Gorgeous hotel! Excellent service and the best views in the city , it's like staying in the postcard that everyone buys. Most friendly staff ever , always there to help. Would give 6 stars if possible!

Really good location. Our anniversary happened during our stay and we were left a bottle of bubbly for that. We may have been charged for it though, as there were some unexpected debits on our credit card that we don't understand. Not sure if someone else was quoting our room number for drinks? All less than 20 euros though. Room was a superior. Clean and nice but with a poor view onto a washing line across the alley. We had a lovely time in Porto, so that lifts the score to a four star.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and were extremely happy with everything. The location was perfect for beautiful views of the Douro River right outside the front lobby, and for absorbing the friendly relaxed ambiance of the setting. Our room was well appointed and we enjoyed the excellent variety of fresh tasty food at breakfast. What really stands out in retrospect was all the staff we met. The front desk, the restaurant staff, and the housekeeping staff were all very positive and helpful. They all work together to give a comfortable, friendly, and very helpful feeling. They want your stay to be great and it shows! We would go back for sure!

For a 5 star hotel, I expected a 5 star coffee. I must say it was quite a disappointment. I asked for 2 galão and got 2 meia-de-Leite that tasted awful. At €8 for 2 coffees, I expect a better coffee. Location was nice, the service was not 5 stars either.

The location was amazing. Right on the water. Easily accessible to walk everywhere. The lounge areas around reception were lovely. The breakfast area and restaurant/bar had a lovely setting. The room was a decent size, bathroom was perfect and a good hot powerful shower. The service by all personnel was top class. They were very professional, helpful and thorough. The room was cleaned well every day and towels refreshed etc. Slippers laid out and a chocolate on the bed which was a nice touch. We were on the first floor... it was very noisy. Two nights it was just general people walking around which you can't really change but on the Saturday night it was really loud with music and lots of people gathering near our room which meant it was hard to sleep. Also there was hoovering going on late one of the nights. After 9.30/10pm. The breakfast had a decent range of food. We ordered an omelet one morning, it took about 15 minutes to come and when it did it was inedible. So the second morning I ordered eggs benedict and that was nice. There were lovely fruits and nice drinks, even bubbles etc. We'd also mentioned before arriving that we were there for our mini-moon after our wedding in the Algarve but this wasn't noted or mentioned which was a shame. Taxis can't come right to the entrance of the hotel but this wasn't an issue for us but just something to note for others.

Extremely poor service. The front desk actually lied to us. We had a guest with mobility issues and needed assistance. The personnel at this hotel offered NO assistance and in fact lied to us as to how to get assistance. They wanted nothing to do with helping us, only to get rid of anyone that needs or requires any assistance from them. They offer no parking options and they also have NO option to drop off or pickup a guest with mobility issues. They will only lie to you and tell you to press a button at the end of the street. When you do that, they tell you to contact the hotel again. This was the most stressful hotel visit I have ever stayed at. I will no longer stay at ANY Pestana property and will advise my family, friends and all my coworkers the same. They do not appreciate the business you give them. They will lie to you as they smile at you.

Best location, very good service, comfortable beds and a very good breakfast, I would recommend the Benedict eggs and the natural yogurt with honey right off a honey pane. Also the salmon and the pastries. Not all rooms have River views which is worth the extra price.

A very good hotel in Porto from the Pestana group, down the Douro river, and quite newly renovated. Rooms are efficient (not too big but efficient), a pretty high attention there details and service to clients has been there. Warm and chill atmosphere. Good breakfast quality.

Where do I even start on this review? The entire experience of this hotel, from staff to location to the room and food, is FANTASTIC. It takes a lot to impress me and generally, my reviews are 4-5 stars but also detailed in the things other consumers may not like. I can honestly say there’s not one single thing I would change about Vintage. The Pestana Group could teach other hotels a lot. Enjoy your stay here-you will not regret it and I guarantee you will return.

This was the trip of a lifetime for me and my daughter. It was our first experience in Porto, and would rebook this charming vintage hotel in a heartbeat! Both our travel agent and a friend recommended Pestana Vintage and it did not disappoint. Everyone on the staff excelled in customer satisfaction, especially Francisca. Patricia Hess Krista rawford

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at the Pestana Vintage. Our room was lovely and comfortable. The views across the river were stunning - I don't know if I've ever had a more beautiful view from a hotel room. The breakfast was delicious. All in all it was an excellent stay.

