This location provides you a beautiful view of many major locations- the natural environment, downtowns St. Petersburg and Tampa, the power plants and more. You really get a beautiful view and a nice place to sit down, relax and enjoy the scenery.

A short walk on the boardwalk gets you to this picturesque observation tower that is three stories about the boardwalk. It offers a nice view of the lagoon and surrounding wilderness. Keep an eye out for crabs, raccoons, lizards and plenty of birds. Alligators have been spotted nearby along with gopher tortoises.

Well maintained observation tower. The walkway is maintained clean. Three cities( tampa, st.pete & clearwater) can be seen from tower. Feel like Mangrove forest us endless. Enjoyed the time with mother nature.

One of the best boardwalks in Tampa leads to this observation tower. This well maintained boardwalk is right through the middle of beautiful mangrove forests. Kayak route also goes nearby or sometimes under the boardwalk. There is a Pier on the way, which gives an amazing view of the lake. There are small crabs everywhere, but they never bother us. However , an insect repellent is recommended, as there are plenty of invisible bugs. Raccoons can also be spotted. The tower gives a birds eye view of the entire preserve and beyond. From the top, we can see the the skylines of Tampa and St.Petersburg. Indeed a very relaxing place surrounded by natural beauty and greenery. Tips : The 'tower board walk' is circular and the observatory is an extension somewhere in the middle. However there is no signs which points to that. Get a map of preserve, and look up for the extension. Avoid climbing the tower if there is a chance of lightning.

Beautiful place, well kept, safe and great for hiking. Just be careful when you climb the observation tower, it shifts a bit when you are at the very top, we thought it was the wind but it was not.

A little piece of paradise. A quiet place to walk away from the buzz of big cities.

Fabulous views. It feels like "your" world goes on & on. The tower is located on Weedon Island. It is a short walk on a board walk to the tower. There are a number of flights of stairs but not too many as you can always stop & catch your breath as the view is worth it. See the mangroves and water as far as you can see!

Peaceful, clean with Armadillos, raccoons, lizards, and assorted wildlife. Apparently also has dolphins if you go for a swim/canoe.

Great vantage point to view not only the island area but also see the distant skylines of 3 cities and other noticeable landmarks.

Wheedon Nature Reserve is a gem of a place with lots of trails, mangroves, boardwalks and a boat ramp to put your boat, canoe, kayak in and pal around.
