At $7.00 per person with our discount I set my expectations low, but I still expected more than what I saw. It was pitiful!!! The overall appearance of the park and zoo was Sad to say the least. As we entered the Zoo we were greeted by a very nice young lady reading a magazine with her feet propped up. She informed us that due to the Covid some attractions weren’t available. Like the petting zoo, but we were invited to view the animals from the fence line (we saw none). We proceeded to the Alligator exhibit and began to get the feeling that we had driven 3 hours for nothing! We quickly caught on to the fact that whatever had been here before that everyone rated so highly had now been taken over by Laziness and total disregard to the entire purpose of a zoo. It appeared that a storm had knocked down some trees throughout the park some time ago, but no one had done anything about it and had no plans to do anything based on what appeared to be permanent blockades to some areas due to the downed trees that have now began to rot. The zoo was more of a walk through an unsightly forest with a few under kept areas that had a few animals. With some serious clean up, debris removal, and staff changes I do believe however it has great potential to be a wonderful zoo again like everyone has claimed in the past.

We stayed at camping spot #15 & it's mostly shaded. We had a picnic table & fire pit with grill top, perfect! There are a LOT of ants, so come prepared! (I use blue dawn, windex & water spray on our door mat and around our tires to keep ants out of the RV). We didn't use the bath house much, but it needs a good pressure wash and paint job. Everyone is nice and very helpful. There is an amazing splash pad & playground. The zoo is nice and affordable. We rode our bikes from camping spot to zoo. This is a nice park to bike. We'll be back! Next time, we'll bring discs for golf.

I keep returning to this park because we always have great family memories each time. I would rather visit this park rather than all the beaches in Florida. You have tall pines, tent, cabin, and RV camping. I love watching people race remote control cars there. This year, we were camping during the honey jam concert and loved the surprise of good family music. We tried our hand at fishing. It was so much fun. We had a kids pole and got the bait store down the road to hook it for us. LIFETIME MEMORIES! We never made it to the hiking trails. We need to come back. The only cons here is bathrooms need updating in camping area and the awesome playground has some wear and tear.(Not a deal breaker for me.) The zoo is a bonus.

I had previously visited the zoo more then 10 years ago. I was disappointed to come back and being my son and see that probably 10 percent of the animal exhibits were just abandoned. There was even an exhibit that looked like it was started years ago and they just stopped in the middle of building it. There was a sign at the meerkat exhibit that the last one had died off but most of the empty exhibits did not provide a sign or anything. I enjoyed seeing the animals they did have, they have cheetahs, alligators, camels, a black rhino, and a few others. I loved the alligator exhibit, I have always thought this was the best alligator exhibit I jade seen any where because you can really see them up close and there are so many. I also loved seeing their bar exhibit, they are straw colored fruit bats and we were in time to see them eat and fly around a little. The park was not very busy at all, we went on a Friday. The signs inside are all very faded and in general the park just looks very fun down. I was so excited to come back after all these years but disappointed to see it was not still in great shape. I would still suggest coming, it is not very expensive and it's fun to see the animals! It is still worth the money but do not expect to need over a couple of hours to explore the whole thing.

This place is great for family activities! There’s many different activities to choose from. We visited the zoo & had a great day. There’s many interesting animals to see and the walk around is pleasant. The prices are a little high in the gift shop

Nice, easy walk through the countryside viewing animals along the way. You are able to get really close to the animals so they were easy to see. Only four stars because it looked like there used to be more exhibits. We stopped for ice cream and leisurely strolled and we finished the tour in two hours. Still a really nice outing and would definitely recommend it!

Don't waste your time! I packed up the family and drove an hour to see their "Drive through" Christmas lights as advertised. Let's just say huge disappointment. When we got there we were told it was no longer Drive through. It was a walk through at the zoo. We said OK thinking that they still had a light display. They did not. They have a few stand up lighted animals. Talk about bait and switch. They did have a petting zoo open with a cow, a donkey and some goats. That was exciting..... we definitely was disappointed and wasted a tank of gas to go see this. The picture I added was all they had for lights.

Beautiful park and rv spots. Wonderful for families with so much to keep kids and adults entertained. Splash pad, great playground, disc golf, rc racing, picnic areas, tent camping, etc. The ONLY reason I did not give this fabulous park a 5 star was the women’s shower was nasty and moldy.

