Great language school that really developed my Russian skills. The teachers are very knowledgeable and are patient with their students. This program does an excellent job of tailoring language material to the student’s ability. In addition, this language school offers several excursions that allow students to practice their Russian skills with locals and gain an enhanced understanding of the culture. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic study abroad group who focuses on the students and their full immersion and improvement. The staff is always helpful and always strives for improvement with their course. The teachers are wonderful people who make every effort to learn about the students and tailor coursework to better their individual needs. The staff also provides great learning opportunities through excursions to enable the student to learn outside of a classroom. They also work with local host families to again provide more learning and immersion outside of classroom time. I have done two separate study abroads with them and was not disappointed!

They offer a variety of programs and experiences while you are studying that extend past the walls of a classroom. I had the opportunity to live with a home stay family making Latvia feel like another place to call home. Our excursions also helped hands-on learners pick up new vocabulary and applicable language skills. Would recommend this program to anyone who is interested in learning Russian and being immersed in the language.

They are for sure the best place to learn Russian in the EU. There are different courses for students of varying abilities, and the instructors really focused on individual learning. Classes are fun and may be in a classroom or in a restaurant for a real-world lesson. We went to amazing places all around Latvia. Learning Russian here was one of the most worthwhile in experiences in my life. Janis is the man, and I would write him another five star review if I could.

Absolutely fantastic school with an incredible staff!! I seriously don’t have a single bad thing to say about anyone or anything. Everyone made you feel safe, welcome, and important. The trips they plan throughout the week were so exciting and eye opening. I learned more Russian in one summer than in two years of studying it at my university. More importantly my confidence speaking the language grew exponentially. From making lifelong friends and incredible experiences, it was truly invaluable!

I had a wonderful year studying Russian in Daugavpils through Learn Russian in the EU! The professors were supportive, kind, and flexible, and offered a curriculum tailored to the particular interests of the individual students. I stayed with a conveniently located host family and really enjoyed the excursions organized through the program, which took me on really enriching and fun trips throughout the Baltic states. I couldn't recommend this program more highly!!

Learn Russian in the EU is a great program! As a physics major, I would not have had the opportunity to study Russian abroad were it not for their tireless efforts to ensure I fulfilled my physics requirements at Daugavpils University. The Russian classes were challenging and enjoyable. Under Larisa's instruction, my Russian ability improved at the highest rate I have ever experienced. Outside of the classroom, Janis led our group on many excursions across Eastern Europe during the semester. We learned a lot about the regional culture while also having some of the most fun we've ever had. I highly recommend this program to prospective students. You will not regret it.

Studying Russian with Learn Russian in the EU was a phenomenal experience. The instructors and staff were kind, professional, and adaptive to our abilities - always helping us to learn more. The excursions, sports, living with a host family, and classes were top notch. Thank you for the experience, I would do it again in a heartbeat!

This program is easily the best experience I've had in learning Russian. First, the immersion is constant as the program is located in Daugavpils where Russian is the primary language for day-to-day tasks. Second, students take a proficiency test at the beginning and the program builds its curriculum around what will work best for the student. Finally, the teacher-to-student ratio is much higher than anything I've seen in regular university classes. While normal university classes might have one instructor per 15-20 students, this program will keep class sizes around 4 or 5 enabling tremendous one-on-one interaction between students and teachers. Not to mention that Daugavpils is in the EU so access for foreigners is much easier than other places. Overall, I'd recommend this program above any other.

I studied at Latinsoft and Learn Russian in the EU for about 3 months. When I arrived I could barely understand a word and could confidently say my name in Russian. When I left I was able to answer questions, help old baba's in the street with directions, and could carry on most conversations. A GREAT program to learn the language! Would recommend! The small class sizes help push you to really learn with teachers who are beyond willing to work with you. Great program.

Spending 4 months living in Daugavpils and studying Russian at Latinsoft will make you conversational in the language . The staff are professionals who are able to challenge students at any level . My courses involved writing essays , making/ giving presentations , and daily conversation in the language . At week 10 I made a trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg, I had no problem navigating the cities and was able to conversate with the locals at length . One of the best experiences of my life , it definitely left me with a desire to continue learning the language . Thanks Sergei and the rest of the awesome staff at Latinsoft .

One of the best experiences I ever could have done. I learned so much about not only Russian language, but the culture of Latvia and Russia. My instructor worked closely with me and my ability, she truly knew how to offer situations where we could apply what we learned. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

This study abroad program exceeded all expectations I had for it, and words cannot describe how much I learned from and enjoyed my time living in Daugavpils. I took half of my classes on the Russian language and the other half on a mix of political science and history topics. The professors were all extraordinarily knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and eager to teach me. There were an enormous range of courses to choose from, which allowed me to design my program specifically to fit my personal goals. The living situation was ideal for learning Russian. I had an amazing host mom and brother, who made me feel at home from day one. My host mom was incredibly kind and caring, cooked delicious meals, and was always there to help me out or give me advice. Almost every day after dinner, we would sit, drink tea, and chat for about an hour - which was almost as valuable as my formal classes for getting me comfortable conversing in Russian. And if I finished my homework for the night, my host brother would always be eager to play hide and seek, watch a cartoon, or show me his enormous collection of toys and gadgets. The excursions were also an incredibly valuable part of this program. We traveled all over the Baltics and even to Minsk, Belarus, learning about and experiencing each countries history and culture. The location of Daugavpils was also ideal for traveling on the weekends. Cheap buses and trains left straight for Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Warsaw, and other major cities. But it was often tempting to just stay in Daugavpils and organize a trip to our private banya (we must have gone 12 times in the fall semester), volunteer to take dogs for walks at the animal shelter, or just гулять with friends around the city. I have no complaints about this program and would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their Russian and have a blast while doing so
