We didn't expect to get a seat at this restaurant since you need to book way ahead of time but we are so glad we decided to stop by on a whim because it was so much fun! A party didn't show up for their 9:30 PM reservation so we were able to take two of their seats. The atmosphere is very jovial, warm and caring. From the host to the waiters to the singers, I felt we were welcomed in as friends. This is definitely the place to get some good Fado music with dinner in Porto. This is the first restaurant I ever visited where the entertainment and the food perfectly matched: musicians are passionate and the food were very delicious. Do not skip the polvo (octopus) lagareiro; it's so soft, you can slice the tentacles with your fork! Just a note to future guests: If you visit, please read the room and act accordingly. The musicians perform in 10-15 minute increments, then go on a break so the diners can eat. Lights will dim and this is a sign that performers are about to go on and would like your attention. The other couple next to us talking out loud during the performances were the worst. The rest of the customers at this small restaurant definitely noticed them and it kind of ruined our experience towards the end of the night.

The music was absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a truly local Portuguese experience, this is the place. The octopus is the best I ever had and the service, very friendly and welcoming. Don’t forget to book in advance, if you want to catch a place here - although we were lucky to find a table on the spot. Our waiter spoke 6 languages and even knew some words in Romanian. Now he knows more. 🤭

One of the best Fado Houses you'll ever visit. Truly the best Porto and Portuguese experience with this restaurant, prepare yourself as you'll stay here for hours, there's no table rotation, just an experience of eating and listening. You'll enjoy 3 or more Fado singers in regular intervals where everything stops when the Fado starts. The food is great with lots of Portuguese classics from Cod to Octopus and Beef to Pork. It will not disappoint, trust me. Service is great, the waiter will talk to you, help you decide on your wine and food pairing as well as explaining the Fado itself, they are very helpful and nice people. This should be a must for any foreigner and for any local. (You should expect 40€-100€ per person)

If you want to enjoy Fado music in a small, private setting, then this is the place for you. The dinners are accompanied by music performance. The experience is tarnished a little by the performers walking table by table selling their CDs, which in the end makes the place look cheap (they can sell them to the ones that are interested at the exit), which at least by looking at the prices it is not. When it comes to food, it is average at best, it's not really good, but it's not that bad either. The price definetely does not correspond with the quality, on the other hand, you should keep in mind that you are not paying for the food, but mainly for the music performance and the experience that goes along with it. The staff was very friendly.

Exceptional food, Exceptional Fado!! This was the first place we had dinner in Porto and it was an unforgettable time. The music made us emotionally joyful and the food was incredible! We had the sole and could have licked the plate. The scallops were very good - do get them! The starters octopus was also good. I will come back to Porto for this place hands down. A MUST!!

No doubt a five star dining experience for us. The food, the wine selection, the service and the music, everything was perfect - loved the vegetable soup specifically and both waiters were super attentive and friendly. Best meal in Portugal and will definitely come back again!

Overall an excellent experience! The interior and atmosphere of the restaurant is old-fashioned and decorated with many cool pieces of art and antiques. All of the food was absolutely excellent, from the appetizers to the desserts. The fado experience is just a cherry on top as it is truly unique and special. Highly recommend, but make sure you are in store for a multi (3)+ hour dinner.

What a spectacle of a show! Great service and recommendations, fabulous food and everything paired with excellent wine! We even had some shots afterwards and we’re taught about the perfect flaming shot. Do take time to appreciate the musical accompaniment and book in advance.

We wanted to see a Fado show and our hotel booked this restaurant for us. The entrance gives no indication of the excellent atmosphere inside and we had a very enjoyable evening. Whilst the food was very good, we did have some problems with ingredients (allergies) and descriptions, which the restaurant acknowledged. The show itself (3 x 15 minute sessions) and we would recommend this restaurant, but you do need a reservation

There are likely more appealing choices available. The cheese board lacked freshness, had a subpar presentation, and was overly pricey for its quality. The glass of wine, while good, was also comparatively expensive. In summary, it's a fairly ordinary establishment, although the musicians and service were commendable.

Amazing small restaurant, and a must if visiting Porto. From the moment we checked in for our reservation and being seated on the VIP table, front and center of the stage, it was nothing short of a wonderful evening of Fado music and great cuisine. The service was Impeccable and the staff very friendly, knowledgeable, and provided great suggestions that were nothing short of delicious. The food was fresh, professionally cooked and presented. The Professional Fado singers, and a quartet of Portuguese guitarists and a cello made for an unforgettable night in Porto. Strongly recommend. 5⭐️s

Looks like nothing from the exterior but very attractive in side, lovely decor and comfortable Most of the food was great, tasty and large portions However the beef medalions came wrapped in bacon, without any mention of the pork inclusion on the menu, troubling when you are allergic to pork or for the other obvious reasons The Fado show which went on throughout the evening was interesting having never seen one before Very well worth a visit if you can get a reservation

From the moment we walked in I knew we were in for a treat. The staff were amazing and I had mixed up my booking but they still managed to fit us in. The food was the best I’d had in Portugal and the recommendations for wine were great. The best was the fado itself. There were 3 performers and I was so impatient with the music and the emotion of the songs. I would definitely return

A friend recommended O Fado and I’m so happy we went. I wanted a memorable experience to celebrate my birthday and the evening was fantastic. The Fado music was great! It was my fist real time listening to Fado. I called ahead for a reservation and they saved us a great table. Our server Al, and the whole server team looked after us, gave us options and suggestions and made us feel welcomed. We chose the set menu. The wines Al selected for us were excellent and the food was so good! I’m not usually a seafood fan, but even I loved the ceviche. You don’t have to choose pricey options for an evening at O Fado.

