My son was born at 26.4 weeks weighing 1.15lbs and 13.5” long. I had him at another valley hospital. For being a micro premie, the only major thing wrong was/is his lungs. After getting sick multiple times and the doctors at this other hospital didn’t think he would survive, I demanded he be moved to UMC. Doctor Banfro, in the NICU, accepted my child and came with his staff to pick him up. Within minutes of my son arriving to UMC, the ENT team came up to assess Eloi, and decided that early the next week, he would have to have a trach. That is when I knew I made the best decision I could make for my baby. The care that all four of the doctors gave my child was outstanding. They always kept me informed of what was going on, good or bad. The entire NICU team (nurses, RT’s, OT and anyone else I am forgetting) gave my son the best care. They taught us how to care for him and his gtube and trach. I cannot put in words what they all mean to me. It’s because of God and the NICU staff at UMC, that my baby IS ALIVE AND HOME AFTER 296 days in the hospital!! He’s home! I recommend UMC over any other hospital!! Thank you again, Dr. Banfro, Dr. Reyes, Dr. Al and Dr. K, and his primary nurses, Lira, Kim, Siobhan and Frances!!

Thank you to all the doctors who work here at Umc, you are all incredible. Thank you to Miss Cici, for making our experience a good one, a positive note before we left home! Thank you UMC for bringing the best of the best to UMC

I took my son here about 3 weeks ago… starting with registration the experience was HORRIBLE! The receptionist, she was so rude, rolling her eyes all the time I answerd a question. We were in a tiny little room that was so so so dirty! Garbage can was filled to the top, the room smelled like a garbage can, the floors were so disgusting, not to mention that the doctor didn’t even introduce herself when she came in, she probably was in the room for 30 sec and then told us we were good to go! I will definitely neverbe back here with my son!

I would give no stars if possible. This is the worst hospital do not bring your children here. I brought it 9 month old baby here who is sick with a high fever and cough and is having a hard time breathing and the doctor literally checked her ears put her stethoscope on her chest I kid you not for less than 2 seconds and said she was fine and wasn’t going to run any tests. Apparently my baby looked to happy to be sick. Told me to come back if she couldn’t breath or if her fever doesn’t break in 5 days. Tf! The doctor walked out in less than 5 minutes. This hospital is horrible. I’m from sounthern California and I’ve never had a bad experience in a hospital before. I just moved here and will not be coming back here again.

this is the worst hospital here as they don't want to do their job, I brought my son because he has a virus and infection they sent him here for emergency surgery before the infection reaches the bone and Dr. Bargham said that the It won't be surgery right now because if he doesn't have a bone infection he doesn't see it as anything, and if he has a bone infection he will be given more antibiotics for another 6 weeks, and my son has been taking antibiotics for 3 months and they haven't helped him until I asked for his name and he was responsible for what happened to my son, he said that he was going to make an Emoraid,, let's see until what time they deign to come and bring my son to take him.

We have been here for 4 hours. My stepson has a possible head injury, and we were told by urgent care to get him to UMC and that he needed a CT scan yet they have taken several other families before us. I have seen staff standing around, jaw-jacking not giving us any information or updates as to why we have not been seen. I swear there is only one doctor working and no one knows anything. Go to Sunrise! The patient experience is horrible.

I would give the NURSES 5 stars just because they do the work . The doctors come in for 2 seconds and I'm not happy with them at all. My mother worked in the lab for 20 years and my Aunt worked there for 30 years in Administration so I know this place pretty good.. This is a teaching hospital so I get it but when your child has bad veins DO NOT let the lab draws come from the techs , they don't listen to you they act like they can't speak English and they poke and have to re poke and still not listening to you or your screaming child. If you absolutely have to come here always ask for the peds emergency room nurses to come in and draw their blood. They are the best and honestly shame on the administration for allowing the techs come in and let's call it what it is torturing these babies. AGAIN THE EMERGENCY ROOM FOR THE PEDIATRIC TRAUMA UNIT IS THE BEST. ALL THE NURSES ARE GREAT ALL OF THEM WORK SO HARD EVERYDAY AND REALLY CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENCE. The nurses in this hospital are the true ❤️ of this hospital without them the doctors would actually learn bedside manor as well as the lab techs.

