Good morning, I leave two stars for the bad drink that they made us go through in the last instance two days ago, which spoiled everything good during the stay, we had the return flight at 8:00 AM we left the hotel to 6:45 AM running to look for a taxi, the problem is that the Arab hotel concierge told us that he was in charge of asking us for one, we told him that we needed it quickly and he told us not to worry, because after seeing during 15 minutes of waiting how free taxis passed everywhere we told him that we did not wait any longer, that we were going to miss the flight, we stopped a taxi and the concierge got angry, he told us that it was not long and we told him that we did not plan to wait any longer, We told the taxi driver what happened and he told us that it is a common practice in some hotels, they call taxis "friends" in exchange for a commission of 5-7 EUROS, since we took the flight by miracle and if we had continued waiting for the concierge's friend, we would have lost... end very bad experience, I do not think we will return.

Room did not match photos on the website. It was very small, wasn't even really big enough for the furniture it has in it. About an hour after we checked in we started hearing loud banging noises from above us and loud noises from the pipes. After talking to someone at reception (who didn't really seem to care) they did give us another room. When we got to the other room (which was similarly small and cramped) the bathroom was disgusting which made us question the cleanliness of the rest of the room. At this point we no longer comfortable and opted to leave book another hotel. While looking for another hotel nearby we discovered the same room type that we had booked being advertised for 200 euros cheaper! Spoke to reception again and received no apology and was asked no further questions when I explained that the room was dirty. Then had to wait for half an hour for a manager to come and process our refund. We were only refunded for 3 out of 4 nights despite only spending a couple of hours in the hotel, most of which was dealing with issues. Would not recommend, would not return.

Stay away. They don't care about you. I arrived to a room that smells like a sewer. Second room next day the same, the smell. They sent a plumber and it work for a few hours. Next morning the same, then on Xmas day house keeping rushing me to get let clean. I'm still staying here!!! I left and came back from sight seeing, and my room was not touch. Reception tells me if want to change my room petty didn't care. DON'T stay here, not even for free!!! Other than Zacaria from housekeeping is the only one that sincerely apologize and took care of the situation on the last knight at 930 pm . I was here 4 day. I will stay with NH Gran Vía was there 3 months ago.

Two stars because the front of house staff was AMAZING. That being said, the cleanliness was horrible. Our first room was disgusting. The pillow smelled of a weird perfume or urine? Pillows stained. Stains on the walls. Shaky uncomfortable bed. Grime in between shower tiles and makeup smear on the mirror. We brought our concerns to the front the next day (we got in late and they had no other rooms available). The next room had a better bed, sturdy and comfortable. Clean pillows. The shower was still dirty, lipstick on the toilet and stains on the walls. 4 stars? No. At that point we gave up and accepted it because we didn’t want to move again. Rooftop bar access for guests was B.S. they said we’d have no issues getting a spot as guests of the hotel. We sat on the pool deck level for over an hour and never gained access. The pool gets overcrowded by guests so don’t expect a seat near the pool. The lifeguard was a bit creepy staring at the female guests. The drinks were 10/10 though.

If your looking for a fantastic location then this Hotel ticks the boxes, there is a rooftop pool and city viewing area and there is a fantastic plant wall including a waterfall , which can be viewed on a platform on 4th floor. All things considered good value for money in a central location, only slight criticism was our room was somewhat pokey with very little natural light.

Whilst the location is very good, this hotel does not deserve its stars. Its outdated, nothing like the pictures, saying that I could live with in outdated decor in Madrid but the staff. Oh my god, how unprofessional and rude. Not a single smile, unpleasant throughout, not a place you feel welcome in! Pick a different place!

AVOID IT. Staff needs some customer services training. The pool was closed on Saturday because of a private event, they should charge less for the rooms when you can't use the facilities. We couldn't use the pool on Saturday - their solution was to opened it "earlier" or something like that. Basically the time we were out and about Madrid. That's not a solution. You should charge WAY less for the rooms. - PLUS: I asked them to have a guest at the terrace on Friday evening and they didn't allowed me to have 1 guess at the bar, when they knew that on Saturday the pool+terrace would be closed. ("Not until 8pm" - it was like 6.30pm, there wasn't any harm for 1 person to come upstairs with me. We had to go to the Emperador Hotel round the corner.) The person who is at night allowing outsiders going up to the terrace was really rude - like if he expected me to queue to get into my room! I've emailed them and they've ignored me. - I hope they don't write a copy and paste message to this post now. That will make me laugh. - That's not a solution. Breakfast staff were great: from the host taking people's name to the waiting staff, cleaning tables and multitasking. Thanks!

