This hotel was okay at best. I arrived around 9-10 pm and there was no one manning the front. After calling for service the young man arrived and gave me a room. I went back and my headboard had greasy handprints smeared on it, hair on the bed, and I could the front desk worker talking to another guest. This finalized me asking for another room, I was driving for a long time and didn’t want to be woken every time the phone rang or someone came to the front desk. The second room was also slightly dirty indicated by the greasy smears on the headboard. I ignored it this time and instead just slept.

Solidly average. Fairly well maintained, lobby area was good. Bed was decent. TV and other room amenities worked fine. Not a lot of electrical outlets for devices, but could make do. Shower pressure was weak and the linens are cheap; the washcloths were paper thin and typical small bath towels. Hotel was nice and quiet but it was also a weekday in February. Did not visit the pool area so can't comment on that.

We were so greatful for the thoughtful, caring, & quick service! We were promptly greeted with a smile by the owner as we came through the front door. My mom, who just had surgery was struggling to get around. He quickly offered her a chair, she declined saying she could stand, so instead he went ahead and got us a room key close to the entrance and let me go help her get settled in the room then come back out to finish the paperwork. Our room was very nice, clean & had every amenity we could need. The owner gave a tour of wonderful, well kept, generous sized hot tub & pool. Both were clean and perfect temperatures! Very relaxing! You could tell he had such pride in his establishment. Breakfast was awesome with several options to choose from hot and cold both. We were very humbled by their kindness and generosity & will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommend!

Great little place to stay for the weekend! We traveled with two infants and were initially given a room on the second floor. (No elevator) With all of our “stuff” the owner quickly moved us to a ground level floor and helped move us in! Super friendly owners!!! :) Great breakfast with mini-waffles, eggs, biscuits and Gravy, donuts, coffee, juice, cold cereal, yogurt, etc… Awesome indoor pool and a huge Hot Tub! Will try that out tonight! Also has a very nice fire pit area outside for enjoying late night beverages or smokes!! Would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay in Ames. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. They are even willing to help bring your luggage to your room! The pool area is very clean with a large hot tub, great for relaxing with friends/family. There is something for everyone at breakfast. Easy drive to campus and downtown. I would definitely stay here again.

From the moment we stepped in the door, our experience was amazing! Very helpful/friendly staff. Always asking if we were enjoying our stay or if we needed anything. The pool was heated but a bit chilly for our 2 year old but she seemed to love it anyways! The hot tub was amazing and very large! The rooms are very clean and very quiet! Breakfast was super good too! Overall 5 stars from us! No complaints!!! :)

I normally wouldn’t write a review for a hotel because usually they are exactly what they’re supposed to be. This one is above and beyond what you’d expect. The staff and owner were so kind and welcoming and they obviously take great pride in their facility. This place is clean. Really clean. The pool area is awesome and the hot tub is huge and just the right temp. Room is clean and quiet. We’ll be staying again whenever our travels bring us this way.

We rolled in late around 10 pm and the staff were so energetically welcome and kind. They just so beyond nice to us when we were checking in so late. It’s tough to find great old school customer service sometimes and this place really nails it. Really clean, well kept hotel too. Comfortable beds. Safe feeling location. Easy and right off the freeway. Thank you guys!!

I am a very demanding, picky traveler. And I go into each hotel ready to do battle to get all of my wants and needs met. This hotel with no different. I walked in, gave my list of demands, and to my very surprise, they accommodated me on every single item I had on my checklist. These people bent over backwards to make sure I was happy and satisfied. Any time I am in Ames I will insist that my company book me at this hotel. It was safe, secure, clean, friendly, welcoming and everything else I could have asked for. They greeted me and treated me like an old friend. And now we are.

You will not find a more kind and considerate staff, especially the manager/owner. They will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable and comfortable. I was there for many weeks while on the job. The pool and giant hot tub are first class! You will not be disappointed!

We were traveling and just passing through didn't get there til late at night and the staff were so friendly! Very clean rooms, good breakfast options. The pool wasn't suppose to open til 9am but one of the staff noticed my kids begging to swim at 730 am and he opened the pool early for them overall great experience!