Unassuming location perfectly tucked away. All of the workers are multilingual and take pleasure in accommodating your linguistic needs. The cheese and meat board was delicious, it was nicely paired with a variety of 3 sauces. The green wine was a great addition to the meal. The salmon was perfection!

Great deco and ambiance. Excellent service and fado show. It makes you stop in time and enjoy the moment. Not touristy as I thought it was going to be. Nice food. The female singer was amazing!! I personally recommend the wine attached as photo.

We found this restaurant online and are absolutely glad we did! The food is excellent, choices are all appetising, the place is clean, feels authentic and warm. The service is very good and respectful of Fado singers and musicians (starters/fado/main course/fado/dessert/fado) as much as all clients. A big thank you to the staff as they were all very caring, including providing guidance as to which wine may be better associated with your plate, I have rarely seen such good staff and ambiance in a restaurant. A special thanks to Ricardo who was incredibly kind and made this evening memorable too. Prices may seem high when one is not used to those (starters around 4e/main 27e/dessert 8e) but this includes fado performances and the food is really fresh and good, it's all worth it. For wine/water/starter/main course/dessert, it was 50e per person. Please note the first Fado performance started after 9pm so if you book a table at 8pm, don't get impatient not seeing artists straight away :). If you want a suspended moment in time, don't think twice and go try it!

Such an amazing place and great dishes. Dinner was just great (veal, despite being medium rare, was very soft, tasty and just delicious!). Staff was very professional, engaging and caring during our whole dinner time. It was a great surprise to have the Fado performance during dinner. We loved the place, the food and the service.

Just a simple sentence, if you travel to Porto only to visit this restaurant that would be totally worth it! Perfect food (specially the veal), friendly atmosphere with very polite waiters, amazing live Portugees music. Don’t forget to book in advance! The restaurant is small and if you count on people to give up their seats, they don’t! They would be there to enjoy every single part of the live music and delicious foods until the midnight.

Great Fado singing and music and also great food. The octopus was the best I have ever had by a long shot and I have enjoyed it many other times. The pork was also excellent and even the salad was inspired. I was very impressed by the quality of the food. The servers was really friendly and attentive and the singing and music was great as well. The time just flew by and it was midnight before we even knew it.

The Restaurant is kinda small, but this may be the reason why its so comfy and familiar. Feels like home somehow. No options for Vegetarians! But if you eat fish as a Veggi, i recommend the Bacalhau a Fado. Its not too fishy and really delicious. My Bf had Tenderloins and found them also extremly good. Both plates were very plentiful. Also the Vinho Verde was so good. (Forgot the name). Please try the Mousse de limão, its like heaven. The staff was so kind, funny and helpful! Music-wise it was also extraordinary in my opinion. Especially the Fadista Patricia Costa had us almost crying (in a good way). 10/10.

I loved this place so much. I had never seen fado before, but it felt like stepping back in time. The staff is lovely and the food great. The portions so big you’ll struggle to finish them! I recommend booking.

This restaurant saved the night after some unsuccessful attempt to find a decent place in the area. It’s more of a €€€ category unlike what google is saying but the food is very delicious and the singers performance made the visit very memorable. The service is genuine and warm. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our evening here. It's an experience, with your meal and the service times to allow the Fado performances to be enjoyed without waiting staff going about their business. The food was very good, a varied menu, with very knowledgeable waiters who were super attentive without being annoying. Good selection of wines too. The Fado was haunting, really powerful vocals paired with guitar, providing a memorable backdrop to a wonderful evening. There were no CDs on sale as far as we saw and certainly no hard sell. It's a small, almost private dining type experience, hence booking is recommended. We walked up without one and were lucky that someone had cancelled only moments earlier. Restaurant opens 2030 with Fado starting around 2100ish. Not somewhere to go for a late meal as the fun will have been missed!

First of all, don't treat this place as a restaurant. It is not a restaurant, it's an entertainment establishment that happens to serve food. Do you want to enjoy a decent meal and a performance from local artists, and be treated like royalty in a tourist friendly setting? And you don't mind paying premium on your food to see the performance? Then you might enjoy this place. Do you want to explore and experience genuine Porto in a legitimate local restaurant with meals from local cuisine for a reasonable price? And do you want to avoid blatant tourist cash-grabs? Then you may not enjoy this place. I came in assuming from the positive reviews that the food would be worth the 30€ price tag for a main dish. Boy, was I wrong!

What a restaurant to end a day with. Amazing food. I had grilled Sol that really touched my soul. A good wine, port and finale with first time ever had a Pine Tart. To top all that a live music. A good evening indeed

We loved this place. We were lucky to get in on the back of a cancellation so would recommend booking! The atmosphere is wonderful, the food was great, the staff very friendly, attentive and helpful, and the fado was just what we were hoping for! Will definitely visit again.

Excellent experience in a very warm and musical setup. The Fado musicians were astonishing, and the place is very cozy, the waiters are very nice, and the food was really good - feels like homecooked. Fado here is a real professional experience, the musicians are there each and every evening. Reservation is a must as the capacity of the place isn't too big. Much recommended!

We had an amazing experience at O Fado. Our Airbnb host recommended us to come to O Fado for an authentic and non touristy experience, and it did not disappoint. We had a beautiful bottle of Vino Verde before dinner and the food was all amazing. Just wish they had more vegan options ;) which I can understand is not traditional Portuguese, but would be a nice option for travelers. Everyone I was with raves about their meals (steak and octopus) and I had sautéed veggies. The singers were passionate and extremely talented. I would absolutely recommend O Fado!

Run, do not walk, when in Porto! 10/10 experience from the kind staff helping us with a night before reservation, good sense of humor, attentiveness, and excellent recommendations throughout the night. The Fado performers were also fantastic. Be prepared for a long evening if you want to stay for the full lineup, but it’s absolutely worth it!