We arrived home today after 5 days in this hotel. The hotel was lovely and perfect spot for everything but after requesting a nice room with it being a special occasion I was in the smallest room I felt like they’d just put us a bed in a cupboard which just looked onto a brick wall which had pipes all down it so the room constantly smelt of drains if we had the windows open ( it was warm so needed them open) at first we bought bleach and constantly poured it down the toilet and sink but it didn’t help, we booked a double room but got a petite room which also had no minibar as advertised. The fridge was also warm and didn’t work.

I would NOT recommend this hotel. Me and my partner originally planned a 2 night stay here. When we checked into our room it did NOT look like the photos from the official hotel website. We booked the Petit Room and it was extremely disappointing. The carpet was stained, there were black scuffs/dirty marks on every wall, clearly not vacuumed well, the restroom was disgusting, and the bed was horribly uncomfortable. It was also very stuffy in the room which made it even more difficult to have a good night rest. We ended leaving a day early. The pictures on the website were completely deceiving… DO NOT STAY HERE.

Stayed in two different rooms, one quieter and more expansive than the other. The staff were universally friendly and helpful, the breakfast is better than at most hotels with buffets. If you have issues with staircases, ask for instruction on avoiding them-- though the breakfast room virtually requires a few stairs down and up . A good stay!

My friends and I tried to book their pool day package on 3 different occasions and each time the hotel told us they didn't have space for us. But then they tried to get us to book a room overnight for double the price of the offer they publish online. So, they did have space, they just didn't want to give us the offer that they have published on their own site. Was really disappointing because they told us we could only book the day before, so after they declined us we had no plans because everything else in the city was already full. Super disappointing.

Location is great, lobby and commons areas are nice but the rooms need help. We had to ask for an upgrade because the room we first booked was way back in the back of the annex, too small to walk even around the bed, old and out dated, carpet dirty with stains, green tiles in the bathroom, moldy. Definitely not anything you would expect for a 4 star hotel. The upgraded room was better bit still had issues with lots of scratches on the walls and floors, shower was broken. The room service was awful. Several times we had to ask them to do up our room because it was already early afternoon and they had yet to clean our room. Breakfast is nothing spectacular. We have had better breakfasts at 3 star hotels then this 4 star hotel.

Awful experience. Can literally hear everything outside your room. Footsteps in the room above me, two members of staff walked in to my room in the same day while I was in there. Doors closing are very loud. Very difficult to get a good night's sleep. WiFi also not good. I've been to a number of hotels in the last few years in Madrid and this was a bad choice. Avoid at all costs.

The hotel is in a great location, quite close to several Metro stations. The room was fair, good bed, with the possibility to black out the windows for good sleep. My room was quite in the middle of the building, so it was quiet overall. Bathroom facilities are quite nice. Breakfast provided is continental, very similarly to other places, it's quite satisfying. The Internet service provided is terrible. There is a basic service provided with no extra cost that is absolutely dismal, and there is another one for 2 EUR per 5 nights, which does not improve a lot, the speed is nice but the connection is lost at times.

We spent a long weekend in Madrid staying here. The hotel is so well located within easy walking distance of all the major sights and also right beside the metro. Rooms are comfortable. We had a courtyard facing room and it was quiet.

My bathroom had a glass floor above rough construction sand, with the workers footprints in it. An extraordinary design feature... but quite slippery!

The room had humidity in it and it was dated. We sent clothes for laundry and they told us they would be done in a day. The next day the said they needed one more day. On the third day, they gave us the laundry dirty because there had been a mistake. I have to say that the staff was friendly and the breakfast was great.

Situated at the best location in madrid , easy to reach nearby places and in the market. Service and food is also good . Some rooms are very good and others are somewhat ok every room is different.

