum has set the bar. By far it has been the most interesting, fascinating and informative of all museums. What I found most intriguing was the information pertaining to the Nevada Test Site (NTS). This site was responsible for nuclear testing for over (40+ years). Some workers were privy to sensitive data and witnessed highly classified field exercises that one could only imagine. Several displays depicting actual equipment were on display including the “Fat man” a four section ballistic casing shell made of thick homogeneous steel armor and weighing approximately 3,500 pounds. A steel bean from the September 11th, terrorist attack in New York City is also on display. Visitors are welcomed to sit in a simulator room which, affords them the opportunity to experience the vibration of a simulated explosion. I would definitely recommend doing this but would use caution taking small children due to unexpected loud explosions/vibration noises. This is definitely a place were school children and even adults living in Nevada will gain a new appreciation for history and the important part that the state of Nevada had in this process. Bricks are available for purchase (silver, gold and platinum packages), and are hand crafted with your personal words, which, are then placed in the ground and memorialized in front of the museum. Merchandise such as T-shirts, hats, socks and other souvenir items are available for purchase in the store. If you’re looking for an educational activity that the entire family can enjoy this is certainly one. Highly recommended!

Had a great time at the atomic museum with my partner on a cool Monday afternoon! The clerk at the front was expecting us when we had gotten there as I had purchased the tickets ahead of time! They were not very busy and we had no problem going around all of the exhibits at our leisure. As an Earth and Environmental science major, I really enjoyed how they included a land stewardship exhibit to cover the land geology/geography.

A Smithsonian affiliate, the Atomic Museum is filled with history. A wealth of information. An excellent display of memorabilia with timelines and education about atomic radiation and the construction and testing of nuclear science. Entry pricing is fair. Plan on spending about 1.5 hrs or more.

We’re the geeks who did the almost 2-mile walk from the Strip to wander through this museum for an hour and a half. This place presents the science and history of the Atomic Age in a way that’s approachable to most adults and older kids. It is not a huge facility, but they have many exhibits and videos to ponder. Of course, there’s a gift shop at the end.

Great and quite big museum if you take your time to read and dive in the history of the uranium nuclear bomb testing prior to WWII. I was really immersed. (For 2h+ coming alone) Learnt a lot about how different types of nuclear bomb testing exist (it made sense but I didn't think they'd do it underground...!) The layout, scientific explanation and history were well written!

Very cool and interesting museum full of information and knowledgeable staff who are happy to help. The atomic age is interesting anyway, but Nevada's (and particularly Las Vegas) role in atomic tourism (and... Pardon me, but the fallout from that) are really fascinating.

  • 5/5 Charlotte D. 11 months ago on Google
You have to want to learn about the history of nuclear testing to enjoy this museum, but if that kind of experience fits your interests, then this is done very well. They have plenty of artifacts and high quality signage as well as videos and audio of people who dedicated their lives to this work. I felt they showed a balanced view between understanding that nuclear weapons are horrific but the arms race was necessary to protect democracy worldwide, to end WWII and subsequently to prevent communism from sweeping the globe. There is a theater that simulates a nuclear test which is pretty intense if you are bringing children. They have the extra actual casings from the bombs that were dropped in Japan so you can see how big they were. I appreciated the interviews with the workers from Las Vegas in particular. They believed they were patriots upholding democracy despite the terrible destruction these weapons can unleash. There are propaganda films and protective measures that have been put in place to prevent further nuclear fallout from tests. It's a sobering place.

Interesting and interactive fun place. The ticket box lady was super friendly. She explained the map efficiently and effectively. All the staff was very helpful. A gentleman was in the museum ready for any question you may have. The theatre was a great experience, and it lasted about 15 minutes. The total time we spent was about 1 hr and a half, and that was rushing. The souvenir shop had affordable, cute, and interesting merchandise. It is a must, especially for fallout fans.

This was a super interesting place to visit! You only need 1-2 hours for your visit. The history of Nevada and comparisons to pop culture kept it entertaining. I loved the ground zero theater that simulates what an atomic explosion would feel like.

