I was in there for suicidal thoughts and an attempt. I told them I was having thoughts and very strong urges to go through with it WHILE I was in the facility - first thing they said was "Want a pill?" I'm not kidding, even another staff member said that some people in there don't care and they're only there for a paycheck which I believe they are 100 percent speaking the truth. During my stay the staff was extremely insensitive, a day before my discharge I attempted to take my life with a sheet. The next day I was released. I did everything, tell the doctor, ask for new medication, etc etc. They could care less. The staff began to recommend religion and say that the reason the people inside were "like that" (intending that we were not normal) was because we didn't pray. Overall, it put my mental health at an even bigger decline.

Last august I got a call from this number it was my lifelong friend who has dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts for many years. she called me using the phone at the facility and we talked for 2 hours during which I could overhear the rude, and aggressive attitude they gave my friend for asking basic questions. I promised my friend that I wouldn't forget about her and would call later to check on her. Hours later I called back and a woman answered the phone clearly having a conversation with a co worker, I asked if I could speak to my friend and gave her my friends name and date of birth but before I could finish giving her the info she cuts me off and says "patient number" Im not familiar with the systems put in place for places like these so i just responded with sorry ma'am she never gave me a patient number just told me to call back this number and provide her name and date of birth. she then responded with we can't find who you're looking for without that number, frustrated but not wanting to start an issue I simply said okay is there any chance You can take down a message just to let her know I called and that im here if she needs me. Once again she cuts me off laughs says that they are busy and hangs up the phone. my friend called days later telling me she was okay and what had happened while she was there, thankfully she was okay and was home but those few days where I didn't know how she was doing were the scariest and most frustrating days of my life. It was my understanding that if you work at a place like this you're supposed to be helpful, supportive, and comforting. Not aggressive, stand-off ish, and just plain rude especially to the patients. Idk who's hiring these people but they need to do a better job there are lives at risk.

Terrible, dirty place, I give it six months before it goes the way of MonteVista, technicians and nurses champ at the bit to punish you with medication, they dispense Thorazine like it’s Halloween candy, and did I mention it’s filthy? Technicians talk back to patients in an unprofessional manner that serves zero purpose but for the tech to feel they got one over on a crazy person. This place is a dump, thanks Reagan!

Had the extreme displeasure of coming here. Not only did they lose my top partial my 1st night there. They never made an official report for it. And now they want my insurance to cover the stay here and I have to buy new partials. The worse place ever for any treatment or serious help for anyone. The need a better coordinator or event planner over here. The only thing you do is eat and smoke and ding the insurance. Not very realistic help, for me at least. NEVER GO HERE.

I got a same day initial appointment and asked as many questions as I could think to ask including what should I expect, do I need to bring insurance, how long will I be here, etc. I was informed it was an outpatient hospital and that was it. I waited over an hour to be called to the back. I followed this worker to a room labeled “ contraband” and he told me to leave my belongings in a clear bin. I said absolutely not. I’m not departing with my belongings like I’m prisoner & I asked him before heading to the back will I be free to leave at any time (to which he ignored). Now he aggressively asked me did I want to start the assessment or not. I informed him no one told me this process would include an involuntary stay at the facility . I was highly upset I wasted my time & gas money making a visit here to be deceived into believing this was a regular medical visit. I felt trapped and conned into coming …under false pretenses. Nobody considered this could be a trigger for someone with a history of mental problems such as abuse and anxiety and how overwhelming it could be to feel powerless over carrying ur personal items and leaving if u have work or other obligations . It was like re-opening a wound. I later called back to the number I made my appointment with and thoroughly explained to the appointment setter he needed to be fully transparent about the procedure to avoid upset clients. Seems very shady but the guy OTP said some patients should not be able to leave due to their condition, etc. YOUR CHOICE PEOPLE. Be prepared for the unimaginable doing business here

This place is trash, & they don’t care! Look into doing PHP or IOP, they actually care there and the staff and therapist is great. As far as inpatient I went to be admitted twice verbally stating that I wanted to kill myself. They said the doctor recommends I seek treatment elsewhere. I was walking out expressing that I felt like I wanted to end my life and they just walked me outside the doors and didn’t admit me.

