One of the best beaches I’ve been to. There’s plenty of space for everyone. It didn’t feel crowded at all. Plenty of parking. They provided trash cans, a snack area & bathrooms with showers. You do have to pay $5 to get in & it closes at 6PM currently. The water was clear & the sunset was STUNNING. I was able to walk along & find so many unique shells. I cannot recommend this beach enough.

What a wonderful park!! The beaches are beautiful and both have their individual perks -- East Beach is more shallow and perfect for children who are learning to swim and enjoy the ocean, and has a lovely view of a suspension bridge nearby! North Beach is huge and expansive with lots of ocean life and deeper, clearer waters. Plenty of space to relax on the beach, play in the water, or interact with local sea life. The historical section was lovely as well, we enjoyed walking through the fort and reading the plaques as well as looking at the provided images and touching the huge cannons in the area. Overall, a very nice learning experience for those who enjoy history! There is a LOT of wildlife at Fort DeSoto, especially avians! We were able to get up close and personal with several bird species, had a school of stingrays swim around us in the ocean, and found many many live sea dollars! If you're a lover of nature, this is a great spot to experience much of the wildlife Florida has to offer. If you have a chance to visit, its worth the time spent and the small parking fee! Ask for a map at the entrance and enjoy a day of exploring and beaching -- there's a gift shop as well, if you'd like to take home a memento from what will surely be a wonderful day at Fort DeSoto!!

This is a must visit when you're in the St Petersburg, Clearwater area. An expansive soft white sandy beach stretches as far as you can see, lots of shallow areas with soft sand on the bottom that are perfect for small children. Walk a bit further north (short, easy and relaxing walk) and you get to an area where lots of boats are docked with people fishing, playing in the water and just hanging out. Lots of parking even when it seems to be full. Large pavilions available; each has 3 built-in BBQ grills. Public bathrooms available with toilet paper, soap and paper towels. There is a simple shower stand outside the public bathrooms for washing the sand off. To enter Fort De Soto Park there's a $5 charge.

A wonderful and clean beach. The white sand is just mesmerizing. This beach gives that secluded private beach feeling. Plenty of free space for kids to have fun and make their sand castles and at a safe distance from the beach. Nice spot to have a beach run, but the waves were not that high for surfing. You can collect plenty of different variety of shells if you are interested. No hassle in finding a parking place. Does have any porta potty close by, so plan well.

The water is beautiful and clean. The sand is amazing as well. It almost feels like that kinetic sand but alot softer. There are a lot of different spots to choose from, and they also have spots by an old fort. It is definitely worth a drive. Make sure you bring your snorkel!!! Being at the beach is great, but being able to see clearly under the water is where it's at. -The only suggestion I would have for the recreation for the county is to put in some type of ramp that leads to the water. My father is handicapped and was not able to enjoy the water. He had to stay back by the parking lot. We didn't know this was an issue until we got there.

North Beach is one of the best beaches in the area! White powder sand and clear water! There is ample parking. Rest rooms, snack bar and shower/foot washing stations are also available. Parking is only $5, which can be paid via Flowbird website or app. When using the text to pay option, they just text you a link to the website. There are also kiosks that accept credit cards but the one nearest our car was out of order the day we visited.

Probably one of the best beaches I have ever been to in my life. Water was soothing and warm and the sand is incredibly soft. I watched a beautiful sunset with my wife while my kids had a wild time looking for different sea shells. There are well maintained playgrounds here as well with green parrots flying around like its Rio. A wonderful place for families to enjoy while in Florida.

Beautiful low key beach about 1 hour 30 minutes away from Kissimmee, Florida. Clear water, white sand beautiful shoreline. No trash anywhere! The water is so nice and we saw ships out in the distance while we ate lunch. Such a wonderful treat, $5 for all day parking. Totally worth the drive as well as looking at other beautiful beaches along the way. Sea shells everywhere, just a great time. We stayed for about 5 hours.

Beautiful beach to sit and relax. Even on the 4th of July it was crowded but wasn’t so crowded you couldn’t enjoy your time there. Lifeguard do their job and are very alert to their surroundings. Wonderful place to boat and dock in. There are restrooms available as well.

It's as good as it gets. Incredible beach, snack bar and if you want a great adventure take the ferry to Egmont Key! Paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and just hanging out. Showers and restrooms too. The best $5 you'll ever spend for the whole and they have a campground.

