The hotel itself is beautifully designed and in a beautiful location but customer service is rather disappointing for a hotel of that standard. I only stayed there for a night but that was enough for me to understand that the staff who work there are happy doing the bare minimum only and will not go above and beyond. I left an item in my room and not only it wasn’t found but the receptionist’s smug attitude was incredibly infuriating. One does not pay high rates to be treated poorly. It is truly a shame that hotels that once “were” aren’t able to keep up with the service they promise. I can already see a difference of customer service with the Tasman - and for longer stays recommend it without hesitation over mac1 as you will be looked after so much better there.

I love this hotel! The room was so cute and well appointed with everything we could have possibly wanted (fridge, coffee maker, tea kettle, robes, slippers, etc). The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. It’s a great location too, right on the water and walkable to some really nice things in Hobart (sailing, downtown restaurant area, and their amazing botanical garden is just 25 mins walk). The gym has a decent selection of weights, 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, ellipticals, a rowing machine, a cable machine. And there is a small laundry room upstairs right next to the gym which was so convenient. I would love to stay here again.

The best hotel in Hobart. You got a free valet service to start with, which is awesome. Staffs were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is known as a story telling hotel. You can get a free tour around the area if you stay with macq01 The room is spacious and well decorated. Each room is different and tells the story of a different characters. There's also games you can play with inside the room. Complimentary washing machine can be used on the 3rd floor. Overall 10/10 and would love to come back

The hotel room smells very damp, the room is not cleaned well; the bathroom floor is muddy and there are long black hairs everywhere. The room is facing a parking lot even if it was a superior room. The linens have holes in them. This feels like a roadside motel more than a top rated hotel.

Absolutely wonderful. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Location was great and close to Salamanca and wharfs. Hotel is really beautiful. Beautifully furnished and restaurants are also very nice. Room is spacious and furniture/decor is modern and well appointed. In room dining and bar and snacks were good quality, very yummy and reasonably priced. Nothing worse than providing in room dining and snack options that are extremely overpriced! Service is super helpful, attentive and prompt. When our return flights were cancelled and we needed to stay another night they were more than helpful with providing an extra night at a competitive rate. Also provided sparkling and chocolate to cheer us up. Thank you MACq01!

If the reviews below are anything to go by I have no doubt this hotel is amazing…unfortunately I won’t get the chance to stay there! I received a $750 voucher for my 40th birthday (in 2019), despite COVID travel restrictions in 2020-2021 the hotel won’t extend the validity of voucher. So in effect they have pocketed $750 of my friend’s and family’s money for no service in return. Poor form MACq01, certainly not number one in customer satisfaction and quite mean spirited! I’d be keen to hear others thoughts on this matter, please leave your comments below.

Stunning hotel and amazing staff! Couldn’t be happier to have stayed here during our long weekend in Hobart. All the reception and service staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and our room was outstanding. I’m pretty sure it was the comfiest bed I have ever slept on.

Love this place and would definitely stay again. Great rooms with comfortable beds, friendly service, and awesome location. The upgrade to a waterfront room was a bonus. We missed out on enjoying the outdoor bars but it’s in the plan next time. Great restaurants in the complex too. Highly recommend The Frogmore Lounge.

Very good hotel in Hobart. Loved the storytellers concept. The storytellers tour was fun! Food was amazing, rooms very big and clean, beds big and comfortable. Everything was perfect. Absolutely 5stars!

Without doubt the best hotel in Hobart, and if I’m honest, one of my favourite hotels anywhere in the world. The rooms are exactly what you need, with everything exactly where you need it. Decor is beautiful and the splashes of Tassie history throughout is great. Restaurant is first class. Location great. Views amazing.

Definitely would stay here again. Great room with a nice view. Clean and spacious room. Delicious food at the restaurant. Prime location. Bathroom needs better lighting, hard to put your makeup on. Needs a full length mirror as well. No light in the shower area. Bathroom does look good but the dark tiles can be too much with the bad lighting.

