Historical landmark

👍 Beautiful and a great change from the bustle of the city (though still busy). Definitely worth the visit, even if you're just doing the scenic loop in the car! Before going, I'd suggest learning a bit of the history of Agave Roast Pits and the petroglyphs/pictographs in the area, as some of the info... People often mention area,

Beautiful and a great change from the bustle of the city (though still busy). Definitely worth the visit, even if you're just doing the scenic loop in the car! Before going, I'd suggest learning a bit of the history of Agave Roast Pits and the petroglyphs/pictographs in the area, as some of the informative signs are quite weathered and hard to read. Only giving 4 stars because I found the trails to be not very clearly marked. "Easy" trails sometimes just ended as well as loops not being actual loops.

Interesting hand-pictographs here. Easy access, worth a visit if you are in the Red Rock Canyon area.

Every short easy walk to get to bathrooms (put toilets) across dirt road at the picnic area. Path is narrow but you have plenty of desert to step off the side to allow on coming tourists through

Just 40 minutes drive from LV. The valley of fire. Access to the park costs 20$ per car. Well maintained facilities. Beautiful photos. We were lucky it was not that hot. Plan to spend there 3-4 hours, bring your water and snacks. Definitely worth the visit.

These are like gazing into an ancient sketchpad. This was surreal to see in person.

You're never too cool for some good ol' Petroglyphs and Pictographs. Now, that applies to all ages.

Petrified handprints in the rock. Pretty awesome to see and very easy to access off the road

Nice pit stop on the way to the skywalk. Get out and stretch your legs and enjoy nature.

The site here is misnamed as it only contains a single example of a historic pictograph. A large boulder is just feet away from the paved parking lot and has an amazing display of ancient handprints. Being so close to the parking area makes it easily accessible to almost everyone. It is a fantastic example of an ancient Native American pictograph. This handprint pictograph is located at the Willow Springs picnic area, accessed from the Scenic Loop Drive. It is not located on the White Rock Loop which is a hiking trail. The pictograph sits alongside the paved parking area. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is managed by the USFS and is a fee area. But the 13 mile Scenic Drive is amazing and has many viewpoints and stops for a multitude of trail options.