Absolutely loved this soft white sand beach! The expanse of space to relax and walk is incredible- and we were there for spring break. Beautiful clear turquoise blue water. The only thing we did was relax & walk salt North beach- for 6 hours! The entire Fort De Soto area offers so much more- piers, fort, history info, dog beach, other beaches. Must visit again!

Great escape from the hussle and bussle of the city. Clear waters, white sands and plenty of birds and marine life. Perfect spots for parties and barbacues. Here the beach does not allow pets. Incredible sunsets happen most days.

Beautiful beach, lots of space to keep social distancing. Ample parking, showers, picnic tables, shallow sandbars for the kids to play in, boat access, public restrooms. There are places that offers snacks as well but not sure if it was open because of Covid19. There is a $5 fee to get into the park and toll roads but well worth it. The park closes at 9pm and authorities comb the park to make sure every leaves when the park closes.

Finally, the red tide cleared out of this beach. Clear water and no smell, though probably there was no breeze to carry it inland. Storm Fred might stirs it all up this weekend.

We love going to this beach, water and skies were crystal clear, and about air temp 74 and water 68 degrees Fahrenheit. 75 cents for the Florida toll and $5 entrance fee. A must go to beach.

This placeis awesome. Huge, has something for everyone. Fishing pier, boat ramp, dog beach, human beach. Cost $5. There are a few places where you can enter your license plate and use credit card to pay or you can pay by an app. They have plenty of placing to get drinks and snacks. Restrooms. The human beach had life guards.

Beautiful beach. Clear water and nice soft sand. Not very busy when we went on a Thursday. May he because it’s a little out of the way and you have to pay to park.

This place is amazing. Plenty of parking and only $5 a day compared to $3/hour around other st pete beaches. The white sand is so nice and there’s plenty of room to spread out. Saw some dolphins swim up close to people right near the shore.

I like how this beach has sand bars and you can see and play around with the fish that are in there. None of them are very deep and you can sit and play in them and walk through them to get to the other side and finally over to the ocean. The water is also pretty clear. Very enjoyable!

Great beach to go! Most importantly, it was clean. Lots of people at the time. Big parking lot. The sand felt great, and water was at the right temperature. Bathrooms were nearby, as well as a snack shack.

Not too crowded. Went on an overcast day however. Long walk from parking to the beach.

I was expecting the beach at the north end to be a little nicer than it was, there is a large section protected for wildlife & lots of crushed shells clustered in the sand. From my observation the beach at the actual fort appeared the nicest though I did not visit that beach but only observed from the top of the fort. There is also a shop & food/drinks available there. The East beach seems more popular for fishing. They all have restrooms, picnic tables etc.

This beach is beautiful. The sand is fairly hard packed which makes it pretty easy to wheel out your gear if you travel with a cart. A large sandbar creates a small river, teaming with little fish, between the ocean and beach. The water is warm, calm and almost entirely transparent. The kids get vary excited as they run across a crab or baby snail while digging in the sand.

This was a beautiful beach, we enjoyed the view from the pier, and even got to see Dolphins jumping around and swimming. The kids loved it. Then we went swimming at the North side beach.

  • 5/5 Brian W. 3 years ago on Google
Big sand bars with a ton of wildlife. Multiple crabs, sea squirts, jelly fish, shoreline fish, horseshoe crabs, and a very curious manatee! Pretty marshy beach, not everyone will enjoy, but a serene beach none the less. $5 to get in, plenty of park style bathrooms and grills to use, gift/snack shop as well. Lots of fishing and boating and a real escape from the hustle and bustle of popular beaches.

  • 5/5 Jack R. 3 years ago on Google
Great place to see and photograph shorebirds and wading birds! Big, wide beaches with tidal channels attract lots of birds and provide clean, photogenic settings. Great for bird photography, birdwatching, or just enjoying a beautiful beach.

  • 2/5 Lace 3 years ago on Google
Overall, for the tolls you pay plus $5 entry fee to the park I wouldn't recommend it if you're coming for a family day at the beach. If you're there for touring the fort and the trails then it may be worth it. Pros: Had fun riding the buggy bike with my hubby, all the workers were nice, people were socially distanced, and the fort was cool to see. Cons: Bike was $29/hour to rent which we thought was pretty steep. The North beach smelled sooo awful. Like a mix of bird poo, dead fish and sewage. We went in for a couple minutes and turned right back around. Not sure if it's always like this or if this was a rare occurrence? St Pete Beach is much nicer, though. We didn't try the East beach so I can't speak for that.
