I
feel
there
is
a
long
term
study
that
is
exploiting
my
father
who
is
83
years
old
for
data
in
a
long
term
study.
He
has
had
increased
impulsivity,
classic
signs
of
dementia
and
erratic
behavior.
He
has
been
going
there
for
almost
5
years
now
for
a
long
term
study
for
dementia.
Every
time
he
has
been
“passing
the
cognitive
test
with
flying
colors.”
Yet
the
doctor
conducting
the
study
never
listens
to
his
wife’s
(my
stepmom’s)
detailed
accounts
of
many
episodes
of
confusion,
forgetfulness
and
increasingly
dangerous
driving
habits,
along
with
a
host
of
other
unsafe
behaviors.
In
fact,
the
last
visit
he
told
my
stepmom
“he
will
never
have
to
go
to
a
nursing
home
because
he’s
so
sharp
and
he
can
just
continue
to
drive.”
All
of
this
is
so
far
from
how
he
really
is.
He’s
83
and
although
he
might
be
forgetful
like
others
at
this
age
his
other
behaviors
are
red
flags.
I
have
tried
to
call
the
center
over
the
years
and
have
only
been
able
to
speak
to
one
of
the
practice
nurses
one
time.
According
to
my
stepmom,
the
doctor
knows
knows
who
I
am,
and
remembers
I’m
a
nurse
with
a
lot
of
experience
in
psychiatry.
He
has
never
returned
my
phone
calls
even
once.
I
believe
he
must
be
avoiding
me.
Finally
he
keeps
complimenting
my
father
but
offers
no
support
or
referrals
for
other
issues.
Unfortunately
since
my
poor
father,
who
understandably
wants
to
believe
he’s
fine,
only
eats
up
these
suspect
test
results
and
compliments.
This
also
makes
him
believe
this
study
is
like
treatment,
which
it’s
definitely
not.
So
In
the
end,
my
father
is
being
exploited
for
the
data
he
provides.
My
stepmom
told
me
the
staff
say
most
of
the
patients
they
have
are
much
lower
functioning
than
he.
So
maybe
my
father
is
seen
as
an
easy
person
who
can
participate
in
their
study,
but
they
are
so
un
ethical
to
manipulate
him
into
just
coming
back
there
so
they
can
just
keep
him
around
to
collect
data.
It’s
just
terrible
and
I
can’t
believe
this
place
has
such
a
good
reputation!