I traveled here with my family and must say it is an amazing hotel. The staff are extremely nice. The service is great and the location is amazing. The food in the area is family friendly(budget friendly) and taste awesome. If traveling with kids this hotel will make you feel safe and reassured staying here. The beds are comfortable the rooms are clean. They has an amazing pancake house next to them. The Hot tub is so relaxing and I just love the pool. They have a laundry room in the hotel. Their free breakfast has the most amazing waffles as well. I would recommend this hotel especially if you are traveling with your family.

My husband and I recently stayed here for a couple of nights. The room was spacious and clean. It was a very quiet stay, which we greatly appreciated! The hot tub was very nice! The pool was also nice. The owner/front desk man was super friendly and very nice as well! He definitely cares about his hotel and it really shows! The breakfast was good as well!

Very nice hotel especially since the prices were so low. The breakfast was amazing biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and much more. The pool is open until midnight and is really nice. The staff was absolutely wonderful. Anything at all they you needed they were happy to help. Honestly this is probably in my top 5 of hotel stays. I’ve had some very bad experiences. Every time I come to Ames now this is where I will stay.

Extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. I was traveling with my 87 year old mom that uses a walker, and did not have an advance reservation when we stopped late in the evening. They were able to put us on the first floor in a handicapped accessible room. They offered to even help me with carrying in luggage or anything else we might need. I declined the help and went out to start unloading mom and our luggage & bags and suddenly help was there beside me offering to carry things so that I could help my mom. We got to the room and when we opened the door I had forgotten to request 2 beds. I was just going to not worry about it for the 1 night stay, but before we even got all of the way into the room the gentleman that was carrying our luggage quickly said he had another accessible room with 2 beds right around the corner and had a master key to let us in. We were taken to the new room and new key cards were brought to us without my having to return to the front desk- they handled everything for us. The next morning same couple greeted us at checkout and again offered to help us. They even asked if we needed anything to eat even though it was after the normal breakfast timeframe. Loved this place and the staff were wonderful - the room was great and very clean. A truly handicap accessible room with a roll-in shower and lots of space to move around. Thank You So Much for an enjoyable stay!!! 😁

To give an idea of how clean this place is: the owner was cleaning the outside of a garbage can as we were checking out. And it was spotless. The staff was very friendly. They let us check in a little early (for a small fee). The rooms were very clean. The included breakfast was good. I didn't have any noise complaints. It's a nice place to stay and very affordable. My wife and I visited the pool after dinner and it was clean and no one else was in it. I would stay here again.

It is obvious as you drive into the parking lot that this 2 story hotel is an aging property, and the absence of an elevator scores the point emphatically. The staff is friendly and the indoor pool and hot tub a well maintained treat; we especially appreciate the fact that the mini frig had a freezer unit for our dry ice. Still, there are negatives. Many will be inconvenienced by the lack of USB ports, and the few electrical outlets in the room are not well positioned (nothing, for example, at bedside). The AC/heat unit was clunky in the extreme, emitting a high pitched humming noise that we could only defeat by turning the unit off and letting heat bleed out of the room during the night. Breakfast was minimal in the extreme, even by mid-range standards. In sum, although $86 is not much for a hotel room these days, it's not good value if you can't get a decent night's sleep.

Quick overnight getaway, King room great size and comfortable. Hot tub was great and large. Breakfast could have been better but was basic Americ inn. Overall will stay again really good for the price

This place is incredibly clean and very up to date. The rates are amazing for what you get in given to you. The owner and his wife are super amazing and they are very proud of what they have done here. The rooms are clean and nicely done. The pool and hot tub are the best I've seen in a very long time, and especially for this time of year! Breakfast is very nice. Over all this place has a very "homey feel", and I will only stay here when I am in Ames, Iowa.

This place was in a great location. The owner was very nice. They have an indoor pool and indoor hot tub with working jets. The price was great for my stay. Anything I needed they provided for me. The set up is a cabin type style. They even have a pool table. Fantastic place to stay. I will definitely be back.

Great Hotel!!!! One of my favorite!!! family- friendly places to go stay! Good customer service and rooms are great! Also the jacuzzi room is so amazing!!! And relaxing and best part!? AFFORDABLE!!! Great location too! Located RIGHT next to a beautiful pancake restaurant!!!! Called: Pancake House!!!! This Hotel also offers public indoor swim, if you ONLY go there to swim..? THAT'S OKAY!!!!! A couple bucks and the kids can then swim and enjoy an outing with you! Or couples can make it a day date! Either way, Go enjoy it!

