😠 I’m a new patient trying to make an appointment but in order to do so I need to talk to admin to get me in the system. For the past 3 days they have not answered. I tried calling them at 12pm one day and they told me they’re on lunch til 1:30pm. The next day I called them at 2:30pm, still no one pic... People often mention care, time, base, health, hospital, told, patients, called, great, surgery,

I normally don’t write reviews but this is ridiculous. I should not have to chase people down for one simple task.

BEEN COMING TO THIS HOSPITAL SINCE IT WAS FIRST OPENED UP. COMPARED TO THE INADEQUATE CARE I GOT OUT IN THE COMMUNITY AND FAR MORE EXPENSIVE AND ALWAYS INCONVENIENT, MILITARY HEALTH IS THE BEST IN LAS VEGAS. COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE IS SUB- STANDARD AND I FEAR A DAY WHEN I MIGHT BE TOLD I CAN NO LONGER BE CARED FOR AT MIKE O'CALLAGHAN JOINT MILITARY MEDICAL CENTER. MY HUSBAND IS RETIRED FROM THE ARMY AFTER 29 YEARS SERVICE.

I worked on the base, as a contractor though I'm am a disabled Air Force veteran. Had an accident on base, top half of my right index finger was cut deep to the bone. I was at the base emergency room because it was the closest place. BIG MISTAKE! Since I wasn't active duty nor a dependent, I was put to the back of the line. Even though I was actively bleeding on the floor!!!!! People who were there to get their sniffles (sniffles compared to actively bleeding) looked at were a priority, about 6 hours later I was finally attended to. Yes, a military hospital is for military first unless someone really needs to be taken care of right away. I do believe that someone who is actively bleeding qualifies for that priority. I had to shame these people to even dress the wound so I wouldn't bleed all over the floor. Do yourself and your family a service. Do Not use this joke of a band aid shop.

Horrible experience! My family and I ended up appealing with tricare to switch to Select after our in-processing experience here after a PCS last summer. Pediatrics specially was a nightmare. The airmen working reception simply had no one holding them accountable nor did I ever get the impression they knew how to do their job. We spent in total 6 hours waiting in reception over the course of 3 days for them to pull records from our previous city’s pediatrician. The first day was understandable in its duration. There was a lot to get done for our child and my wife, but their was a holdup on my son’s records. They assured us they sent the request by COB eastern time to our old base and clinic. They called us the next morning to say they had received it and to come back so my son could finish his next series of vaccines. We make the 40 minute drive to Nellis just to be told they not only didn’t receive the records but never even sent the request. This is where I had a big issue. It took two hours of me having to play supervisor for these airmen to get them to tell me the full story and confirm they understood a course of action to remedy this. By this time it was now, again, post-COB eastern time. Day 3 was the same charade before finding a MSgt from an entirely different section to get this straightened out.

They say they’re open but the only thing open is the ER cuz they shut everything down constantly for training days. They don’t have dental for families only for AD and they don’t actually take care of you for serious issues unless you keep going for the same thing over the course of a few months and build a history and even then, you have to demand care and help. Also there’s a nurse who works in the OBGYN office who physically hurts and yells at her patients in her care (Me being one of them) I haven’t seen her since she squeezed my arm out of anger and screamed at me but that’s cuz I asked the doctor to keep her away from me. They also misdiagnosed people constantly and prescribe them the wrong medications. Usually I don’t write reviews but I’ve been here for four years and about to leave so if you have the option to be seen off base I highly recommend it!

To all fellow military families. I have been seen at this clinic for 2 years. Prior to our family being stationed here, I already had chronic health conditions I knew of. When any of my symptoms worsen or become unmanageable at home I’m told to go to to ER or they blame it on my history of anxiety and depression. They do not care about chronic health issues, I’m sure some providers do, but the ones I’ve seen just don’t listen. When I go to the ER I’m told, it’s not life threatening but it’s concerning so please follow up with your PCM. It’s the same run around every single time. There are ways around this such as switching to tricare select and going off base which we will do now. But you shouldn’t HAVE to do that. If you have any auto immune diseases, need neurological care, have women health issues, or any specialty care go OFF base please.

This hospital was amazing. I am a civilian that lives 5mins away from base. I was having extreme cramps and was majorly dehydrated and the EMTs took me to here. They called it in since I was a civilian and they took me in and cared for me as if I was one of their own. First time being hospitalized and it was with the great men and women that serve our country! As well, as the Civilian Contractors that were there! You guys rock!!!!