Stayed in this hotel when visiting Madrid. Perfect location for exploring the city. Its a very comfortable welcoming hotel with an amazing hanging garden in the middle of the building. The hotel is surrounded by lovely cafes, shops, little squares. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to any one visiting Madrid. I wouldn't choose any other hotel when visiting again. Tip: Get metro to "Plaza De Espania" from airport. The station is within walking distance.

The hotel rooms are so small, they had very tense colors which was very unrelaxing. Rooms were so dark also. Isolation was so bad I was able to hear the next room guest's conversation. Too expensive for what it is. The good things about it were: its excellent location, and the staff; otherwise not worth the money at all

We chose Hotel Santo Domingo Madrid because it was near the meeting place for day trips from Madrid. We stayed here for 7 days from March 2 to 9, 2023. We then realized that the hotel is the center of many interesting places in the city. We were hesitant at first to book because of some negative feedbacks. These didn’t turn out in our case. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of choices. Our room was cleaned, including vacuuming, everyday. The front desk, concierge and housekeeping were very helpful. We were glad to discover a gem of a hotel that offered value for money in terms of service, facilities and location. We had a pleasant stay at the hotel and a memorable vacation in Madrid.

Twice I’ve stayed here. Twice I’ve been disappointed. Sure the location is great but the rooms are not pretty nor comfortable. The smell of their carpets all over the hotel is pretty bad. We tried going to the pool peak hours of heat in the summer but it was closed for some reason. They take forever in check in and def overpriced

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and all the staff we interacted with were pleasant and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean; however, the infrastructure is aging and will be due for renovation soon.

The staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the location turned out to be really convenient. When I go to Madrid next this is the first place I'll try to book.

Great value hotel and location for the first time Madrid visitor. Next to a Metro Station for easy access to other destinations

We upgraded our room to a standard as no superior rooms available. Unfortunately the window wouldn't open and there was a stench of stale cigarettes. We were told they were fully booked and the window was awaiting repair so we would have to keep the room. They did promise to take a machine in to make it smell better. I'm not sure whether or not this happened but the smell didn't improve. Apart from that our stay was great. The slightly stinky room was very clean abd very comfortable. The fridge in the room was very useful. The rooftop pool was a godsend and the location perfect.

I would give it even more stars. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere inside, attentive helpful service, clean spacious rooms with state of the art shower. Best breakfast buffet. And in the middle of old Seville minutes from all attractions. We loved our stay here.

This hotel is in a wonderful walkable location. The service was fantastic with high-quality, helpful English-speaking staff. The breakfast was generous and delicious. The rooms were small, but I think this is pretty typical for the region.

The dish we ordered where unfortunately disgusting ... we order cannelonis with vegetable and it ended up being some pasta deep in some weird thick old cheese with cream and no veggies... awful. They were nice to make us pay only one dish

    - The guy working in the afternoon was very rude and unfriendly. He tried to charge me 2 times for the breakfast and when he saw his mistake didn't apologise at all. - The women working in the morning we very sweet and helpful. - The room was okay, nothing fancy. - They charged me 3 Euros for the towel at the pool. Never seen this before in any part of the world. - Forget the pool. It is small and there will be people around it sitting in high chairs looking down at your...you know, yeah - back! - good breakfast and the guy there was very kind. - I didn't feel good there, it's a strange place

Very polite and helpful staff. Room was comfortable and slept well. Room and bathroom cleaned daily to good standard. Excellent location- able to explore most of central Madrid by foot easily.

This hotel was clean, the breakfast was nice and varied, the staff were polite and helpful, and the pool/terrace was well kept. The location was great, with a metro station right outside. However, do not believe your room will appear as it does on the website. You do not know until you arrive whether you are on the modern side, of the old side. Whilst our room was clean and pleasant, it was extremely dated compared to what we thought we had booked. The pool is also ice cold - for a quality hotel, you would expect heated pools. And, the price of a non-alcoholic drink on the roof was €5 - extortionate. Overall, I would recommend staying if you booked over the phone and guaranteed a stay in the modern building. If not, I would avoid and look elsewhere.