We may have visited at a poor time. We were happy we had most of the place to ourselves (due to Omicron COVIDbconcerns) but given the chilly weather a lot of the animals weren't visible. We did not encounter zoo staff in the actual zoo but the front desk staff seemed a bit bothered we were there visiting and didn't offer much information upon arrival. The outdoor petting zoo was closed, which was one of the main draws for us with our young kids. When we asked about it (we were wearing masks in an overabundance of caution, though the staff person who sold us tickets wasn't) we were told it was to "protect the animals from COVID" which was either misinformed or an excuse. Animals' risk of transmission is low, according to the best information we have (Animals and COVID-19 | CDC). We did really enjoy our walk through the park as a family. The facility seems to involve a lot of grant work and collaboration. Many of the housed animals are endangered.

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. Stopped here on day trip up from Valdosta. Admission is cheap so we were expecting much. But they had more animals then we were expecting. Nice little zoo to stop into. And it's great since it's affordable to get into.

Chesham Park is a nice little out of the way place near Albany, GA. It has a nice splash park and a huge playground. There are plenty of picnic tables and a huge open area for kuds a d the family to spread out and play. The park is $3.50 for adults and $2 for kids. The have a Military discount as well, it is the same as the kids price. If that were not enough the have a small zoo with a Rhino, bears, snakes, kangaroos, turtles, alligators, lemurs, meerkat, tigers, and wolves. They also have a very nice petting zoo. You can also feed the Rhino. The petting zoo and feeding the Rhino is included in the price of $8 for an adult and $5 for a child or military. Senior discount is $7. They also have RV and Tent camping $35-16per night and Cabin rentals $35-75per night. It is a great family place and the prices are beyond reasonable.

Awesome local park and Zoo! Great place for children of all ages offering picnic areas, a zoo, toddler playground, children's playground, disc golf course, and seasonal events including a fantastic holiday light show! The family membership offers an unbeatable price! Well worth the price of admission.

This could be a spectacular place to take your family but instead it is just ok. Lots of issues with the boardwalks. I am not a huge guy but not a small one and several places in the park where I could feel the walkways giving under my feet. Also not as many animals as there used to be. I loved Chehaw when I moved here 13 years ago and now it is sad to see the decay of it happening.

It was nice revisiting Chewhaw. I haven't been in many years. We were really excited about seeing the animals and getting a chance to feed the goats, but unfortunately we weren't able to pet or feed the goats. We did get a chance to feed the tortoises. Food and drink prices are very reasonable. It did seem as if there weren't as many animals as I remembered in my childhood. But still fun and a great learning experience for adults and children. Don't forget to check out the stork, Lonely Joe, at the end of the bridge.

Beautiful park with a nice campground, water pad for kids, zoo, and several other amenities. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Watching the alligator feeding at 2:30 pm Saturdays is a real treat. You can buy a tin of special snacks to feed the gators for $10 and participate rather than just watch! The park is a great space place for the whole family and it is dog-friendly. The grounds are quiet, green, peaceful, well-maintained, and clean. Bathrooms in the campground are clean but showing signs of wear and tear and could use some TLC. We spent 2 days camping and thought it well-worth the price of admission.

Back in its heyday the park was a tough competitor to all the big zoos, for its size and stature.. but like all things in life time takes its toll ,it may not be as glamorous as it once was..Yet the park still makes for a wonderful and educational time to spend with family and friends..The staff and handlers of the animals do their absolute best to inform and educate the visitors that attend the shows and feedings of the animals..My family went past Saturday and had a wonderful time Our goal was to feed the rino but just didn't make it in time.. instead we got to feed the alligators and it was worth it for sure..up close and personal it seemed the staff were really great and very patient with the little kids..and it was a great price for all of it..thanks chee haw we will be back..

We recently moved to Georgia from Indiana and bought the yearly membership for Chehaw Park and the Flint Riverquarium. Well worth it! We have been here so many times! The zoo is great! Not too big that it's daunting to take the kids 😂, but big enough to take a nice walk and spend an hour. The alligators are my kids favorite. The playground is large with lots to do. The splash pad was fun in the summer when it's so hot!