I've been assigned to this hospital for almost 12 yrs. During that time I've recieved a wide range of care from excellent to poor. I've reported numerous experiences where care fell short of meeting guidelines set in place by the Air Force. Most recently my PCM had informed me that he would be retiring, but assured me I'd be reassigned to a provider on his team. I have chronic health concerns and have been receiving care from multiple speciality clinics at MOMMC. I called to schedule follow-up appointments and was informed that I was unregistered from the system, therefore deactivating all of my referalls. The SSgt in the Tricare administration office tried to assure me "this isn't a big deal". Well, excuse me...but it is!! Basically, since my provider retired I was removed from the system and I've now had to make several calls & be on the phone longer than necessary. I also now have to take the time out of my day to have a virtual call with a new provider in order to get referrals issued that have already been in place. This is beyond frustrating, ridiculous and an extreme waste of manpower. Also, Airmen interacting with patients need some customer service training. Do better MOMMC!!

After my careful consideration, I have decided to shed light on the behavior of the medical staff here at Nellis. I've heard rumors of poor care, unprofessional behavior, and biased charting. My recent appointment has enlightened me on which individuals could be contributing to the negative reputation of the medical facilities on base. During my visit to follow up on blood labs for an iron deficiency, I had an interaction with a medical technician. Initially, the technician appeared friendly and asked the standard questions, including any dietary changes. I openly shared the foods I had integrated into my diet. However, as soon as the technician left the room, the entire atmosphere changed abruptly. To my shock, I overheard her openly mocking the information I had shared, going so far as to imitate my voice when discussing my diet. This incident left me feeling both stunned and confused, as our initial interaction had been pleasant enough, and I couldn't comprehend why my words were being ridiculed. I understand that humor can be a coping mechanism in the medical field, and I have friends who work in similar settings. However, they possess the professionalism and discretion not to make jokes at the expense of patients, and certainly not in a loud or disrespectful manner. It certainly raises the question of how many patients have been subjected to similar experiences. By sharing my negative experience, I really hope that positive changes can be enacted. Life isn't easy, and we should all be kind and empathetic to one another.

All of my health care is on Nellis, I love having a full service hospital and I'll go here for ALL health care needs. My son had surgery in August by Urology, he was professional, had an excellent bedside manner, understood my concerns as a mom and did a great job! My annual visit went flawlessly and she was great too. I love being assigned to a base with a full service hospital on it. 1. ER: I've been here a few times of the course of this year, I've always had GREAT service, been seen quickly, discharged quickly. Followed up with routinely. 2. Out Patient Surgery: My son had a urology surgery here, his doctor was fantastic, he booked all of our follow up visits, called several times to check in on him. TOP NOTCH bedside manner. 3. Family Practice: My PCM is fantastic, she listens to my issue, thinks outside the box, for once in my career and marriage I do not feel like a last 4! 4. Lab: Friendly, polite and quick with what they do. 5. Pharmacy: Polite, helpful, quick and easy! 6. Pediatrics: FANTASTIC, excellent bed side manner as well. I don't have to be seen on base since we live just outside of the time limit, but we CHOOSE to be seen on base because of their excellent level of bedside manner and care. It will ONLY get better as the VA part moves to their own facility.

At the ER, I came in with pain in my ear. They looked briefly with an otoscope and didn't see anything so I was sent home with nothing... three times. I was taking tylenol and advil every day, more than the maximum daily dose and it was barely touching the pain. My husband came with me the forth time, because I was crying on the couch in pain and he wanted them to figure out what was wrong. They were going to send me home again until my husband asked for patient advocacy. Then the doctor gave me a shot of "amped up ibuprofen". The pain went away for about 5 minutes. The refered me to the ENT. The ENT did some tests, ended up putting a tube in, even though he didn't see anything. Didn't help (obviously). Another incident, I needed a refill of my thyroid medicine, which I have been on for over 7 years. My PCM called me to verify and by that time I had three pills left. He said that he was not comfortable refilling this prescription (even though he had personally filled it with 90 days worth and 2 refills each time at least three times prior) because it isn't safe. He said that it isn't FDA approved, it isn't regulated, and that the endocrinologist that used to be one base (about 10 years ago from what I researched) told his attending that it is not safe so don't prescribe it. All of that is FALSE. I have studied the thyroid function and medicine for about 7 years now. I have researched different prescriptions and how patients react to them. This medication is FDA approved, which means it is regulated and safe. Even better, this prescription is listed on our formulary. He refused to fill it, referring me to an endocrinologist. Then he wouldn't write a bridge prescription to get me to my appointment. My endocrinologist, whom I had seen previously and he sent me back to my PCM for treatment because I was stable on this prescription (as I was for three years before I had seen him originally), confirmed that I was still stable and it was absolutely the best medication for me. On a side note, my endocrinologist had put me on Vitamin D previously because I am Vit D deficient. My PCM took me off Vit D without running any blood work. By the time I went back to the endocrinologist (about three months later) I was severely deficient again. Also, my PCM gave me a prescription for potassium because I was very slightly deficient. My endocrinologist took me off of that because it could have been fixed by just eating a banana.