Outside of anyone with substance abuse issues, I don't recommend coming here at all. If you express suicidal thoughts while being there, the only thing they'll do is ask you if you want a sleeping pill. Yes, you didn't read that wrong. That was my experience and others on this thread who have stated the same thing years before this review. The phones they have are 'conveniently' located at the front desk which allows no privacy if you wanted to report anything which is different from a previous inpatient hospital I stayed at briefly. I'd say the second worst thing to happen while I was there was when I got sick with a throat infection and was given only a vitamin C pill by a medical doctor for a whole week while it got worse until I couldn't talk without being in pain. That was a surprisingly ignorant thing to do for a medical professional. After discharge, I went to a different hospital and got treated for it right away with antibiotics!

I brought my 13 year old here for an intake. Now first and foremost- the intake specialist, the nurses, and the techs on site were all absolutely wonderful. Johnathan, the nurse on my child’s ward, was absolutely amazing and very thorough. My child was admitted the same day. However the psychiatrist on staff Dr. Trivedi is absolutely horrendous. I spoke with her once during my daughters stay. She spoke over me repeatedly, wouldn’t actually listen, refused to take any concerns seriously. I flat out stayed that my husband and I do not feel safe with our child coming home without further care. Dr. Trivedi had ZERO plans for continued care, still isn’t determined which medication she was going to start my child on, and was overall dismissive and unhelpful. The social worker Joanna was decent. She and I did discuss some care options for the future. The therapist I did a virtual session with for a family session Felicia was wonderful and listened to my concerns. She recommended continuous inpatient treatment due to safety concerns, including my child not only posing a safety risk to herself and others but the fact that my child had stated she had thought/desires to hurt several people in our household on AT LEAST 3 occasions. Once during intake, once during her individual try ergot, and once to the psychiatrist during their singular appointment. Now if someone has shown to be a danger to themselves or others and has also blatantly said they WANT to hurt people, discharging them 5 days later, without even stabilizing them on medications (meds were prescribed but not even started in the hospital) seems highly irresponsible. I asked multiple times prior to discharge to have the patient file notated that 1.) my child was being discharged even though she poses a risk to herself and others and 2.) to have the file updates to reflect that Dr. Trivedi refused to follow the therapists recommendation of continued inpatient care. They refused to do that over the phone and told me to call the social worker. I did and left a message twice. Of course, no response. So when I went to pick up my daughter I asked again and both the regular nurse and discharge nurse refused to update the patient file. They offered to have me call the social worker again and then request patient medical records which would take over a week. I asked how I knew the file would be updated before I left and they didn’t have an answer. Finally they told me I could talk to the person in charge of the “floor”. As I type this, I’ve been waiting to do that for over 20 minutes- I would wager they’re hoping I get tired of waiting and leave on my own but that won’t happen until I’ve had her file updated. Because should some sort of crisis happen I want a paper trail to ensure I have proven I’ve done all I can and to ensure that the hospital and Dr. Trivedi will be held legally liable and responsible for releasing a child that poses a risk to the safety of herself and others. UPDATE 2/22/2023: So. I left a voicemail for the patient advocate the same day I initially left this review (so nearly a month ago) and never heard back. Someone with the office called to schedule my child for the intensive outpatient program. Btw- they advertise free transportation to and from the program but surprise: they say there’s a waitlist for it. The coordinator and I spoke briefly and she clarified a few things: the program is 5 days a week, 6 hours daily, for 10 days. How the heck does 10 days help anyone exactly? That’s not even enough time for medications to become fully effective in patients. She also said she’d be calling me the end of that week to finish setting my daughter up with the program so we could get her started the following Monday. Guess what didn’t happen? Her calling me back. Surprise surprise. The therapy office they referred us to is horrendous. First off- my child needs intensive treatment not BS art therapy provided by a STUDENT. Which takes over 2 weeks to even get an appointment for: then you wind up waiting over 30 minutes past the scheduled appointment time.

My daughter is currently a patient there. She sounds so low in spirit, it’s really difficult hearing her like this. Her seizures aren’t being taken seriously, and she feels she’s not being attended to. I expect better from this facility. If you’re staff isn’t capable of providing the appropriate level of care she needs, please transfer her back to umc. I will be putting in a formal complaint to the appropriate department. Do I recommend this hospital to anyone?? ABSOLUTELY NOT …

This place is an illegal nightmare. DO NOT go there. I'm in the process of filing a law suit against them. The staff here is scarier than the people locked up. The food is not edible, I'm disabled and I told every staff member I was in distress and no help, the refused to give me my HIV meds an and inhaler, locked me up without meeting with a psychiatrist, and they don't have beds! They have hard plastic covered mats smaller than a single bed. This place should be shut down.