Spent a memorable birthday here. Everything about our stay was perfect; a birthday bottle of bubbles and cake in the room on arrival (nice touch), delicious breakfasts to suit all palates, ideal location for exploring Porto and Gaia, friendly and attentive staff. I could go on. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, room is comfortable and quiet, the staff are exceptional always asking how your stay is and if they can make it better. Bruno the manager is a true professional , really nice touch inviting guests to meet him for a pre dinner drink while your staying there , highly recommend this hotel

We had lovely 4 days at this beautiful hotel. The hotel manager was very kind because with my husband we were celebrated our 10th anniversary, with a bottle of great champagne and chocolates. At the reception desk ladies were helpful with offering nice restaurants. At the breakfast, we had a wild range of food, local and international as well, Portuguese wines, cheese were from locals. The city is adorable, the weather was sunny, but chilly in January. We had great time there, definitely recommend!

This is a hotel that has only positive points for it's location. Rooms are okay. Breakfast is dreadful considering it is a 5 star property. Service is also terrible. There is no way to reach the property front by can unless in taxi or hired transportation and there is no transfer provided by the hotel to leave the ribeira area with luggage. If not for the location I would never consider coming back again.

One thing I most love is when a location/company is a perfect match to what you’ll receive. The pictures are exactly what you get. Beautiful hotel rooms (the only thing id say is the lighting is dim in the rooms), nice lobby, friendly staff, right by the river, right by Luis Bridge. Location wise, it’s perfect for what you prefer to be next to. If that is restaurants and downtown area you’ll have to walk about 10-15min up the hill.

The location is one of the best in the whole city. But the service at the bar was totally miserable. We waited 30 minutes for our two small overwhelming overpriced beers (they charged in total more than 8€ for 2dl). There is only one toilet for all hotel and bar guests. After we paid we waited another 10 minutes for our charge at the table. After I went to the bar to get my money the waiter was very unfriendly and incompetent. The place looks amazing but the I will never go there in my life…

The location is fabulous and the lovely river view room was ready to enter by 3pm. Earlier would have been better as we were dropped off at 10:00 by Riviera tours. The reception, bar and welcoming staff were excellent. Unfortunately things went downhill. Breakfast next morning was only okay and coffee was difficult to obtain. One waitress actually said "everyone drinks too much". I think I managed to get only 2 cups each morning we stayed. We went out at 09.30, hung the make up room sign and returned at 2pm for a siesta but the room was not ready twice so no coffee replenished in the room. Even when the room was made up later they left coffee (1 cup each) on 1st day but no milk so I had to request it. I think the hotel is excellent but needs some training by a qualified housekeeper. A good 3/4 star hotel by UK standards.

We stayed for 4 nights and everyday there was something different to see. Everyday we asked for recommendations to the guest services and they always suggested really nice places to have dinner and the best points to get to know the city. Beautiful room, lovely colors. Although the city center is quite noisy, the room was quiet

Our stay was absolutely something that I would like to do again! The staff was so friendly and very accommodating. They helped us discover what Porto is all about. The room was so nice! The breakfast spread was amazing! Will definitely come back!

We stayed at the Pestana Vintage in Porto for four night recently and could not have had a better stay...from the friendly and helpful welcoming by Marcos (a bellman who had to bring our things down the hill) to the delicious breakfast spread (it's included). You can ask to sit outside with the view of the river. The ancient hotel building is a UNESCO site and the views are amazing. Deana helped book our driver for the Douro Valley wine tour, a highlight! Thank you Pestana Vintage Porto for a most enjoyable visit. Howard and Mary Ann Pickett

What a dreamy room/hotel. We were kindly upgraded to a better room with a view on the river and three large floor to ceiling windows that make the room bright and spacious. We only stayed one night but had a great experience with both the TV entertainment which kept us company while we enjoyed the room coziness/elegant design and night view, as well as breakfast in the morning which exceeded all expectations: varied and so delicious! The staff was all lovely and a special thanks to Eva from reception as well as the girl with the braids (sorry can't remember her name!) for their service.

