Do not choose this Etablissement if you risk to lose a family member through death. You are not allowed in this cases to postpone your Exams. Just tell them you have a sore throat and you can. Stupid rule, but stupid reality. So you will, of course, not learn as well to be a emphatic leader, as this Etablissement has no emphatic "soul" at all.

I did my bachelor and master here. Excellent education. I worked for 2 years in industry and now doing a PhD. The university is awesome, a lot of activities to do. Great location with restaurants and shops. Super place to study and work.

EPFL is one of the two federal technical schools (university) in Switzerland. Like the ETH in Zurich, it has three missions: education of students, scientific research and technology transfer. EPFL is located near Lausanne on the shores of the Lake Geneva. It has a campus of more than 10,000 people. The school stimulates collaboration between students, professors, researchers and entrepreneurs. These daily interactions give rise to new and work in science, technology and architecture. EPFL is widely regarded as a world leading university. The QS World University Rankings ranks EPFL 12th in the world across all fields in their 2017/2018 ranking, whilst Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranks EPFL as the world's 11th best school for Engineering and Technology

One if the top Swiss research and technology institutes and ranks among the best in the world (its Zürich sister is even better ranked). Very strong innovation output. Worth a visit for its Learning Center (sponsored by Rolex) and view of lake Geneva l and alps.

One of the two federal technology institutes in Switzerland and counted among best technology institutes of the world (top 3 in EU and usually among top 15 in the whole world). In terms of facilities, it is no less than other leading public sector universities, including at campus Arcade center, hotels, hostels, medical clinics and very easy access to public transport (metro and buses). In terms of location, it is situated just few minutes of walk from Lake Geneva and with fantastic view of the French mountain (Rhône-Alpes).

Pubs close at 2am, whereas clubs are open longer. However, an entrance fee of 10-25 CHF is common in the clubs. The typical beer price is around 7 CHF for 0.5l. For some strange reason it is very common to serve small glasses of 0.25l, so be aware of this if you are thirsty. The pubnights arranged by Xchange normally provide a discount. On Fridays and Saturdays it is possible to take the so-called pyjama buses back home. These leave from Lausanne-Flon to all kinds of areas in the surroundings of Lausanne, between 01h15 and 3h45. This costs only additional 2 CHF to a normal ticket.

An EXCELLENT place to study. Superior teaching & learning facilities. However Lausanne is not a cosy city to live: the French culture is dominant, as international it is very difficult to really enjoy it if you are not French speaking. Those French speaking guys assume that everyone ON THIS PLANET should speak French. Also the student residence service was way under expectation...lots of homeless students

It looks nice on pictures but is quiet run down and not taken care of. It looks like there was no gardening for years

Amazing university! Amazing campus right on the shores of the lake of geneva, outstanding research facilities, and very interesting and diverse master level education! (However the 1 bachelor year is pretty harsh since only 35% of the students succeed!)