I am grateful to the staff at Desert Parkway for their compassionate service and commitment to mental health. A family member living in Las Vegas experienced an incapacitating mental health event. We went through much frustration connecting him to the help he needs until we were able to finally in contact Desert Parkway. The staff approached the care need with compassion and facilitated difficult crisis intake with professionalism and compassion. The level of communication exceptional. My family member is where he needs to be right now and we remain hopeful for full recovery. The story is not fully written. But the value of this facility and its staff is clear.

This hospital needs to be investigated, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT! There are some real shady people working intake at night. Criminal activity…they are corrupt and connected. But sadly there will be no stopping them, they will continue to kill mentally ill people. Just remember you awful people who work here! GOD WINS

I am being evicted from my apartment and at serious risk of losing my job of 9 years all because of this hospitals backwards policy of not filling out medical forms for fmla or short term disability. All this while attending their PHP/IOP program. This could have been avoided/wouldn't even need forms filled out had they been able to get me medical records in a timely manner instead of when I discharged from each program. I got attendance notes from PHP/IOP but they came in too late at the end due to whatever started happening with Ms. Clai. They never even pointed me in the right direction. I didn't have an outside PCP, Therapist or med doctor to fill out the forms. This seems like complete negligence, all's I needed was support in extension, original claim was filled out while in inpatient at Southern Hills. I've learned value lessons at Outpatient but I should have gone somewhere else. Please help me get things filled out, I'm not asking you all to certify me off work in future, just during the time I've been in your program. Specifically from time of denial 10/10 through 12/12 when I go back to work because now my work is requiring another leave accommodation to save my job in case my disability case in appeals is denied. This has to have medical filled out. I'm still in your outpatient! I had to step down to IOP after tomorrow to be able to access medical records from PHP to support disability (which hopefully you give me cause I have no money for printing). Additionally if this doesn't get filled out I can't even go back to work! Change your policy so others don't go through the same thing while trying to get there life on track. Exploring legal options through my works EAP. Just seems wrong.

My daughter works there She definitely is experienced, coming from years of experience as a “RN” in Hawaii and then another hospital in Vegas (supervisor), then switching gears full force to take in a whole another role. Helping people on this avenue. I will say, It’s not an easy role. Think about it. 🙄🤔 To those with “negative” feelings it is understandable because it’s a rough situation when you’re going through what you’re going through, so often times you just have that notion and it’s hard to feel that people are looking out for what’s best for you. My great “prayer” 🙏💚💚💚 is that you look up to Him and know that Jesus is the only one that can “love” you how you want to be 🥰 loved. Never forget … (~.~*) YOU are the only one who can help make that change God’s blessings to you alllllll Aloha and a great Mahalo

Their website says, "Feel free to bring a family member or friend, as this may be helpful for support and to assist in the assessment process." This is very misleading as they don't allow you to bring them in for your actual assessment, unless if they're your legal guardian. So DO NOT go here! I almost had an anxiety attack. They force you to surrender your things, put you in a room, have your blood pressure checked, then be seen by the assessor. After the assessment was done, they had me wait in the common room, still without my phone. While I was watching tv with the faculty, the assessor and I went back and forth with his doctor on whether I should stay overnight and be in the inpatient program, when I actually wanted to do the outpatient program. I felt like I was losing my rights and freedoms because I went in to ask for help. Luckily, I was stern enough to tell them I did not wish to stay overnight nor be in the inpatient program. Before they let me leave, the assessor had me say a verbal contract in front of the faculty as witnesses that I "Promise not to hurt myself or anyone else." After that, they let me leave with my things and was relieved. I'm never coming here again. I also called about the outpatient program, which doesn't even accommodate to my schedule for school and work anyway. Sort of a waste of time, but I'm leaving this review here so others are more aware about how it works.

I had a great experience with their PHP & IOP group therapy program. Wonderful therapist, social workers and staff assistance. They gave me great coping skills to combat my depression. I Highly Recommend them to anyone dealing with any mental health issues.

