Great
alternative
adventure
to
the
hustle
and
bustle
of
the
strip.
Not
well
publicized
so
I'm
glad
I
found
it.
Learned
a
great
deal
about
the
history
of
the
MGM
lions
and
these
lions
in
particular.
Many
of
the
lions
are
veterans
of
the
MGM
Lion
Habitat
before
it
ended.
The
individuals
'on
duty'
at
the
MGM
were
rotated
from
about
20
in
the
group.
Crate
trained,
they
were
moved
to
the
hotel
for
their
'shift'
and,
if
one
wasn't
in
the
mood
to
'work',
someone
else
who
was
more
eager
got
the
call.
The
animals
here
are
Barbary
(now
extinct
in
the
wild)
from
the
MGM
and
South
African
lions
from
other
rescue/exotic
parks
that
closed.
The
oldest
girl,
Chilly,
will
be
20
this
year,
almost
twice
what
her
life
expectancy
in
the
wild
would
be.
Along
with
the
lions,
there
are
'rescues'
of
other
species
living
here
including
tortoise,
ostrich,
emus
and
cage
birds
that
people
dropped
off.
(Never
get
an
exotic
bird
if
you
aren't
prepared
for
the
long
haul
investment...it
ain't
a
parakeet
that
dies
at
2).
The
ornery
artist,
Ozzie,
is
a
highlight.
He
had
to
be
moved
because
his
dad
at
the
facility
he
was
born
at
wasn't
okay
with
another
guy
around,
even
his
son.
He
does
some
great
artwork
and
is
fun
to
get
up
close
and
personal
with
to
feed.
Easy
going
and
gentle
but
also
a
teenager
who
likes
to
remind
his
keepers
some
time.
Be
sure
to
take
your
time
so
you
don't
miss
Harry
and
George's
keeper
demonstrating
examination
through
a
little
meatball
enrichment.
Spend
a
little
and
feed
or
paint
with
Ozzie.
Spend
a
lot
and
feed
a
lion.
And
don't
miss
posing
with
Shifty
as
he
sits
on
the
land
rover
right
behind
your
head.
The
staff
here
is
amazing.
Knowledgeable,
friendly
and
interactive
with
all
the
guests.
You
can
tell
they
love
their
charges.
This
is
a
hidden
gem,
not
to
be
missed