  • 3/5 Jesse C. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel has an excellent location, unfortunately that's the only thing left. The maintenance and cleaning is not to the same level as they promise (4 stars). We found several small things that need fixing (broken window handle, A/C not working), many dirty spots on the floor together with a collection of handprints on the windows, and lastly, when I move the towel racks, I found some undesired company in the bathroom (4 small cockroaches). Still, the view from the room was fantastic and being so central was an advantage. Just set your expectations lower to what they advertise.

  • 3/5 Maria M. 2 years ago on Google
It was only ok. Room small but wasn’t an issue as we were out most of the day. The pool was always busy and annoying kids not behaving properly. Also you have to pay for a towel even as a guest of the hotel! I think this is crazy! It’s only €3 but it’s the principle. I’ve stayed at hotels all over the world and this has never been an issue. We also had a leak in our room coming from above! Location is the best part of the hotel as you can walk everywhere. I probably won’t stay here again… very average.

Worst experience in 2021 so far - 1. Staff - not supportive, never follow up, speaking mediocre English 2. Outdoor noice - even with closed windows you hear never ending party until 6am every day 3. Rooms require renovation. AC making noise - have to balance between comfort sleep and appropriate room temperature.. have to choose one 4. Breakfast not well organised - have to queue for coffee 5. It was a situation they make me very nervous. Seriously - if you recommend your provider and making commissions from that, you have to follow up - not me running around 20 min prior to departure asking you to make another call.. bad. 6. Btw - rooftop pool is not really an outdoor pool but covered with hard top and you feel like you swim indoors .. very small and not comfortable.. not like at the pic. Never recommend this place to someone.

Quite unfriendly personal, for a room for over 100 Euro a night. The room much smaller and less nice than on the web side. Even if you paid for a hotel with an pool you have to pay extra when you want to uses it. The restaurant was also one of the most expensive in town but the food was average. The receipionnist was giving us wrong information based on the Corona status and therefore we can not recommend this hotel for a stay

  • 1/5 Allie B. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is in a good location. The lobby and restaurant look nice but the actual rooms and hallways look like a motel not a 4 star hotel. The hallways smell like smoke. Someone had clearly been smoking in our room because the smell of smoke was especially strong there. It did not look or feel clean at all. There was mold in the shower and sink. The bed was very uncomfortable. The walls are very thin so you can hear everything from the adjoining rooms and hallway. Our room was right by the laundry room so the noise from the washing machine was audible all the time. The pool was not open even though the municipal ones are and the weather was above 32 degrees everyday.

3 things: location, location, location...! Although the rooms were nicely refurbished, and the new isle had apparently bigger rooms than the old one, it had unfortunately poor sound insulation, whether from the street, or from the corridor. Food wise, breakfast offer was good for a 4star hotel and rooftop served some nice tacos (but a burger arrived dangerously undercooked). Service wise, congrats to the Front desk staff who was quick and efficient, breakfast staff was OK (but with little or no interaction), as compared with the bar staff on the rooftop, who were coping really hard to deliver... They barely spoke little or not at all English (which is a Spanish problem in general), in addition to some very slow service and underlying rudeness, when moments were getting busy, while occasionally serving in parallel a tray of drinks at a private event in a function room nearby... Honestly, with such conditions and 40 degrees heat, we only felt compassion and understanding, but you cannot demand from a small group of guests, who enjoy some relaxing time with drinks at the pool, to order food all together at once, just because it's convenient for you...that was surreal!

Hotel Santo Domingo was decent. There were some issues like the room being too hot, no room service, and no gym. However, it was central to everything you needed: food, shopping, entertainment, and transportation. The problem with it being so central was all of the street noise. It was insane from the police or ambulances blasting there sirens all the time. The grocery store across the street being restocked at like 2am. And the people having no regard for the hotels there. The staff at the hotel were friendly and the room cleaning occurred on a daily basis. Lastly, the rod top deck and the waterfall on the interior was very nice. However, don’t know if I would stay there again, but it gave us close proximity to our son who stayed across the street during his soccer tryouts.

A bit dated, single beds in twin room were too small for adults. Carpet needed serious attention. Breakfast disappointing with cold food. Staff efficient and professional.