Great hotel! Excellent service, rooms & location. The staff were amazing. This historic 16 century building has been transformed into a luxurious stay. The location - on the right bank of the Douro river at Ribiero square - is unbeatable. Please try this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

This historic property is right by the river we had a great view of the bridge . The service impeccable. Rooms are clean and comfortable. A little Noisy but that’s the price for being in the middle of action

We stayed in a river view room in this lovely hotel for 3 nights last week. The rooms are lovely with big windows that open to a beautiful view of the river. The service was excellent but Hugo , in particular, deserves a special mention. He was so warm and welcoming! The parking lot the hotel suggested to us was full when we arrived so we had to go back to move the car when the lot emptied out. Hugo called ahead to have them hold a space and then walked with us back to the lot to make sure it all worked out - really above and beyond!!!! I would have sworn he owned the hotel the way he treated us. If our business was in Porto we would try to hire him away !

Very nice breakfàst. Dinner menu limited. Room a nice size, hot water took a long time to get up to temperature, bathroom door a pain to get through. Staff very nice and polite. Hotel was a bit of a maze as we had to go up one floor then change lifts to get to the 4th. Overall a pleasant hotel situated next to the river and within walking distance of shops bars etc ,

A beautiful hotel in an idyllic location on the river. The service from the staff was impeccable and consistent from a welcoming reception to the restaurant and bar, from check in to check out. Their willingness to do what it takes to please their guests is genuine and highly professional. Whilst the staff are very forthcoming with recommendations for restaurants, I’d suggest you also do your own research so as to be sure it’s the experience you’re looking for.

Hotel was out of this world, from the staff to everything else, we had the best experience in Porto we could’ve think off. Everything was clean, done in time and everyone was super helpful and nice. We’d recommend everyone that wishes to stay here to pick this hotel, couldn’t ask for more. Best hotel in Porto. Thank you for this experience.

What an incredible stay. Staff was extremely kind and helpful, the included breakfast was delicious, and the room was beautiful and comfortable. Location is great too, right on the water and easy to get anywhere in the city. 10/10 experience!

On arrival you are greeted by very friendly staff who were very helpful and attentive throughout our stay. What an amazing building and our room surpassed our expectations as did the breakfast that had an amazing variety. Great location to see all the sites of Porto and surrounding area. Many thanks to all the staff for always being helpful and for their hard work in making a really memorable holiday.

Not a 5 star hotel. Went to 5 hotels and all of them helped us with our luggages but not this one. We meant to have a city view. Lol, more like other people's balconies' & cloths' view.. The breakfast is really good.

We stopped for a coffee and we discovered that, unbelievably for a 5-star hotel, the bathroom was unisex. Otherwise extremely nice and helpful staff and good coffee.

If you come to Porto and become a guest of the pestana vintage hotel, I’m sure you will enjoy it. After a small misunderstanding Maria from management solved everything in a snap. The hotel location is really good, is at the heart of the Porto area within small steps of restaurants and mayor wine tasting area.

  • 3/5 Chris M. 2 years ago on Google
Good hotel right next to the action on the river Douro. The windows have excellent sound proofing so if you don't want to listen to the music outside you can completely cut it off. Good breakfast as well. Downsides, the front of house staff could be much more helpful for a hotel that is supposed to be 5 star and no room service after 22:00. No information about hotel services in the room.

  • 4/5 Kevin M. 2 years ago on Google
Great scenic location; terrific/helpful/friendly staff - especially Marta in the bar - and the breakfast was very good. Only negative was that our 1st floor room was quite noisy from street/cafe just below.

Edit 2: yes to the pestana owner reply you may message me direct. Edit: has been almost a week and still no response to my emails nor to this review concerning this double charge on my Credit Card. Use caution with your credit card here. Hoping this gets resolved soon. This is a great place, great staff, awesome location. However we have an ongoing issue with two charges(one correct one incorrect) on our stay which has not been resolved yet. Emailed both the hotel and the company with no repose yet. I’m hoping the hotel will respond here to help speed up this resolution so I give the 5 star rating it deserves.

We booked a 3-night at Pestana Vintage Hotel in Porto for our anniversary in March 2022. Had a wonderful experience during our stay at the hotel. The hotel is modern vintage interior and we loved it. Wood panels, beautiful hardwood floors in the breakfast floor. Front desk staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel surprised us with a bottle of champagne in our room when we arrived. The room we stayed is small, bed is comfortable, loved the all glass bathroom, marble floor and modern hardware. Breakfast buffet-style offerings was bountiful and delicious. The hotel location is right at the heart of Ribeira area and convenient to everything along Duoro river. Thank you and great job Pestana Porto...

