Beautiful lake and beach scenery. The surroundings are quiet and peaceful, which makes you feel tranquil and serene. Between the shore and the inland edge of the dune field, sand alternates with the vegetated ground. Under the warm and bright sunshine, seen from a very high and faraway place, rising layers of mountain peaks make a magnificent scene. It is also a great place for hiking, fishing, camping, or just having a rest for fun.

What a beautiful place!! It is a little hard to get back here you definitely need a 4 by 4.. great secluded area to swim and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We went during the full moon and then woke up to spend the 4th of July on the lake. What a great day!!!!! Definitely check the wind before you go because after 10 to 12mph you don't want to go out there !

The real beauty is away from the water and hiking in the hills. E.g.: Rainbow trail, Bowl of Fire trail. Amazing

On the weekend it's busy, get there by 9 or 10 to get a good spot if going to the beach. Regular cars can make it. Bring lots of water and shade! Water is swimmable, there is a pet friendly area, fishing pier, many flush toilets along the way, and it is easy to launch your own kayaks and jet skis from the beach. There is a fascinating island you can boat to also. (See photos) Check it out! Life vests and wake zones are strongly enforced by authorities.

Make sure you have your National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Annual Pass. Wow, $80.00 is worth it! Things get a little Crazy here in Las Vegas, but you can relax at the lake. Great activity for a day trip and you can cookout or bring some food. The beach is nice and you can get some sun. A paddle board would be advised for enjoying the lake. Not dried up and open for business.

This place is so peaceful and the water is very beautiful and clear. The views heading there from Las Vegas was so stunning. Being able to drive close to the water at the beach area was amazing! You can swim in lake mead, fish, take your boat out there, kayak, camp, etc. There are restroom stations along the water which was a plus. It's very clean there. We went around noon on a weekday and it wasn't a lot of people there. We had a lot of privacy and was able to enjoy the beautiful views peacefully. We love to camp, so hopefully next time we will camp out and get to enjoy the sunset.

Once on site, was able to take a shuttle to 3 different locations, each more beautiful than the next. The shuttle drivers were great, providing history and entertainment along the short ride. Totally worth it.

Lake Mead is a beautiful location. The lake is usually very busy with activity. I have been there many times in the past. The lake is especially great for water sport recreation. This is a great place to enjoy the outdoor scenery and wildlife. I recommend stopping by if your passing through.

Wonderful! This is a lovely little Oasis Sitting by Lake Mead. RV sites are large with plenty of room in between, the staff is friendly, the views are stunning, you can walk to the lake and there is also a Marina with a few groceries, and a restaurant. Don't miss!

I love it here. I make the drive from Vegas several times a month. The Park is huge and has so much to explore and do. Lots of off roading roads to enjoy in a 4wd vehicle. I rarely encounter any busy areas or trails even on the weekends. Beautiful nature and lots of quiet places with beautiful views. Just know that areas that get close to the water can be really muddy, be perpared with the right footwear. Best to always have extra water on hand as well.

The water is so clear! We loved it. It was definitely a great way to spend our anniversary. We didn’t get to see nearly as much of the area as we would have liked but that’s mainly due to the heat.

One super sweet place to camp water is warm lots of people not a place to camp if your looking for isolation. There's a lot of scuba diving boats all types of water crafts, and let's not forget the fishing off the shore or on a boat it's great. The only downside to my family's trip was the coyote there must have been 4 of 5 of them and they have no fear of people if you have small kids just be careful other than the daily visit from coyotes our trip was awesome!

Plan an extra day from your Las Vegas vacation and head 30 miles east to check out Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and the surrounding area. Some of the most breathtaking views, starting with the drive from Vegas. Completely worth spending a day or two!

Beautiful lake with tons of beaches! Lots of wildlife which is surprising. Donkeys, coyotes, grey herons, loons, and the fish!! A very nice spot to spend the day.

What a beautiful place! I’ve never seen the lake when it was higher, so it looks great to me at these low levels. It is weird to see the launch ramps located 1/4 mile or more from the water. There’s lots of non-water activities to do and the scenery is second to none. Check out Valley of Fire right next door.

Great area to camp & ride bikes along the gravel roads. The desert views are pretty with spectacular sunsets. The mountains turn all kings of gold pink and mauve colors. Camped here for a week on our own mountain top. It can get very windy, but on days it's not fun to have evening fires. Heard coyotes bowling too the moon & saw a few from a distance.

Lake Mead is a fantastic destination to embrace the summer season. The serene atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it a delightful spot to relax and unwind. One of the highlights of Lake Mead is its pristine water, which is remarkably clean and refreshing, perfect for swimming or various water activities. However, what truly strikes me about Lake Mead is the reminder it offers about water conservation. As the water levels fluctuate, it serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of preserving this precious resource. It encourages visitors to be mindful of their water usage and reinforces the significance of sustainable practices. Overall, Lake Mead provides an enjoyable experience amidst its stunning natural beauty, while also prompting reflection on the value of water conservation.