Just amazing, Jan 2023, my 4 year old contracted a rare, life threatening illness (kawasaki) in vegas. They took amazing care of him, the staff here did everything they could to make this kid happy, surprised him w. toys, made him custom ordered food etc.... throughout a few days, they determined the issue and administered the correct meds to bring him back to health. Hes fully recovered... the staff even did their best to accommodate for us/parents... just amazing! rooms cleaned/clean no issues.

This place is the worst my son has been waiting for his surgery for two days and they keep pushing it back they made us wait in the er for almost 12 hours and they lied to me telling me that if he is admitted they will do it in the morning and here it is 1 in the after noon and still have not got him in there these people are really rude and they discriminate way to much just because I’m a dad and my son got hurt they treat me like I’m a bad guy the staff here is the worse they don’t care about family’s that’s for sure if I could give this place a zero I would they should make that option cause this place is so bad I’m never coming here again worst people and service you will ever have to deal with I’m very displeased and dissatisfied with the care they showed my son oh wait they showed no care they just don’t care

This hospital is absolute garbage. My 7 week old is sick with RSV, we were unwillingly forced by ambulance from a ER free standing clinic to here, unaware of how disgusting, ill ran, understaffed and incompetent the few staff they have were. Me and her father are now sick from being here, my daughter is getting no better the rooms are freezing cold and we share with another extremely sick infant. He is currently sleeping on the tile floor because they literally didn’t have one extra chair. The nurses show up maybe once every 6 hours and I have to hit the button five times and wait twenty mins before one even shows up. Even when her oxygen levels and dropping extremely low. Make sure you do not come here and if they give you a choice go to any other hospital. This place is absolute trash.

Terrible experience. Because I didn’t agree with my sons care. A man name Dave who is the on duty administrator came into my room because I wanted to complain about my sons care but instead he threatened to have me arrest and my son would be with cps and they would be in my business for a year. Not once did I yell cuss or attempt to remove my son. It was unnecessary for him to speak to me that way. The staff was there and none of them said anything. No mother should ever go to a hospital and have their rights and voice taken away and threatened for absolutely no reason. My son who was suffering asthma was terrified I’d be takin to jail and he’d never see me. I would never bring my son back to this hospital they have no respect!!

The absolute best! I took my daughter and everyone we talked to were so nice! The admission lady was so nice, the nurses were amazing! The doctor listened to my concerns and really did everything to make my mind ease a little. My daughter needed a breathing treatment and the respiratory tech was so nice to her and did amazing at explaining the procedure and how to use her new inhaler, and my daughter also had some X-ray done, the X-ray tech was just as amazing! He was so nice and made her so comfortable with the X-ray! Thank you all so much!!!!

Came from texas on vacations sadly my daughter got sick started vomiting so I brought her here. Registration was quick. The first nurse was good the dr came to see her fast no waiting long times but i specially want to give a big thanks to the nurse Ann B she was amazing i will give her 10 stars if i could. My lil one is special needs and she was really sweet and playful and patient and take care of me, making sure i was ok and even brought me a lunch tray and a better chair and blankets. Dr. Rodriguez from 2nd floor another 10 stars he was really good and he took his time to explain things and the steps we need it to make and making sure he was giving the extra mile understanding my lil one disabilities to help her better . The only downside for me was he decided to admitted her cuz she needed it and the waiting for the room was crazy hrs and hrs of waiting in the ER . He came a few times to let me know about results and telling me they were waiting on a room but jeez it was a looong time overall everything was good but my stars goes more to the nurse and the dr i mentioned . Thank u !!!

UMC is a great hospital. My child was transferred there from ST Rose and they gave us all the help we needed. We were transferred out of state due to his diagnoses via life flight, made possible by Dr Ben Ari was awesome! Again we want to thank you so much. Best doctor ever. To the UMC PICU team you were awesome and we could not have asked for a better team.

This is an excellent hospital. I used to go across town to sunrise because of the reviews but this is my third time here for my child and they’re amazing. The surgery team. The pediatric unit. All amazing. Even the er nurses were amazing.

