So blessed to have so many beautiful local parks here in Pinellas county. I Was looking for a new spot to enjoy my delicious tamales and pastries. II was so happy I found this place. Veterans memorial Park It is a beautiful chunk of paradise. Preserved on the waterway almost to St Pete Beach. Breathtaking views of our intercostal waterways. There's a double boat ramp. As you enter the park. Today it was very busy at the boat ramp was completely full and I was there around 12:30. There is a charge for the boat ramp. People were fishing along the inner coastal. They have a hiking trails and a volleyball court. And many monuments to honor our veterans. This is a county park though so there's no charge for admission. The beautiful grass areas are a perfect place to catch some rays. While enjoying the beautiful intercoastal waterways of Pinellas county.

Update: new kayak and paddle board rental company on site. All the way in back. One of my favorite spots for launching kayaks, a boat, walking through nature and finding animals. There is a nice little beach with picnic benches. The park is large with many shelters and interesting places to explore.

I have spent many a day at this park growing up. I have not been here in over 7 years and wanted to see if anything has changed. I did notice some of the brush now covers the view of the water. I remember the bench swing having a clear shot of the water. I am grateful for this park, it has lots of space and still retains that old Florida look.

I've never been here before yesterday and I've been missing out! This is a beautiful, large park with beautiful trees, benches, pavilions, yet secluded. We watched a gorgeous sunset. There's a large boat ramp and kayak rentals. I'll be going back to take in this beautiful park again and again

The last time I visited this park was when I was a child, over 15 years ago. Coming back here now was like a storm of nostalgia hit me. Time passed but it’s still beautiful. There’s restrooms, sheltered picnic tables, the playground, and many fascinating beautiful animals. A kind gentleman was feeding the raccoons so I got to watch those babies eating. God bless him. Overall, this park is beautiful and a must visit if you’re in the area. Peaceful and breathtaking.

It was quiet. There were several areas to walk or to sit. Great place to drop a kayak for a ride!

Summary: Park does not open until 7am (gated) and BEWARE AGGRESSIVE MOSQUITOS! Canoe/kayak launch at southern end of park looks decent and there is a rinse station. Details: I'm always looking for a good place to put in my inflatable stand up paddleboard for an early morning/sunrise paddle. Alas, this park doesn't open until 7am - and there is a gate blocking entry. Fortunately, the boat ramp appears to always be open and no one was there at 6 am, so I launched from there and then paddled down to the "canoe launch" that is at the southern tip of the park. (Note: I believe there is a fee to launch from the boat ramp, but as it was 6 am on the 4th of July and I didn't plan on staying long, I took my chances and ignored the pay station. I don't know if I would recommend launching from there normally, because it appears to get quite busy later in the morning). I took out my paddleboard at the "canoe launch" since there is a nice rinse area and I wanted to explore that part of the park. As soon as I stepped onto land, I was immediately swarmed by a large cloud of very big, very aggressive mosquitos! I ended up literally RUNNING from the rinse station to the park entrance to retrieve my car - it's the only way I could keep ahead of the mosquito swarm. Every time I slowed down to catch my breath, dozens of mosquitos landed on me and started to bite! So beware the mosquitos, I haven't experienced anything like that before. When I went back with my car to retrieve my board, I had a head to toe bug suit on with a windbreaker and waterproof pants on - still was swarmed by mosquitos but didn't get bitten thankfully as I rinsed and loaded the board into my car. Had there not been so many mosquitos I would have explored more of the park - the pavilions and facilities look really nice - but since there were so many mosquitos I headed out early. May come back to explore more in the winter when the mosquitos are gone/less aggressive. If I come back to paddle again, I will probably launch/return to the boat launch and avoid setting foot in the park where all the mosquitos dominate. No bugs when you're out on the water!

I have lived in Pinellas County since 1988 and did not know about this amazing park. I've been to the National Cemetery as well as the VA but never the park. What a wonderful surprise. There is so much green space and nature that I didn't want to leave! Swings overlooking the water, picnic areas, grills, kayak and canoe area. This will be my new hideaway!!

Out on the end of the park. It quiet for a Saturday. The Tide is out and it's on its way back in, in front of us on the wall there is muscle shoals. There are dolphins swimming in the bay boats going left and right and pelicans diving for fish! Well-groomed park with lots of space. Benches all around by the waterside and plenty of places to fish. Even a swing down by the water to enjoy with your honey on a nice day.

I've been going here since I was a kid. Nice picnic areas (some near the water), playground, cool military tank, kayak ramp, wildlife, and a boat ramp. Beautiful park with a ton of shade for those hot Florida days!

This park is clean with good parking options. Plenty of picnic areas and small playgrounds. Not to much in the way of walking trails, but on a quiet day, the perimeter road serves as a walking path. Very scenic, you can sit on the sea wall and watch the boats go buy or the draw bridge in the distance. You can rent a kayak onsite. Be sure to check out the sundial.

It's a nice place to hang out. Would like to try paddle boarding or kayaking sometime as there is a rental place as well as a good launching point with a hose for cleaning off afterwards.

This is a nice historical place to come visit right here in Saint Petersburg, Florida next to the VA hospital. You can walk around and check out the tanks or head over to shelter five and get great ocean views.

Large accommodating boat ramp with several slips, but very popular so it can be busy. Rest rooms, water fountains, and water spikits, benches swings, shelters and picnic tables with grills are located throughout the park some on the water. There is also a small canoe launch and two play areas in the park one for older kids in addition there is a Tank, an American Flag and place to honor all branches of our military, and finally plenty of places to try and fish. Warning ots of mosquitoes and sand fleas. Bring the repellant!!! I love this special place and hope you do too. (Covid-19 alert restrooms are closed but there are port a potty with fot pump hand washing station. Bring your own water with you as many water fountains are off)

Great Park with an interesting monument in it of an actual tank even though the tank is disabled and not working it is great to see this thing and pay your respect to all our current Fallen Future Past and Present Armed Force members and it's also a great place to launch your boat or just go fishing at

Such a quiet place to find solitude among nature. It's a very big place and you're almost guaranteed a spot without humans at least somewhere in there. You can end up seeing lots of cute rabbits and other creatures. Beautiful views down by the water. Small cute playground for the kids! Lots of shelters for parties or get togethers. Parking everywhere.

Very clean park. Many trails to explore. Great areas with playground equipment for all kids. Very nice kayak launch in the rear of the park and a fantastic boat ramp in the entrance to the park. Lots of trees and easy to find a cool relaxing picnic site.

This is a really neat, kind of hidden park between the Bay Pines National Cemetery and the boat launch ramps area. I was able to sit at a picnic table and eat my lunch while looking out at the water. There are hiking paths a picnic pavilions as well.

Beautiful Park! Enjoyed watching the sun set. Need to wear water shoes to protect your feet if you plan to go in the water. Not an area to swim due to large clusters of barnicles on cement clusters / structure. Very clean & great place to walk the dogs or bring the kids.

It's truly sad on the condition of the park. This park use to be beautiful and well maintained, not anymore! The trees, palms and grass areas are all in need of trimming and some tender loving care. Pinellas County has sure abandoned one of their most beautiful assets!