We mainly went for the zoo part so our toddler could see different animals. Needs a lot of maintenance done. The boardwalks are honestly dangerous in some areas boards are pulled up and even the stone areas are cracked and uneven. One of our companions has a bad knee so it was rough for them. The railings are also very wobbly in areas. There are not very many animals. Alot of the enclosures were empty and overgrown. The park itself may be worth a visit but the extra charge for the zoo isn't really worth it anymore. It's gone really downhill over the last 20 years. This used to be my favorite field trip in elementary school, and now I see why my old school doesn't even take kids here anymore.

It is a small zoo with helpful employees who seem to really care about the animals. It's perfect for a fairly short outing with young children and toddlers! The bridge was a favorite for both of my children. The park does have some damage and trees down from several recent storms that affected several exhibits, however, this did not warrant complaints. Instead, the experience encouraged my daughter to request that we go help clean up one weekend.

We love the zoo here. The alligators are so awesome. Nice selection of animals, fun to watch and take pictures. The kids love it. Not too big but it's not small; nice size for a fun afternoon. There is wildlife everywhere in here (keep your eyes open on the wooden trails we have seen snakes)

Cute zoo. Took my grandchildren there and they enjoyed it. It's not like the bigger zoos but a cute outing for the kids. They played in the nice playground afterward and truly enjoyed it.

We love this place! The playground is a fun little stop before we make our way to the zoo. This is a great zoo for little kids too. It's not too much to walk, there are great animals, we loved the alligator area!

Never again. The bathrooms are NASTY, NASTY and Disgusting. There are no doors going into the bathrooms, doors inside are rusted, paint is peeling through out. Bugs and spiders were bad. Ants are really bad through out the campground.. There were 3 light poles, only 1 worked. When it rains you can tell the campsites flood. No gravel for the sites. We were not impressed. The only good thing we have to say, they have a lot for kids to do.

Wonderful space that's for sure. But the animals look like they are hungry and wasted. I paid to come out here for the first time with my family, some areas the animals were not there due to passing away. I would've prefer if they would have told me in the gate and keep up with the list of animals. This is to pricey for nothing. The staff is not walking around to maintain grounds. The animals were thirsty u can tell highly not satisfied would love to receive a refund.

We love the Chehaw Zoo. It's a great way to spend active time with family outside. This was our first time on the tractor-pulled ride through the open area, and we got a great look at the ostriches! The guide and junior volunteer provided excellent information. Don't miss feeding the alligators!

Love camping here! The RV campground is quiet, safe, friendly, and very affordable. There is tent camping, too. Lots of things for families to do: big playground, BMX track, hiking trails, canoe and kayak launch on Lake Chehaw, disc golf, and a great little wild animal park (several critically endangered species). Would give Chehaw 5 stars except for the bath and laundry facilities, which are in desperate need of renovation.

We stayed at the Chehaw Campground for a week in January. Site 18 was really big and close to the shower house. The park and campground grounds are very beautiful. The setting is peaceful and serene, the playground and RC race track were great for the kids. But this park gets 4 stars for two reasons. First, the bathhouse is in need of repair. The floors and walls have peeling paint, the stall doors are rusted and falling apart, and the entire bathroom was soaking wet every morning. Not sure if it was from a leak. Second, the park does not have a monthly rate for people looking for an extended vacation or in the Albany area for work. I will definitely stay again if I’m the area.

SCHOOL TRIPS: The zoo is a good destination for local schools, but I would not recommend traveling long distance. We traveled 2 hours for a zoo trip, but unfortunately our experience was not what we had hoped. In the short time we had, we had an animal expert talk to us about turtles, snakes, and skinks. She was phenomenal and great with kids. Our disappointment was these animals are presented at any non-zoo animal habitat in the region. We had hoped for something unique and more zoo related. We had about 30 minutes after the presentation to view animals in the zoo and the selection is pretty limited. There is a lot more walking to see few animals. The food kiosk was open a brief period of time with a long line. When I returned at 12pm to check the line, the kiosk was closed and the attendant didn’t bother to open the window to talk to me. On a good note, the facilities appear very nice. I can imagine during their peak times that the operation might be good. I would definitely suggest that Chehaw improve their School group experience.
