My family and I have been going to Javier’s for over 20 years. It has been such a nostalgic place. It’s never tasted like authentic Mexican food but was always fresh and good. There are many options for Mexican food in Ogden but I convinced my boyfriend to go to Javier’s tonight. Let’s just say he may never speak to me again. Our food tasted like it was straight out of a can or a premade frozen meal. There is no way our margaritas had alcohol in them, and the fried ice cream wasn’t fried. (Another review did mention catching them serving him virgin margaritas) While we were eating they started cleaning the restaurant hours before closing. The smell of strong disinfectant was so overpowering while we were trying to eat. It was very off putting. What’s most offensive about all of this is the PRICE!!! $60 for enchiladas, nachos with three ingredients, two mock tails and ONE scoop of ice cream which was $9.00. One more time $9.00 for ONE SCOOP of ice cream. They charge $2.99 for a side of sour cream. The helping of sour cream is large but it’s so unnecessary and feels like an excuse to charge too much. There is no pride in the food or service that they deliver. Goodbye Javier’s.

I hate to be the person to do a bad review…. But this place is awful. I was so excited to try some Mexican food in Utah (I just moved to Ogden from Georgia) and I was SO disappointed here. The salsa tastes like Mariana sauce. The rice is hard and uncooked, and the food was disgusting. I literally puked in the parking lot leaving the establishment. Don’t go here. I hope to find some real Mexican food soon!

Had Onion Pepper Beef. It was good and I recommend it. Serving of referitos and rice was beyond skimpy and rice was not Mexican Rice but plain old white rice. La Crema was fine but guacamole and pico de gallio were both dry on top indicating they had set out a long time. I also had a lime Margarita. Size was about 12 oz per photo. When I tasted it I could find no tequila. When I finally got the waitress back she informed me my drink had no alcohol ( they serve both with and without) and said she would remake it. When I got the drink back made "with" I still could not taste any tequila, so I asked for a shot to bring it up. Waitress just disappeared and didn't come back. When after about 15 minutes I hailed her she said she could not serve e a shot until I finished the Margarita. In then asked if she could take the drink back and add a shot to it at my expense. She said 'no'. as the drink was made with one of these Kool Aid like mixes that come in a gallon bottle. (When I got home I made me a good Margarita) My experience was an ordeal. seats are too low and table in booth came to my chest. (I am 5' 8") and distance between seat back and table top is too narrow. I asked for a manager but she couldn't understand. To top it all off the waitress could not understand English and could rarely be found . The whole experience was an Ordeal and I won't be going back. Take your business where it is appreciated. If I could give NO stars, I would.

Not going to lie, I had high hopes for this place. 4.2 Stars should be an indication of really good food however the rating as well as the name Javier’s “Authentic Mexican Food” are just really off point. I’ve lived in the Southern states most of my life and have experienced real authentic Mexican foods which I truly do love and enjoy. This place serves what tastes like canned chicken in their dishes as well as clearly canned beans, horchata with no cinnamon? (Not the horchata!!), salsa that tastes like a pizza sauce , and to top it all off I have NEVER been to an authentic Mexican restaurant that didn’t have queso dip! We asked for queso dip which at first they didn’t bring out. Asked again and they brought a cup of SHREDDED cheese. I asked if they had any queso dip to which they said no. Oh and don’t let me forget. A steak taco that was included came out, I shoveled out the excessive lettuce they put in it and saw a weird textured meat tried a bite an no joke it was brisket! I can’t make this up. If it were possible to leave a -3 star review I 100% would. I am highly disappointed. Perhaps the standard for Mexican food in this area just isn’t very high. Hopefully I can find a place that meets its rating in quality because Javier’s definitely did not!

Food was fresh, served hot and fast. Started with their chips and salsa. Love the Little kick off heat in the salsa. We had the pepe chicken and the Sr Ron chimichanga.

This place has went down hill.... THE COOK DOESN'T WEAR GLOVES!! as I was leaving the cook was in the back eating then going back to making food without washing hands. The salsa tastes like marinara sauce. The rice was hard and not cooked all the way. Upon being seated the waitress threw down the menus on the table and was very rude. This place has went so far down hill I wouldn't recommend this place again to anyone. Very unsanitary in the kitchen where food is being made. Don't believe me check it out yourself.

Authentic Mexican Food. Always delicious. Great prices. Very friendly and great atmosphere. Very comfortable. But mostly...The Food!!! This restaurant is Our entire family s favorite place to eat. The one in Harrisville and the one on Harrison Blvd are my favorites.

We go to this location at least once a week and today was the worst experience by far! And to make it worse Javier, the owner was there! We sat there for 15 minutes without getting drinks, we had to get our own drink at the back drink fountain. The waiter came to us and said I’m busy! Walked off and never came back. An elderly couple was sitting behind us and they didn’t have their order taken and got there before us. We went to leave and was told that our normal order was coming out, they refused to let us speak to Javier. We sat back down waiting another 15 minutes with no food. The elderly couple got up and left, we were right behind them. When the waitress saw us leaving she just said, thank you! I’m not sure we will go back!!!! Terrible terrible service. What upset us the most was the elderly couple not getting their food and having to walk out!!!

First time review... I was impressed with this Mexican restaurant. From the outside, one cannot judge the interior decore. It has a very quaint interior... will decorated. The FOOD is tasty and the plenty. There's an endless menu from which to choose. For those salsa snobs, you will find the salsa sabrosa y picosa. Enjoy!!