I really enjoyed the museum, it had a great layout and lots of interesting information we usually don't get to learn about. It's just heartbreaking we feel the need to still have these weapons knowing the destruction they cause.

If you're looking for a fascinating and educational experience in las Vegas, look no further than the Atomic Museum. I recently visited and was blown away by the wealth of information and exhibits on display. The museum provides a comprehensive history of the nuclear weapons testing that took place in Nevada during the Cold War, and the impact it had on the state and the world as a whole. I learned so much about the science behind these weapons, the people who worked on them, and the devastating effects of nuclear fallout. What really impressed me was the attention to detail in the exhibits. The museum has done an excellent job of recreating the look and feel of a nuclear testing site, complete with authentic artifacts and equipment. I also appreciated the interactive displays and multimedia presentations, which made the information more engaging and accessible. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the museum's mission. Overall, I highly recommend the Atomic Museum to anyone interested in history, science, or current events. It's a thought-provoking and engaging experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Amazingly museum, the attention was awesome and we got to be nerds for a couple hours. We learned a lot of things and everything just felt immersive.

This is a small, but interesting museum. Note, the Go Vegas Explorer pass says this is an included attraction but the museum staff says it is not included. They offered us a Groupon deal instead.

Fantastic museum. Had a great time, exhibits were interesting and informative. If you are looking for something in Vegas to mentally stimulate you, this is the place. A great self-guided museum that allows you to spend as much or as little time at each exhibit as you want.

If you're looking for something to do in Las Vegas that isn't gambling or drinking and maybe you'll learn something this is the place for you. A great self-guided museum that allows you to spend as much or as little time at each exhibit as you want. My adult son and I went and thoroughly enjoyed the entire Museum.

A well thought out museum. We are the 1st nuclear power and everyone who can visit this museum should do so if for no other reason than that. However, this museum provides an in depth looks at Nevada's role in this history. A bit insane viewed 50 years later, but clearly something that was real and so.ething we all need to know.

The museum had all the info you’ve ever wanted about atomic testing in general- and all sorts of info on Nevada testing. This is an older style museum with lots and lots of reading- and, of course, all of the interactive parts were shut off for Covid. If you’re interested in atomic history, definitely come. If you’re not, you probably won’t enjoy it.

A blast (literally, in one exhibit) from the past. Educational on the above ground & underground weapons testing that occurred following WWII both at sea and on the doorstep of Las Vegas (!) until the comprehensive test ban treaty of 1990's. Culture of the 50's and 60's also on display. Many artifacts, from the real to the surreal. While being educated, be prepared for Cold War emphasis and a bit of the associated communist menace paranoia. Gave our party reason to leave a bit sooner. Think of Dr. Strangelove.

It's very informative on near history. So much too learn even if you think you know a lot already.

Informative and thought provoking. It will definitely fascinate, and trouble you, all at the same time. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to seen the science that built the modern world, and maybe take away some lesson about where we might head in the future.

Awesome museum, extremely detailed and educational on all things Atomic Testing related! LOTS to read about, and will easily take you multiple hours depending on how much reading you complete. They have a small gift shop, and a movie theater that simulates what it was like to see an atomic bomb. Lots of history about Las Vegas, as well as testing in general. Fascinating part of history and makes you see Vegas in a different light!

This place is great. A wealth of information. You could spend hours absorbing all the data they have available on display. Hardly any people when I was there and had a very delightful time.

Great museum! Kids struggled to follow a bit of the history and science without our help. Different flow/organization of the content might have aided in comprehension. But overall great!

😐 Museum? If this is a museum, then every plaque on the side of the road is now a national park. This is a small aviation history display that you can easily miss even if you're careful. I actually missed it, and when this popped up on maps I thought "How did I miss a whole museum at the airport?". T...

👍👍 Jonathan is the most incredible curator and tour guide. This was the highlight of my visit to Las Vegas with my daughter who is a pianist. I’m a former local and enjoyed the previous museum, but Jonathan has a true love and passion for all things Las Vegas and Liberace. He is a local celebrity, d...
