The new building is not designed for anyone with reduced mobility or with a pram. The elevators are poorly indicated and behind doors (photo below), the automatic doors at the entrance are impractical (open toward you and no button when you exit), access to the lockers and handicap bathroom has a heavy door, and the baby change area is so small that you can’t bring a pram in. Shameful for a modern building.

This museum for design and contemporary art was previously located in a small building with an endless number of floors in La Cité, facing the cathedral. It has now lost its soul. Like its neighbors on Platform 10, the main exhibition relates to trains, railway stations, railroads and passengers and their luggage. This section is really interesting and well curated. The contemporary and applied art section that you will find if you search deep into one of the corners of the first floor is a nothingburger although you might possibly enjoy an Icelander walking in his local river while speaking his patois... Now recently in the spring of 2023 there are two most interesting exhibits, one features design in Beirut, Lebanon over time till today and the other is a dialogue between an octopus and and a citrus press, a kind of interesting title. Needless to say, go visit the design museum before these exhibitions are over!

Very fun curation. It's not only brilliantly done, the pieces are often more interactive than the classical do not touch museum tradition. Saw the Space is a Place curation, and loved how thoughtful and playful it was. Bonus points for the unexpected videos on the building in the evening!

Visually interesting exhibition of chairs in all their many guises. Beautifully presented in the new MUDAC building, just a stone’s throw from Lausanne station. Very airy and spacious entrance hall. Getting tickets was easy (11.00 a.m.), weekday. The reception by the steward at the top of the stairs was non existent and no instructions, help or guidance were offered or provided. Once in the upper gallery, the exhibits were well laid out and the exhibition brochure gave useful descriptions each chair. However, there was a constant, irritating whistling of a tune which repeated, on a loop, every minute. This was akin to torture. Escaping this dreadful noise, we progressed to the next room - to be greeted by incessant jungle drumming - again on a loop. This was a major distraction from the interesting exhibits. Wanting to get away from this noise, we scratched our heads as to where to go next. No instructions! Consulting a steward, whose only task it seemed was to stop people touching the exhibits, we were grudgingly told to exit the room through a low black square in the far wall. Crouching down to do this, we entered a dark room, with chairs suspended in the air occasionally lit up by spotlights. Fortunately, the music was soothing in there - a wonderful balm to the earlier cacophony. However, again no instructions on how to exit this space. We eventually spied some scrawled writing on the floor by a curtain, which led us through a space age style corridor, where a series of portholes showed a kaleidoscope of glittering chairs suspended in space. By then, we were ready to leave the exhibition as quickly as possible and go and have lunch. The presenters have tried too hard with the result that the quirky, banale sound accompaniment (the stupid « A Chair and You » corridor as case in point) is a major distraction. But the clever and inventive exhibits probably make it worth a visit. Probably best to take ear plugs!

Modern art museum close to the train station. Even if there are no exhibitions that you like, stopping by the coffee shop.andmlibrary might be worth your visit.

Main attraction, as a group of 3 outstanding museums, named PLATEFORME 10. Not to be missed for the fantastic architecture of the buildings and their very interesting and frequently renewed content. The visit of only the world class Musée de la Photographie takes around 2 hours, as the MUDAC, slightly smaller, will distract the whole family for another hour. After a needed pause, you should also take the time to visit the MCBA or art museum, for its outstanding permanent collection and trendy exhibitions.

Very nice museum space. You can buy tickets either for 1 or all 3 museums.

It was amazing to see Chair exposition. The story of the museum is also an interesting one. It used to be a part of the central station where they stored trains. So lovely that they redid a whole complex of museums. Remember, school visits are for free. It's a great thing they appreciate education and enable it for everyone.

It's a nice place to spend your weekend, if you're not a fan of going out of the city.

Very interesting and inspiring for creative arts. In each of the rooms, there is something eye catching and makes you think. In a lot that I saw in Lausanne, this place was quite fulfilling and stays with me even though I am not an artist nor in a profession reading remotely to art.

Contemporary art, there you can see also an iPad 2. Moreover, if you buy a ticket it is worth to visit two more museums in Lausanne with the same price of 20 CHF

Only $5 with a student card and just big enough to spend an hour or so depending on your speed (and how hot it is outside). Loved the current exhibit on firearms and am thoroughly satisfied with the experience!

What a great little museum. I came for a couple of hours and I have stayed for four. At the time there was a major exhibition about a city in India, where its citizens lived out of making glass artifacts. Both this and the permanent collection was mesmerizing and enlightening. It's opposite to the Cathedral. Make sure you visit.

Small museum in the center of Lausanne. Good spot to spend couple of hours and educate yourself. Nicely placed exhibitions on three levels of the building makes you think, that it is a huge place but it is not. The first day of the new exhibition can be overcrowded.

We (two adults and a 18 months old kid) went at Mudac's current exhibition (and the last in this building) for our first visit of the museum. We enjoyed a lot the compact size of the museum (half an hour was enough for a quick tour) and the creativity in organization of exhibition. The building itself is extremely interesting but does not really match the museum. The Historical museum located next door would be here more appropriate. Who knows, maybe it will happen after Mudac's relocation towards the railway station?