I woke up to a sunrise that not only stole my breath but stirred my soul. I had to capture it on camera. It was like the sun mirrored heaven across the lakes surface. This was not only amazing hiking but also very good fishing from what I saw. But that sunrise........I wept.

There are lots of different trails in this recreation area. I've hiked a handful so far with my dog, bring lots of water no matter how short the trail. Sunglasses are recommended as well, and a good camera. πŸ˜‚

Located 40 miles east of Las Vegas city. Lake mead is considered one of the best places far from the city bustle that allows you to chill and have a relaxing day. If youre looking for adventure, you have come to the right place where so many activities are available such as hiking on the historic train road, swim near lake mead beach, rent a boat or water skiing. You can also enjoy a snack at one of the two restaurants at the pier harbour.

It's surprising how many people who visit Las Vegas are unaware of Lake Mead National Recreation Area. It's a beautiful place with stunning views and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. If you have some free time during your visit to Vegas, I highly recommend taking a day trip to Lake Mead. You won't regret it!

We had intended to visit the overlook over the Grand Canyon west rim but it started snowing as we were heading up there and when we arrived we were told they had just closed the overlook. Just our luck. Hahaha! The scenery was fabulous on the drive in both directions and we had the add bonus of catching a glimpse of 2 coyotes near to the road. Never seen wild coyotes before.

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE !! It is one of the nicest get away spots I've seen in a long time. It is large enough to have your own area for 500+ yards if camping. It is easy enough to get down to the water & swim. There are restrooms located in different spots around (port-a-john style). It is simply breath-taking.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. I came here to wing hydrofoil during the winter windy season and it did not disappoint. The park is impeccably clean and well maintained. I saw wild donkeys and met some really fun people doing the same thing as I was. I will definitely be back.

Impressive mountains. Climbing is hard but the rewards are well worth it. You should go up to the left and find a very beautiful valley behind the lagoon!!!good place!

Peaceful and spacious. Great camping on the water. But beware the trails. When it says 4wd they mean it. You will sink in the pea gravel.

View from the overlook was gorgeous! Stopped by for a quick look on our way to the Grand Canyon. Would've loved to spend more time checking out the area and the dam.

This has turned into one of my favorite places to visit! Make sure to fill your tank before visiting. It's about a 1hr -1hr 15 minute drive through and some side roads to turn off on- like Stewart Point. They have a boat launch with some restaurants. There are many beautiful hiking trails. One that leads right to the Hoover Dam. I spent much time at Stewart Point, located by the Valley Of Fire state park. It's another must-see if you have the chance. Stewart Point had disbursed camping. There is a restroom (toilet only) and a TON of spots to park by the water or back, where you will have more privacy. They sell ice for $6 a bag and gas for $6 a gallon at Owl Point, about 20 minutes away inside the park, or take a 30-minute drive to town and hit the grocery store. They have a few campgrounds. The first one is more for RVs (although you can car camp) and has no shower. Las Vegas is about 40 minutes from here.

Consistently an excellent walk. This area was new to us. There is always something new to explore in Lake Mead National Park. It's so Wonderful, that's it's in our own backyard.

So much to do here! We were just passing through enjoying a nice ride. But there are great places within Lake Mead to sit back and relax, go fishing etc.

$25/ car per day to get in. It looked amazing flying over so we decided to take a day trip to swim. The parking lot is very rough and there was a car with a flat. The "beach" is sticky muck and rock. The water was nice and the view was amazing

The entire drive takes almost 90 min to two hours. Lake Meade National Recreation Area is about 30 miles from LV and worth visiting.

Stunning 360 degrees of mountainous views. The lake is calm refreshing to swim in. It is nearly like bath water.

  • 5/5 Leo B. 2 years ago on Google
Gorgeous turquoise water lake in the middle of Nevada Desert. It would help if you have an all-wheel drive type of car, or else, you have to walk/small hike to get to the water. Go in the morning is better befor the heat from sun tortures you!

  • 5/5 Mark M. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely beautiful park with nice areas to pull off the road to get photos and watch the sunset. This park is also located very close to the "Lake Vegas" resort area. We were staying there and made multiple trips to Lake Mead while we were in town since it was so close.

  • 5/5 Vincent M. 2 years ago on Google
Lake mead was so nice and it was a great place to visit. There is a security checkpoint in order to go in the actual place, theres 2 gifts shops and also a place to eat. You can walk over the bridge and also over the dam itself.

  • 5/5 Paul Chunglo J. 1 year ago on Google
This place is amazing! There is something for everyone here. The views are phenomenal and nights are beyond belief with little to no light pollution star gazing at it's best. Lots of places to camp too. This time of the year can get pretty cold and windy so be prepared for anything from 75Β° and sunny to 30Β° and cloudy with a chance of rain or possibly snow?? We spent most of February and March here and most of the time it was great weather and only a few really cold windy days. I highly recommend checking it out. You won't be disappointed.

Cant see my feet through the water lol … I wouldn’t get in buttt my child loved it. No current. Perfect for kids imo. Also the road to the water is really bumpy but doable.. Careful with the huge rocks!