I stayed here last week with a friend for a short trip and I have to say that I was very impressed. The location is absolutely wonderful. The staff throughout the whole hotel is very helpful and service oriented. I can definitely recommend the breakfast. A varied selection of breakfast items and they make your eggs per order. The service in the restaurant was excellent. Truly five star worthy. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so wonderful.

Great hotel. Right along the river with many food options around. The service there is fabulous from start to finish. They treat you like royalty. They have American and Portuguese-style food. The hotel is hard for tour guides or car services to get to, but it is worth the view and experience.

My stay at Pestana was wonderful. They are very attentive. On my last night without even asking the bellboy walked me up the hill with my luggage to make sure I get into my uber. Also, breakfast in the morning was amazing. Please let me know the name of the coffee you use and if it's something I can buy in US or online. I have never had a more delicious cup of coffee anywhere! Thank you 😊

It is an amazing location right on the water front and with amazing views. There are great restaurants nearby and plenty of things to do in easy walking distance The rooms are spacious and have all the services you would want and the staff are excellent and were very helpful with advice on places to eat and trips to try. The down side were the pillows. They were so soft that it was impossible for me to sleep comfortably on them without feeling like they were trying to suffocate me. We asked for harder pillows and after the third attempt we got some slightly harder soft pillows. Normally a bad pillow is not the end of the world, but at a 5 star hotel this was just not good enough.

I stayed here with my wife for three nights on our honeymoon. The staff was professional and accommodating both during and after our stay. The location is excellent, right next to boat tours, the water taxi, trolley to Foz and many great restaurants. Despite being on a very busy square and walkway, our room was quiet and the view was unbeatable! Yes, you could probably get a cheaper room, or a better view from a more expensive hotel in Gaia, but Pestana Vintage Porto has the right balance of convenience, scenery, good service and price. After leaving Porto I discovered I had left a small item in our room; the staff found it and will be mailing it back to our home in the US. I cannot recommend this hotel, it’s staff and Porto in general enough! Oh and the coffee is fine; it may not be high end café quality, but it is better than many hotel breakfast coffees I have had in the past. You will not regret staying here and will have a great time in Porto!

upon arrival we were greeted nicely. we were early than the mentioned check in time and we requested a room change so we had to wait a bit. We wanted a room overlooking the port and river. We got what we asked for. the view from our room was amazing. Overall vibe of the area surrounding the hotel is great. We had a really nice stay. I had no bad experience during my stay so nothing to write about.

The hotel is beautiful! Exquisitely decorated and overlooking the river. We arrived the day of San Joao and had no idea the party was literally happening in front of our hotel. The staff warned us we wouldn't sleep at all and, Maria, the Manager, had no problem with us spending that night at a different hotel without charging us. They then gave us an even nicer room in the quietest area possible , but understand this isn't a quiet hotel due to it's location. Breakfast is also fantastic and all the staff are friendly and helpful.

Excellent hotel! Great views and amazing staff! Very friendly and were always available for anything. Breakfast is excellent too, nothing was missing. Not to mention the location too, right in the centre of town with unrivalled views, unbeatable.

I did so much research for the right hotel in Porto. And the Pestana Vintage was the best choice we’ve made. What an amazing hotel! The location is simply perfect, right on the river and close to all the restaurants, bars and shops….The staff is so professional and friendly…..They offered us port wine upon arrival…..The rooms were clean and the lobby very modern and cute. One of our favorite parts was the breakfast buffet! You must book this hote with the breakfast. We truly enjoyed it a lot.

The hotel had an excellent location The staff were very helpful & very polite. The breakfast which was served had an excellent variety everyday. The concierge & reception staff were very helpful & would help me with any enquiry. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay & I would confidently book the Pestana Vintage again.

Did not stay at this hotel, but ate one of the best hamburgers I have ever tasted ! Mushroom, spinach, cheese, excellent meat, brioche bun, oiled and with a very tasty sauce! A beer, some porto, water and was in paradise at this beautiful corner with a view of the bridge and water ! Spend over 2 hours just people and scene watching! What a wonderful memory !!

Nice hotel. Wonderfully located. Nice staff. Bit on the pricey side and no local parking (though I can’t blame them for that, being right on the river)

We loved our stay at the Pestana, the location is fantastic. The accommodations are very comfortable. The staff is wonderful, so friendly and knowledgeable. They even presented my husband with a piece of cake and glass of bubbly at breakfast on his bday!