I can honestly say : don’t go here. Especially for a mental health evaluation. It was quick and felt rushed. The doctor that saw me looked like she was on or going on her lunch break. It’s hard opening up about my mental health struggles let alone seek help. It made me rethink seeking help for this or anything mental health wise. I was lied to the site she recommended was false. They should have a sign that says : Abondon Hope all who enter here

it’s a hard to accept you need help. This place wasn’t perfect and I doubt any places in Vegas like this are. Food was good for the most part, and the people looking over us were firm but fair. If you want to begin treatment for yourself this place was a solid option for me.

I had a cPTSD breakdown and my friends (I thank God for them) pushed me to stay for about 6 weeks in patient. It was a serious challenge, as I was also inpatient for a history of substance abuse that I wanted to break free off. The technicians are firm and parental, the food is excellent and plentiful, they allow up to 4/5 cigarette breaks if needed (they provide one kind for you in case you don’t have your own on you if you need menthol BYOC), there is a mental health coping strategy group twice a day, and social workers and doctors meet with you. Medication management and planning for outpatient be it group home or med appts is assisted however communicate your concerns since they serve many people and your self advocacy is crucial to your best possible wellness. This was a terrifying experience for me as I was in the midst of a special memory recollection therapy called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which should be done under the care of Desert Parkway for best results. I hope to not return to inpatient and am now in a group home rehabilitating. If you’re like me and have bipolar, severe depression with psychotic features reoccurring, mania, whatever your struggle is, I urge you to act now bc you can get better and medication and trusting modern science is the way. May you find your light in your darkness. Sincere Regards. Angela Kerfoot. Contact Desert Parkway Las Vegas for more info. God bless.

Very caring staff. Talking in group really helped me process a lot. Really felt like the therapists cared too. I’ve been there twice now and really appreciate how the staff tries to help us. Amazing place to get help and feel supported. Would recommend to anyone struggling with addiction, depression, or other mental health issues.

From the time I walked in, the staff made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. They were non-judgemental and friendly. Once I was admitted to the Veteran's floor, the RN, Dallin, was very professional. He made an uncomfortable situation more bearable. Dr. Mayes was easy to talk to and made sure I had the right medications to make me comfortable. Tech Varik was a superstar!! He was there for me when I needed to talk and always checked on me to make sure all my needs were met. Courtney was easy to talk to in the group sessions and valued my opinion. She was an excellent listener! The ladies in the cafeteria are very respectful and always made sure I had plenty to eat. The rooms were comfortable and there were plenty of things to do while not in group sessions. If you're struggling with addiction like i was, I would highly recomment this facility. I was nervous about being admitted, but left extremely happy, much healthier, and ready to turn my life around for the better. It's been 3 days since I left and I'm feeling better and healthier every day. Desert Parkway is an awesome place with amazing and caring staff!

Your response to this question is a blatant lie. My information is at your fingertips. Then and now. It's 10/25/2022 and my daughter is a newly diagnosed unmedicated psyche patient. I presented them with all the information they needed prevent them from doing any thinking or work, and the most idiotic plan of action is the what they choose for no good reason. This is beyond ridiculous.

When I was 17 I stayed here after a mental breakdown I wasn’t in the best shape but I didn’t wanna take my life. I was really just a mess. Stayed here for a week and it was a hugely refreshing stay. At first I panicked but after the second day I realized I was there and it’d be easier if I just went with it. To say the least I’m happier than I was before I went in. The staff was blunt but still nice. Everyone actually cares and encourages you to stay out once you get out. Some of the kids there were on their third or fourth visit but instead of going back I moved on. You gotta want help if you go to this type of place voluntarily. Some of the kids there were mandated to be there and some of them didn’t belong. Like I met a kid who ran away from home because he just didn’t wanna be with his parents.

The staff is both friendly and professional and I am so incredibly grateful for their role in my recovery.

If you are having problems with your teen child I do not recommend this facility, the staff will make it seem like you are an unfit parent, they will judge you and speak down on you while listening to the child who lies and make excuses about their wrong doings. The staff will put your child in a room where they can hear them speak negatively on the parent.

Can’t help but to give them a one star. So un helpful. Not rude but don’t expect to get straight answers only run around. They treat everyone the same way and put up barriers to every question even when the patient is in front of them. And they were so pleasant over the phone.

There really isn’t many options for short term hospitalization in Vegas, but as an ADOLESCENT, this is probably the one I would choose to come to. The services aren’t always the best, and some of the staff actually traumatized me, but at least the doctors and therapists made me feel listened to.