My husband was seen for a back injury. He wasnt able to get off our garage floor to walk to our car so EMS transported him. He was not taken very seriously and was given medications he already had at home and discharged because they saw he could hobble to the restroom after he got a few different medications. Prior to discharge he was told imaging wasn’t necessary and was diagnosed with a “lumbar sprain”. He asked the PHYSICIAN for Hot packs and was told by Dr. Osak, “we are pretty busy, that’ll take too long”. (All anyone had to do was walk to the supply closet for some heat packs! he could have activated and placed them on his back by himself). - his discharge paperwork recommended applying heat packs… but you couldn’t take the time to throw one at him??? Upon his d/c he was told you’ll need to walk to the pharmacy to pick up your meds. Mind you the man is hunched over with his legs wanting to give out and in pain. He explained to the RN caring for him that he couldn’t walk to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions (as they expected Him too) the reply was “do you have a ride home” zero concern. I can not believe the “care” he received today. They should be ashamed. If something wasn’t wrong he wouldn't have gone to an ED, he would have utilized his PCP… who wants to go to the ED for no reason especially a military ED with poor care!?

Pharmacy needs to coordinate with clinics and patients to advise when meds go on backorder..The patient should not have to find out that a Rx is not available when they go to pick it up..The pharmacy should be able to flag unavailable meds and inform the provider and clinic..The patient/ customer should not have to be calling the pharmacy call center every day or two to find out the status...loooooong wait time to the call center.... Nurse EMILY and Nurse SAMANTHA 'SAM. ...in family practice are great and have to work harder than they should to solve pharmacy problems / glitches....All other areas are great... FAMILY PRACTICE and ER have always been GREAT

My wife Hsiu Lu and I would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr Olson and the entire Mammogram Dept at Nellis AFB. Dr Olson was very professional, courteous, and considerate in performing a follow-on mammogram and ultrasound, and biopsy based on results of my wife’s annual mammogram exam in July. Dr Olson clearly explained each exam’s procedure and the steps ahead to both my wife and me. The Mammogram front desk and all the technicians were very professional and courteous. In all of my years of living in Las Vegas I have never experienced such blatant bias and racial discrimination at any hospital in the valley like this one. We weren’t aware that we were being transferred by ambulance to Nellis Hospital on base to get emergency surgery we couldn’t get anywhere else. The ER team was amazing and treated us like human beings that they genuinely cared for but this became an entirely different world once we were moved upstairs. Not expecting to randomly be transferred on base for an invasive surgery I didn’t think to clean out my bag and upon inspection found an empty wax pen and battery as well as a mini bottle of chardonnay as we were not expecting to go to the ER. Obviously these items are not allowed on the property which we totally understand so we immediately give them the items to be disposed of so I can continue the treatment of my sepsis and have my mouth surgery. They also do bag checks where they write down every single belonging you have when you enter and leave (because of employees stealing in the past) as well as documenting every mark/open wound/tattoo on your naked body. So these people are well aware of any and everything you have on your person or in your possession.. An hour after we call a Caucasian male nurse to inquire about dietary restrictions and medicine. Knowing that we have no contraband because he himself took it away 1 hour prior and while fully knowing two nurses searched and documented our things extensively prior he then proceeds to say to my husband & I “You guys have been going to the bathroom a lot and when people do that they’re doing drugs so in this case what are you hiding in there & why are you going to the bathroom so much.” My husband went a total of three times in an hour and a half because he had just eaten Taco Bell and is severely lactose intolerant with Ibs and nervous about his wife getting invasive surgery & I am in such excruciating pain I haven’t even been able to walk to the bathroom because I couldn’t move due to the pain of having sepsis so upon hearing this allegation and after showing the Taco Bell bag and proving we got rid of everything as soon as we found out we couldn’t have it we were met with the rudest exchange of accusatory language I’ve seen come out of a health care providers mouth. I break into tears because I’m utterly shocked at how this person who removed the wax pen themselves and knows we had been searched prior double down on this outrageous story that had 0 evidence. I had a horrible case of sepsis and the last thing I want is to not get surgery and die because of a biased employees personal vendetta against a stranger he knows nothing about just because of how they looked. When I mentioned this while crying the employee brushed it off on me being sick not the fact that he just falsely accused us of something that can easily be resolved by security searching without being discriminatory and allowing them to do their job if there was that much concern. We were expecting to receive a health care provider from a hospital that promotes equality & kindness & treating all patients with the same respect regardless of what they look like or what legal cannabis products they use (on off base properties as a civilian) After this exchange I was left feeling targeted, de-humanized, and that quality health care for all patients regardless of what they look like is not a priority for the Nellis Hospital at this time & I’m deeply disturbed by what I experienced for absolutely no reason and the targeted embarrassment that was directed towards my husband solely because of his skin & how many times he went to the bathroom to poop in those two hours. The panic attack it caused me to have because he decided to harass us with 0 evidence while we are in a traumatic situation already instead of being a quality unbiased health care provider goes to show the social climate of this hospital. People of color beware and stay clear of this place if you want to be treated like a normal human being and receive quality health care.