One of the best hotels I have stayed. Loved the storytelling part of this hotel and they have free tours too. You can read stories on each door. There is displays in the hotel too. Then there is the rooms. Huge rooms and wonderful beds. All the new movies are on the the tv too.

Great architecture and good rooms but ours smelt of sewerage which was not addressed and we were kept awake by noise. We will try somewhere else next time we are in Hobart such as The Tasman with its great bar and restaurant or Henry Jones.

I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful at all times. The location is fantastic as it is the perfect distance to the restaurants on the wharf, Salamanca and the CBD. The room... it was spectacular! I was incredibly fortunate to have had a Premium Waterfront Suite and it was massive and beautiful, and the view is just stunning. I highly recommend staying here if you ever get the opportunity.

A hotel to die for! The exterior and set up is amazing even though we are not big fans of historical stories. The room itself is just incredible! Not a single point to complain about! The bath robe is so comfy that totally beyond our expectation. The minibar is also a highlight of our stay. Great to have off street parking at the middle of this busy city. And we would recommend the ocean side and the view is just so stunning!

Location and hotel was pretty nice, the complimentary bubblies were a nice touch on arrival. Loved the restaurants and bars, but my favourite was the fire place at the front reception where you could sit and warm up. Rooms were spacey, service was great and in room services were great. The story telling stuff was a bit odd, especially the recordings they play while you catch the lift. Also shower pressure and temperature was so bad. Other than that views from the balcony was so nice and the surrounding bars and restaurants were really good. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

Loved our stay at MACq 01! Great design that was also very comfortable, and we loved the “stories” for each room and other places around the hotel. The location is great, right by the water in downtown Hobart. The room had lots of great extras - the minibar is to die for! - and comfy robes are always a nice touch. We had a very nice meal at the restaurant. The best part was the staff, though. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The staff really stepped up when I accidentally left a vital medication in our room, and they retrieved it for me, and arranged to transport it to the airport to us before our flight took off. Thank you so much!

This is a world class hotel with all the amenities you could want. Our room was enormous with great views of the harbour. The on-site spirits bar is also a highlight. Loved it.

A must stay at place in Hobart. Great room, friendly service, such a cool and unique experience. Highly recommend their complimentary story telling tour of the hotel. The rooms all have a story and the hotel provides all the best comforts for your stay. Their bars are also a must visit

The hotel is fitted out really comfortably and with multiple touches of luxury. My room had a large bathroom with double basins, a bath, rain shower and double basins. Amazingly there was heaps of room for hanging clothes and putting luggage. From the bed, all of that was subtlety hidden. Fast wifi and a comfy bed. Will definitely return here next time I am in Hobart. Also take a short walk to Hobart Coffee Roasters nearby for good coffee.

We stayed 2 nights at the third floor. Loved everything about it except for the very soft bed that hurt ny back but, the food, the bedroom, the location and view is magnificent. The price at the third floor bit too much from my own experience but other than that we had a great stay.

Hotel was quite nice but staff should really tone their superiority complex down a bit. You work for a nice enough hotel in Hobart not the Plaza Hotel in New York. The same could be said for the guests around the hotel as well, quite rude and cocky for no real reason. Only positives were the view, very new bathrooms and good sized hotel rooms. Staff should be reviewed.

A beautiful hotel in the best place in Hobart. Staff were delightful and could not do more to ensure your stay was special. The story telling walks were a highlight with knowledgeable and engaging guides sharing many interesting facts about Hobart’s past. We’ll be back.

First time in Tasmania and I stayed at the MACq 01. Beautiful modern hotel with the most helpful and friendly staff. Everything was perfect. I cannot fault a single thing. The entire hotel was pristine from top to bottom. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when I visit Hobart again. The location is prime. Located within walking distance of the best restaurants, bars, café’s, bakeries, markets, shops etc. I’ve been around the world and stayed in dozens of hotels. This is one of, if not the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fantastic stay. The location, rooms, restaurant(s) are all top class. The staff were very helpful, very professional and did their best to make our stay memorable. There was nothing quite like waking up in the morning and looking out across the harbour view. We definitely recommend this hotel!