AmericInn is the only hotel that I know of that still does 'open swim', meaning they allow you to pay four dollars and swim in the pool and/or relax in the hot tub. We booked a standard King room, and checked in extremely fast, with very friendly staff. The staff not only made us feel like we were equals, but they also explained everything with a smile on their face, and never once made us feel out of place if we had a question, or concern. The room was out OUTSTANDING!! It had more than enough open space than we needed, and it felt moreso like a 'home away from home' , rather than a hotel. We nestled in right away without any issues. The staff greeted us at breakfast, and ensured our stay was at least up to expectation, if not better. At the last minute before checkout, we had decided to book the room for a second night, and upon calling down and asking the front desk if that was okay with them, they seemed very thrilled and excited to have us for another night. They matched the price we found on the third party booking site, and checked us out for another night in no time! :) The management that AmericInn is now under is very impressive, personable, and caring. Definitely is something that more places need to take note of. Our living situation is unfortunate, as we are between places to live and have our service animals with us, and when asked what brought us to Ames, we told the management the truth. Instead of being judged, and getting weird vibes like we usually do, this management talked to us on a personal level, about our personal lives, showing extreme worry/care/sympathy for the trials and tribulations that life is throwing at us right now. They expressed that we are always welcome there, and that really meant a lot to us. Thank you for the wonderful stay, the reasonable prices, and the beautiful hospitality, AmericInn. Will definitely be back soon!!

A wonderful stay! Pool and hot tub were excellent, the hotel was very clean and up to date, the staff very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet had everything you'd expect. All at an extremely reasonable price, for the room and for the pet friendly charge. Already planning to book here for the next time we are in town!

The staff was very friendly and everything was clean. They have a very nice room with a pool and big hot tub. The pool room also had a pool table. We ate breakfast close to 9am when it's supposed to be done and they still had stuff stocked, way better than most hotels that only have fruit loops for breakfast. Great price for the quality of hotel, I would definitely recommend staying here again.

The hospitality is excellent! We love the large hot tub in the atrium so clean and the perfect way to relax after a long day.. No other hotel has a hot tub like the AmericInn. The beds are comfortable and the room very clean. We love the free breakfast it is well stocked and the staff keep it clean and fresh. This is our favorite place to stay when visiting Ames!

My daughter and I recently stayed at the AmericInn in Ames. The hotel was clean and well-maintained. In addition, we enjoyed the pool and gigantic hot tub. Our favorite amenity was the outdoor fire pit! The reason we will use this hotel every time we return to the Ames area is because of the helpful, friendly staff. We were greeted so kindly, even though we arrived at nearly 11pm. The owner even went out of his way to show us around the hotel a bit. When he realized my daughter was on crutches, he offered to change our room to the first floor and even bring breakfast to our room! Thank you for going out of your way to make us feel so welcome!

Every employee we talked to at the front desk was nice at all times of day and night; plus our room was very clean and welcoming unlike a lot of other hotels in the area. The breakfast was exceptionally good. They let us extend our stay with no problems, and price matched our first nights stay! I was seriously impressed. They accommodated us and our service animals like we ALL were guests in their home. Would recommend 100x times over any other hotel in Ames great price. Great people. Great hospitality. Great stay!!

Room was clean. Breakfast was meh. However for the price $58 a night this is 5 stars in my view. Friendly staff.

Rooms were nice and big. Clean. I thought this must be a fairly new hotel but heard it was actually an older property. Very well maintained. Pool & pool area are nice too. Large hot tub. Friendly staff.

AmericInn hotels were usually enjoyable to stay in at several different locations. However this experience was extremely disappointing. First the TV cable was broken and taped to the back of the TV and cable did not work. They brought us a whole new TV that was dusty and gross and way smaller. We had to hook up the TV on our own. We then filled up the hot tub after I wiped it out. Very gross. Finally sat in to relax and the jets didn't work. Come to find out they knew prior to us checking in the part for that tub was on order. So they knew it was broken and still booked us in there at full price. The carpet was ripped and gross. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere because the only compensation offered was a $20 discount. Front desk receptionist was friendly and understanding but over all unimpressed and would not go back to this location.