This is a horrible hotel please look for something else if you go to Madrid. The rooms are supper small nothing compared with the pictures on their website. Bathroom was duty broken and the shower will get flooded. I was really disappointed at this hotel. I don't recommend it.

  • 5/5 Erica P. 1 year ago on Google
The room was spotless however, the "triple" room was not big enough for 3 adults to get ready comfortably and the third bed was nothing more than a trundle bed. Fortunately one of our party is 5'1, anyone taller could not have slept in the third bed comfortably. Also, with the third bed in place, there is very little room to move around the room.

A good hotel with friendly staff. Good rooms, well kept and clean, with a good size. The addition of the pool on the roof, is super nice from a tourist perspektiv, when you have spend most of the day in the sun. To them relax in the cold water for s bit, is well worth star. Thank you, and will recommend

Please avoid this place at all cost!!! We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and sadly on the check out day we had the worst experience ever. We found out that our money ($1000) and credit cards we stolen from the room. The wallet was inside of our belongings and someone had to really dig into to find the small wallet with money. As soon as we find out about this we went to the front desk but they didn't seem care about the situation. They told us to go to the police station and file a complain. Unfortunately for us we need it to leave for another destination and we couldn't go to the police. We ask for the hotel to us the security cameras but they only told us that the only people that got into our room were us and the cleaning lady. They didn't even offer to call the lady to clarify the situation. So if you don't want this to happen to you make sure you find another place to stay because the hotel don't care about anything.

The location is perfect, silent nights during the evening as you will not be in the high street. The hotel has 2 towers of accommodation and I have been assigned to a juniour suite in the second tower (back), it was a nightmare dragging the luggage when leaving the hotel. The elevators are very small plus therr was a convention going on that week, so it was a nightmare to get to the room. Not pleasant at all. Even the persons from the convention staying at the hotel were complaining. Disappointing.... I will be able to advise in further posts when staying at the front tower. The parking is so convenient, a plus point!

A nice hotel for the price it cost us, we took it with breakfast and enjoyed it very much. There is an observation deck on the Irona floor overlooking the city. The rooms are nice but not over the top - but again relative to the location and value it is worth it.

Stayed for 6 days and enjoyed the experience. Hotel is right next to a bus stand and metro is right across the road. There are restaurants, super markets, bars, liquor shops nearby. I would recommend this place

I have booked one of the simple rooms and after seeing my room, I had to ask for a change. The first room was smelly, dark, overlooking a tiny outdoor staircase, through with anyone could enter the room thought open window. The second room was much better, amenities were suitable and I liked the decor. However, the walls turned out to be paper thin, I could hear everything what was going on the room next door as well as the toilet flashing in the room above. The location was great, and I enjoyed the roof bar.

The room we had was dated and the paint on the walls was pealing off in places. Hair all over the bathroom and a stain that looked like old blood on the curtain. There was a wet smell in the room and the small fridge didn’t get cold. The room was on the 5th floor under the club with a service elevator next to our room so after the club closed the cleaners was taking out all the glass bottles in bags from 2am to after 3am each night. It was not possible to sleep because it was so loud. The last shift front desk service attendant was not able to help and when we contacted the manager the next morning we were told there are no other rooms and there is nothing they can do. The breakfast was ok but at the price we paid it was not good enough. The location is super so no complaints there. Parking is crazy expensive, we used the parking garage from around 1pm on day one until the next day around 2pm and they charged us 57 euros for 25 hours. It would have cost us just 41 euros to pay at the same parking garage kiosk. And on top of all this there was no welcome drink as they advertised. No competition was offered. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel Santo Domingo boasts an excellent location in Madrid, just a short walk from various historical landmarks, parks, shopping centers, and dining options. The rooms are clean, though they may not be as modern as advertised online. The hotel’s comfort level is satisfactory. In comparison to the less-than-warm service we found elsewhere in Madrid, the hotel staff was noticeably more approachable, which was a relief. Despite the overall attitude towards customer service in the city, the hotel was a positive exception. I’d consider staying here again for the convenience and better-than-average interaction with the hotel personnel.