I had the chili relleno and it was amazing. My husband had a mixed plate with different food and he really liked his too. He also had a margarita too!

I keep seeing reviews that food and service is getting worse. I’ve been there to witness the service (meaning the wait time), takes a long time. However, once you’re sat, the service is good. The food on the other hand, still tastes good, as it always has. I haven’t noticed a big drop in food quality/taste as others have noticed.

So, we used to go here regularly, lately though they have issues carrying beer, the draft beer also questionable and this is shocking for a Mexican place, especially one that has it's own beer label. But to fail so spectacularly on Cinco de Mayo of all days. as nice as Mr. Javier himself is this is this is so far the worst place I have ever dined at in Ogden, and that's saying a lot. ----summary: lost reservations, short staff, rude waiters, mediocre product for premium pricing, poorly managed in general. How they are still in business, let alone receiving accolades for their food is beyond me. I hate to say, but taco bell would have been better. Want good Mexican food with good service? go to Maria's. plus they have better parking.

I really enjoy this place. I have been here multiple times and visited almost all of the locations the last few weeks due to the deliciousness and it fitting my diet. Highly recommend!

Always a nice time. Solid food. Good service. Nice decor. We were on a schedule for dinner and got 4 people in and out in less than 45 minutes without having to demand attention. Nice people always. Taco salad is HUUUUUUUUUGE!

That was by far the worst food I’ve ever had from a restaurant.. they advertise all sorts of beer on tap but don’t actually have a single one on tap. the food is so bland you could’ve convinced me it was dog food from a can. We ordered 3 chicken tacos and they sent them out smothered in some bland sauce that tasted terrible and left the taco shell soggy. The Chicken tasted like it had been sitting out cooking all day, super dry and no taste. chili verde was very very bad. I was able to choke down one bite of both before paying my bill and leaving. the food came out super fast, so I’d imagine they had them sitting out pre cooked all day.. we are all feeling sick about 30 minutes after eating…

Ordered guacamole, they brought us crushed avocado, and then the waitress had the audacity to argue with me about what ingredients are included in guacamole. The beef in our food was dry and tasteless for me, and my wife experienced salty beef in hers. Their soda prices are outrageous. But the experience as a whole was just not impressive. We will not be planning on giving this establishment a second chance, it used to be, in the old days that the customer was always right, apparently that idea is old fashioned.

We are at the location on south Harrison Blvd. We waited for about 15 minutes before anyone came and asked us what we wanted to drink and to order, and we had to flag them down to get service. To top it all off, they helped a different party that came after us. The couple came in about 10 minutes after we did, and they had ordered and had drinks before we had even seen a waiter. They never came by to see if everything was well with our meal. We had to go and retrieve our bill to pay. Overall the service not the best at all. I'm not sure I would come to this restaurant again.

Restaurant was dark and dirty. Portions were small and prices high. We were even charged extra for the meat in the world's smallest chimichanga. We left with both our wallets and stomachs empty... Service was slow. Even had to get up once to refill our own $4.00 drink. Would not recommend.

I love Javier's! It's been my favorite Mexican food restaurant for years and has been my very favorite restaurant. All of their food is high quality and very very good.

Hate to complain but insanely overpriced for the smallest plate. The extras killed my bill.. side of sour cream which I didn’t get until half way through dinner 2.99. One coke no refills he never came bye 3.99 empty through whole dinner. 2 Al-carte shredded beef enchiladas 6.99 plus 1.99 for beef and 4.99 for very small side of beans and rice.. I totally understand the increase in prices this was outrageous.. I won’t be going there again.. ever

This was a pretty good Mexican restaurant with good traditional dishes. I'm rating a 4 because it wasn't exceptional, but I'm sure most people would be well pleased. Service was great. I think the family cares very much about the overall experience and their customers

The service was friendly and fast. Food was delicious and they can make a great margarita! It's a favorite for my family!

Chimichanga was served cold with cold chili Verde on top. After I complained they took it in back and microwaved it. Was then served hot lettuce on the side of a microwaved mush pile. Terrible food. Also the tomatos were rotten\bad

Not authentic at all - this is terrible! We can make it better at home. Coming from places near the border with REAL Mexican food. I do not recommend this place. Find a different place.

Love this place. They have some of the best food! Always fresh and seasoned just right. The coke is amazing too. Tastes so much better than other fountain drinks. The fried ice cream is next level too!

The best Mexican food in town! I brought a group of over 29 there tonight so we could all enjoy a fabulous dinner. Javier's never disappoints. 🙂

Staff was friendly but I was disappointed in the food I ordered. I ordered a chili Verde burrito and it was pretty much a tortilla filled with shredded lettuce you would buy from Walmart in a bag covered in chili Verde sauce. I’ve had plenty chili Verde burritos and never once has there been lettuce inside of it and pretty much only lettuce.

We sat down and a server didn’t come over to take our order or get us drinks for 15-20 minutes. The service was horrible and the food was mediocre. The enchilada sauce tasted like gravy and was very thin. The guacamole was decent and the prices were way too high. Probably wouldn’t go back again.

The food was good and the place looked nice, but the waiter never checked on us once. I had to find someone to give me a refill on my drink after waiting 20 plus minutes. Mind you I am 8 months pregnant. He also took forever getting us our bill.

Food was overpriced even though it was delicious. Got charged extra for cheese and sour cream without telling me it would be extra. Paid $8 for those. All the meals look the same.