I have never been to a more useless clinic. Tired putting in an urgent note for women’s health as I’m currently pregnant. I haven’t been able to hold food or water down without it flowing right though me to the point I am now losing weight. We are on day 5 now. To be told oh we don’t do urgent messages and it looks like they won’t be able to contact you today and they have 72 hours to respond. All of this after an ER visit after the first 2 days with no food or water staying down. Not any helpfulness regarding what mediations I can take for the issues that come with severe food poisoning. Only hope is to go to the ER for an IV again without anything to help solve the actual issues causing the dehydration and having to hope the cramping from all of this doesn’t get worse to affect the current pregnancy.

I have been to the ER twice now for different reasons and the staff was absolutely amazing. The doctors and nurses really involved me in my plan of care and took the time to explain procedures or treatments that were recommended. They were awesome and staff there provided some of the best quality health care I’ve ever seen.

My pcm is here and I absolutely love him. Dr. Gauron is very kind, compassionate and understanding. I’ve utilized the ER and the wait time was SIGNIFICANTLY less than urgent care would have been. I see a lot of reviews here state that the waiting room was empty but they waited for a while. The emergency room is very small, they don’t have actual rooms they have curtains separating every person that they’ve brought back to be seen. So, even though the waiting room is empty, they are probably full in the back and cannot see more people until they discharge some patients in the back. The doctor that I saw was very kind and down to earth. I didn’t feel dumb after speaking with him. There’s complaints on here as well about lab times. I have made an appointment prior to every lab draw that has been ordered (you can do it online!) And I have waited, maybe a total of 10-15 minutes to be called back. The pharmacy does take a while. But if you activate your prescription prior to actually going to pick it up, it’s faster. I have also had to get an x-ray here. X-rays are on a walk-in basis only. I was told to come in the minute they open to be seen faster. I was unable to do that due to childcare constraints so I went towards the end of the day, around 1600 and I was seen almost immediately.

03-01-2021 CONSTRUCTION 🚧 ALERT 🚨: they are remodeling the Emergency Room. It has moved to the right (if you are looking at the ER) in temporary buildings. We have come here for our medical care since we moved to Las Vegas in 2013. Advocate for yourself always and take charge of YOUR health yourself. The medical center is a tool in your tool kit. If you are here your spouse, your parent or you have served - you KNOW how the military works. People who complain about the way it is run amaze me. You will get top notch state of the art care.

After over a year I am just now recovering from what one of the PAs at the family med clinic put me through. Don't let yourself be gaslit by these doctors. We attempted to voice our concerns with a very detailed history of what took place with the patient advocate already so spare me. Didn't want to hear it, cut us off. Basically just wanted to know what we wanted him to do for me. Complete lack of professionalism and compassion.

They stole from me and my family this springtime in MSU, and their staff will not empty the trash unless you tell them to, no matter how stinky the rotting food gets. They're lazy, disorganized, and hope the thief or thieves already got fired because of all the stole though they have a job to care for patients.

Pharmacy as slow as snails. Took over 45 minutes from check in kiosk to first window. Sent me to window 2. Lady says you're at wrong window. I said this is where I was sent. She turns me away. I go to open window 6 she says younger to go to window 9 but I have to put you back into the queue. I go to window 9 not glued up yet but the SSgt helps me anyway. Thank God for him. That's why the 3 stars otherwise it would have been one star

Have taken my kids to the ER 3 times, for the same stubborn cough they’ve had since November. Er has tested them for covid and they’re negative. And inform me to schedule with pediatrics to get seen by them for better insight. I set up an appointment that’s always 3 weeks out, they’re phone line is a joke, never answers or returns calls. Had to get a hold from a nurse on the nurse advice line to connect me to a REAL operator to set up an appointment for my kids. Had the appointment set for today at 8:40. They can’t see my daughter because she still has the cough. Exactly why I’m here?! ER told me to come to you guys and now you’re trying to send me back to ER to get re-swabbed??? Even though the results was only two weeks ago??? What a joke. Get your staff together and actually start caring for your patients instead of a robot answering the calls, along with playing the “Go to er, go to pedriatics, go back to er” game. One of My kids are missing school because you guys are using the “Covid guidelines” as an excuse to not see them.
