This place has tons of potential!!! Great food. Great drinks. Great service. The area La Monja is in is beautiful. I would say the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars is because the prices for meals is expensive for what you get. I got 2 tacos for $14 and my husband got 2 enchiladas ... We also got chips and salsa for $3 ... We were hungry a bit when we left. So as long as you're prepared for that aspect then you'll be ok. Oh and also the hours aren't as listed on page... Says they had happy hour from 3-6 and they don't open til 5pm.

Stopped by for dinner and to pre-game before the Yelp Very Vegas party...good times.. La Monja ambiance & service: This mom & pop sized cantina showcases a full sized bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Contemporary decor with painted art on their walls makes for an attractive dining area. Our server was very friendly and took care off our menu questions. The kitchen was quick with getting the dishes to the table. La Monja Cuisine: The Yelp BFF tried the Blood In Blood Mezcal cocktail which was tasty and refreshing. The classic margarita was put together well for me at this dinner. Small portions but the grilled octopus matched well with the smoked chili and duck chorizo. The White Fish ceviche was fresh and savory. The Barbacoa tamale was definitely our favorite dish. It was generously sized and the meat was packed with flavor. Overall we had a nice dining experience and will probably revisit to try more dishes. Since the Barbacoa tamale was such a hit, I'll probably lean towards ordering the meat dishes next time. Enjoy!

Visited on their Grand Opening night. Service by Emilio was excelent he was on top of everything and even remembered our names and almost felt like we were speaking to a friend. Main dish did take a while to arrive but considering it was their Grand Opening I didnt make a big deal. We started with the chips and 3 different salsas and shrimp empanadas. The salsas were closer to something you'd use as a marinade vs a dipable sauce but they were pleasant. The empanadas were great! It was more stuffing than maza and even though they were fried they did not taste oily. Our main dishes was the Octopus with pipian and the hanger steak a la parilla. I would return for the octopus in a heartbeat! Very tender and seared to perfection. The veggies complimented that plate perfectly. The veggies with the hanger steak on the other hand did not. I am a fan of escabeche which we ordered but had more onions than veggies which made it not worth the price to be honest. But the vinegar veggies threw off the whole taste of the steak, which alone would pull off the whole dish. Especially if the steak could have stayed warm but it was cold once it arrived. The classic margaritas are a must try and if you request it with mezcal instead makes it even better. The smokiness of the mezcal they used on that particular margarita was light and blended seamlessly into the drink. The chamomile flan was also delicious. I thought the before photo was saved but here you can see the aftermath of it. I would go back for the classic margarita with mezcal, the octopus in pipian and the flan! Be ready though because the space is kind of on the small side but their outdoor area looks great on a nice night!

Solid experience for restaurant that was relatively newly opened. Food was outstanding. Everything we had was prepared and served right in front of us. Kitchen staff quite engaging. Product was excellent. Ceviches were fresh and balanced. Mole with black beans and albondigas was nice combo. Special scallops with strawberries was to die for even though it is a little early for strawberry season. All the drinks we had were well structured, with though and effort put behind them. Well presented too. Anything that was claimed "spicy" actually had some heat unlike most places that are too scared to appease to the masses. Restaurant is set up and dressed well. Can't wait to sit on patio once weather turns for the better. Service was not as sharp as we would have liked. Our server was defintely green and didn't take all initiative with us. Not that we necessarily were in need of anything as many staff members eager to help. But many basic service points missed. Server level was not up to level of food. Overall, plenty of staff that were mostly all on the same page. Will defintely be back for new brunch. Great value for the feast we had. Keep up good work.

Chic cantina at Ferguson’s with a massive patio. Portions and menu items are ideal for sharing and a great tequila/mezcal list. Overall nice experience, will be back.

This place is definitely a gem. The bartender is super friendly, and the drinks are innovative and delicious. This seems like a neighborhood that's undergoing gentrification, which made me very suspicious at first, but despite the general vibe of gentrification in the area, the people at La Monja were very genuine and nice.

Chill vibe and great food. We ordered the loaded oysters, steak and lamb for Valentine’s dinner.

My family and I are big Dan Krohmer fans. We love Other Mama and Hatsumi. So, we had to try La Monja Cantina, which we ate at pre-COVID-19. RESTAURANT: The restaurant is small, but hip and has a nice outdoor area. It is located in Fergusons Downtown, which has become the go-to spot in Downtown Las Vegas. The restaurant is a perfect fit for the area. SERVICE: The staff is upbeat and friendly. The night we went, they were very busy, so the service was understandably slow. FOOD: We ordered the Oysters, Baby Corn, Potato Mole Taquitos, Empanadas, Fish Tacos, and Grilled Octopus. The baby corn is a really fun dish and unique with the husks. The potato mole taquitos were good, but my favorite dish was the empanadas. Overall, all of the food was good, but we were not blown away like we are when we eat at Hatsumi and Other Mama.

For starters, we had the Chicken Mole Taquitos, empanadas (sooooo good!), and roasted cauliflower. Everything was really, the mole was perfect and we loved the fried egg on top, the roasted cauliflower was also good, spicy but the winner was the empanadas, we liked it so much we order two more servings!

Great atmosphere. Delicious food. The grilled octopus is better than steak. Good service. Friendly staff always checks on your table and they seem genuinely happy to be working there. Great music and drinks. This could be a date night place definitely. A little pricey but worth it. Beautiful patio space.