My son is autistic and is terrified of new places, elevators, and strangers. When we got in the door he immediately curled up in a ball on the floor. There was pretty much no hope of getting him on the elevator and to the 3rd floor to the pediatric er. A staff member almost immediately recognized what was going on and came to talk to me. They called down what they call a child life specialist. They have people on staff specifically to make health care accessable to kids with disabilities. She brought toys that insterested him and was clearly trained on how to deal with the challenges that come with autism. She took time to make him feel safe in this strange new place. They unlocked the stairs for us and with the help of the specialist managed to get him up the stairs to the 3rd floor. He was too afraid of the elevators to leave the stairwell. So the Dr just came out and treated him where he was. The Dr even called me twice the following week to check on him because she knew how hard it would be to bring him in again if he didn't get better. I'm so thankful for the accomodation and understanding that my son gets here. This doesn't happen anywhere else which makes healthcare largely inaccessible to him. Thanks UMC for creating an inclusive environment.

The place is dirty the walls aren’t clean and cabinets are chipping the floor need resurfacing. For this to be a children’s hospital it should be more cleaner.

ON 2/18/2024 I arrived at umc pediatric emergency with my children ages 9 and 10 . they did a RSV Flu & covid test shortly after we were told we could leave without any final results as they could take up to an hour I was handed a bunch of discharge paperwork one of which is supposed to be for UMConnect as that is where you would be able to view your results for said tests upon me getting home I realized there are no login credentials and it states specifically on paper work to have UMC staff help you sign up and associate Childs account knowing this staff still sent me home with absolutely no credentials or answers reached out via email for help have yet to receive a response children are still extremely sick Im gonna have to take them to another medical facility today . a complete waste of time .

The staff here AMAZING they are soo nice. When I first walked in a gentleman was leaving he asked if I knew where I was going I told him no he literally walked me to the trauma. Wonderful people here! The only negative remark the regular hospital is so nice and up to date but the children’s hospital need some remodeling but the staff is AMAZING!

Black nurses are awful doesn’t care about my child .. they literally torchured the child by picking multiple times and collecting blood just like they do for adults ..inexperienced blood collectors even with the vein finders they pricked baby several times for one blood draw collection and they torchered baby atleast for 20 mins for taking out each blood sample, they don’t have sufficient rooms and they put us 2 different patients in one room awfully .. Very bad response from nurses especially black nurses.. very bad rooms to stay for treatments they look like a refugee rooms just like they provide treatments to homeless ppl .. I suggest it’s bad idea to get in this hospital very awful experience.. they just torchered for 5 days both of us me and my baby who admitted ..

I came here on Wednesday 11/01/2023 after my son had a fever for more than 12 days. We had already been tested for COVID-19 and flu which was negative at an urgent care. I specifically stated that multiple times but Doctor Julian Orenstein MD, he kept downplaying my concerns about my son having a fever for 12 days and ended up prescribing flonase. My baby did not have any nasal congestion but chest congestion with a dry cough and high fever. Like seriously??? My son has Autism so he is not able to express his pain. We don't go to the ER Mr. MD just for the sake of going….we come here when we can not find any more answers. You should be ashamed of yourself. This doctor did not test for anything and did not even try to. As I write this review on 11/03/2023 at 04:24 am, I am crying because my son has suffered, he has tested positive for strep and lung infection (pneumonia) as per the X-ray done at another ER. You and I know what steps can do if left untreated. It is sad to see a leading ER hospital in Nevada for pediatrics being so negligent. I hope you become more serious with your job Mr. Orenstein. And take your patience seriously especially when they present themselves with symptoms that have lasted almost 2 weeks. Must a patient be brought in on an Ambulance 🚨 to be taken seriously??? I am so so 😭

Very good nurses, very helpful. They made me feel at home. During my stay they were very attentive. thank you. But the only bad thing is that everything is very expensive and supposedly they already gave me financial help but I don't think it's true

They discharged my nephew before looking at his XRay of his swollen fingers and said nothing was wrong with them. They were very OBVIOUSLY swollen and he in a lot of pain. No splint, no nothing, just some ibuprofen and sent him home? Usually they’re really good but that is just not okay.
