A wonderful place to wander around on a sunny day. Care needs to be taken if you want to climb on the ruins and inside some of the buildings the roof is crumbling. But it's a fascinating piece of history on the edge of the beautiful city of Leipaja

Pretty much a hidden gem. We spent hours climbing through the broken fortress. It's accessible any time with plenty of parking options around. Best visited at sunset!

Crazy and outstanding place. Felt like a mini adventure during our visit, because it is quite dangerous to climb and walk on the ruins. So be careful.

"A long system of concrete fortifications was once part of the Naval Port’s defences, but was intentionally destroyed after a friendship and cooperation agreement was signed with Germany in 1908. It’s not known if the tsar later pondered the irony of blowing up such massive defences on the eve of WWI, but of course it's always easy to make jokes with hindsight. Today, you can cautiously walk through the ruins and watch buildings, pillboxes and concrete staircases slowly recede into the sea, but beware as a large section collapsed in a landslide in January of 2018. Similar forts are visible in the south of Liepāja where Klaipēdas and Ganību streets meet."

Good place to stop if you are in Liepaja. There is also a nice beach so grab swimming cloth if you visit it in summer ,otherwise its just nice picturesque location of old fort that now half broken and smashed by waves of baltic sea 🌊

Very interesting and I will say beautiful place (although we know that history and purpose was not that beautiful of these ruins). But sure very unique place now in Liepaja both for morw adventurous ones and for the ones who jsut love simple walks near the beach.

Interesting place to visit while visiting Liepaja. It's quite close, but I drove with a car as had a time limit. Car parking available. You can walk through of some decaying buildings, but be very careful as it is quite dangerous. There's also a quite clean rocky beach available for those who wants to refresh in the sea after a trip in hot summer. Not very busy during weekends.

The most memorable attraction in Liepaja. At first didn't expect much, but turns out that visiting this place can change your view about Liepaja from a simple seaside town to a historically rich and somewhat mysterious marvel of a city. While the ruins can be dangerous to walk around, if you stay on the track you're up for an amazing adventure at the sunken fortress. It can be a true delight for history fans, but also will not disappoint the usual beach resorters, no matter if it rains or the sun is shining. 10/10

Karosta (War Port) is a unique fortification complex on the coast of the Baltic Sea in Liepāja. The buildings show a contrast between the construction styles of the military facilities of the Russian Empire and the USSR. Today, Karosta is a particularly popular tourist attraction, especially the blasted forts.

This is the most impressive place in Liepaja! Easy parking next to the spot, a shore to explore: you can climb the fort, so make sure you have suitable shoes to enjoy the most.

The Northern Fort is an integral part of the Liepāja Fortress. Here you can walk subterranean labyrinth and bunkers, get information about Liepāja Fortress, its hisroty and construction.

Nice place to see. Take flashlights with you. Place is unprotected so watch after your children as it's pretty dangerous out there.

Historians will enjoy being in Northern forts. Especially military historians. For not knowing tourists it's going to be interesting to watch this place, but to understand the meaning and significance you should take guide.
