This stainless steel sculpture is well-known throughout Lausanne and is the work of the internationally-recognised artist Ángel Duarte. It was a gift from Rotary International to the Town of Lausanne on the occasion of its worldwide meeting. The piece was originally placed in the "Comptoir Suisse" Gardens in Beaulieu, before being transferred to the Osche pier in Ouchy. "Ouverture au Monde" consists of 6 semi-hyperboloids, constructed with the help of 36 diamond-shaped panels.

Great place to sit down and enjoy next to the lake. Can get crowded on a sunny day!

Beautiful pier and area of Lausanne. The lake front walk is majestic. Food, beverage, cafes, restaurants, ice creams & mini marts and smaller supermarkets all within a close walk to here. You can also go across to the French side by boats, but of course I assume you would be required to carry your passports for possible checks, so we didn’t cross over. The metro connects you directly from here on a very short ride to the main Lausanne train station and runs approx every 5 mins. The pier had a small marina for rental boats but it was closed on the day we visited. I would say one of the best lakes I have visited around in Switzerland. Recommended…!

Made time to admire the Ouverture au monde (Opening to the World) sculpture and Éole (Aeolus) wind vane during a stroll along the pier of the port of Ouchy in mid-April 2023. Good spot to enjoy the lake, sunrise and sunset.

The walk there from the station was fine as it’s going downhill. The way back was quite tough hence. But the lakeside was great. Easy to walk and has a few eatery.