All I'm going to say is while I was there I was exposed to Covid. The staff knew but neglected to inform anyone about the situation. I was discharged and found out from another patient that he was the one with Covid and he did let desert parkway know the situation that he tested positive and still no one was told that we had all been exposed. Totally wrong. Masks weren't worn they only gave one mask to the persons roomate but didn't reinforce everyone else to wear masks and most staff there didn't wear their masks anyways. They had patients going off to other treatment facilities and didn't say anything. I'm beyond upset and now I've exposed my elderly parent to Covid. I will be taking next steps. I'm not stopping at this review. I will do whatever in my power to make it right so this doesn't happen again. Wrong. Just wrong. They are a hospital this is just ridiculous.

Erica at the front desk, the nurses and the men who work the building Trevor, Curtis and the other men who I apologize I can not remember names, you all are very professional and caring. I’ve been to a few of behaviour hospitals through my adolescence desert parkway is one of the few who are very friendly and kind they always try there best to help you but people who leave the bad reviews are the people who don’t want to help themselves because only so much a hospital can do for you if you don’t accept and want to do better you can’t be better the staff are great they accommodate your heath needs and look out for the people with disability’s nurses are great only reason why I give a four star is because there could be some improvement with the groups they are very repetitive and I believe it don’t really help after a while maybe if you change up the groups and the morning meeting just so it’s not the same as always change it up cause kids always tend to go back and when they do it’s the same things over and over and that doesn’t really help for the people who continue to go back time after time try a different approach to your meeting don’t just have paper and pencil make them be interactive open up change you the pace one day the gym is a group the next you can have a group in the halls be creative who knows how they will react to it but maybe a change of pace is good from experience I can say this and understand on a different level otherwise you guys are great and I am thriving in adulthood because of your help and my determination to do better so thank you desert parkway

Fantastic team and employees. Albeit the clientele can be challenging the people here always do their best! The Business Development team always goes above and beyond for the community and clients. Well Done DPH!

NAMI Southern Nevada has enjoyed collaborating with Desert Parkway over the years. They've offered our organization space to host events, support groups, and even committed their staff to volunteer with us! They are incredibly community-minded and enable us to remain focused on our mission - to raise awareness surrounding mental health and further reduce the stigma. Thank you Desert Parkway!

I am the spouse of an active duty military member based at a Las Vegas base. I received outstanding care and personalized attention in their military specific program. I certainly feel as if they responded to my needs and wrapped around not just me, but my family as well to ensure returned to them safely and fully rehabilitated. Thank you Desert Parkway and all the staff in their hope for heroes program.

I refer to Desert Parkway by using Darcey and Kyle. Their professionalism and their kindness in working with the community is excellent. They help me with a seamless admission to Desert Parkway. The clients and their families are grateful. We are grateful for this resource and for these representatives. Thank you.

This program is not worth the time, kids are out of school, not being taught anything. My grandson was there for 10 days and learned nothing and also didn't ensure anything for them outside of the facility. I don't understand why they are there if nothing becomes of it.

Amazing incompetence of the staff, needed a letter drafted showing my son was here. Ready after 8am social worker will draft. Came at 8am, letter was wrong. How its 3pm working on the letter. Lady behind the desk wants you name and phone number, then go away attitude. Terrible

I've been there inpatient and outpatient. It was an intense experience, but the place really helped me overcome my issues. I met a lot of peers at both in patient and out patient and the staff really helped me with everything! I feel it would be helpful if I could stay in contact with my peers who I have met during my time at the hospital and in PHP/IOP. I really miss everybody I've met from there! Finally, I would like to thank the staff at the hospital and in the outpatient building for all their help! I've been having a great summer and I hope to see everybody again soon! I hope I could go back and get the help I need if I ever have a relapse in depression, anxiety and/or insomnia or even have thoughts of suicide ever again!

God bless this facility. All the staff and patients were great. They really take their time and care for each patient here from my experience which made it easier for me to be vulnerable and accept the help. Wish more people knew about this program so they too could receive the help they offer here.

The staff is truly caring and generous. I went through a lot but I made so many friends there and I came out a completely new person in a positive way and I’m so happy and grateful I made the right decision

I appreciate Desert Parkway and all staff throughout the process for helping me with my mental health issues. Also for providing safety, food, medications, and transportation. Again thank you to all staff members, nurses, therapists, and etc.
