We stopped by here for lunch, and both the food and service were wonderful. We’ve never had Venezuelan street food, and we thought we’d branch out this time and give it a try. The walls and tables are so colorful, which really brightens the mood of the whole place. We ordered the tequenos, patacon pisao with pork, cachapas todera with shredded chicken, and pabellon arepas. The service was super quick, and the food was delicious. My absolute favorite by far was the tequenos, which were so light for a fried food and came with a flavorful sauce. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

This place hits home for me 🇨🇴 😍 the deliciousness ...my mouth is watering thinking of the sweet Plantains. When I 1st found this place It wasn't long before I made a 2nd trip for more. My husband is vegetarian but I'm not, we were both happy with the selections they have and we will be back to try everything!

Food is great and staff are amazing. My partner and I split the de calle arepa and tequeños. Both tasted amazing and left us full and happy. The staff also graciously indulged our numerous requests for more sauce which we are eternally grateful for

HIDDEN GEM!!!!!!!! Everything was DELICIOUS!!! (and their menu is authentically GLUTEN FREE except for ONE item). I have no words to describe the FLAVOR BOMB!!! And what a Bargain!!! Everything homemade. The owners are proud and are present - they are from Venezuela! This place is a TREASURE.

My hubby ate here for the first time a few weeks ago and couldn’t stop talking about it, so naturally he forced me to eat there. We ordered a feast like, 30 minutes before closing time, but the service was still top-notch and the food came out fast. The food was affordable, and came with a lot!! The average price of a meal is around $8 or $9, with affordable priced sides and desserts. For the value, the food was fantastic and I recommend that if you are in the area you try this place out!

WE LOVE A NEW FOODIE SPOT We ordered from Door Dash from here because the restaurant came up as a suggestion. We were looking for somewhere new to eat and this seemed like an exciting choice. We got the Yuca Fries, Tajadas De Plantano, and the Pabellion and Patacon Pinton. We really enjoyed the Patacon Pinton but my bf didn’t love the Pabellon as much. Overall I thought the food was good and not the price was pretty reasonable! It’s worth a try if you’re looking for this kind of cuisine! Enjoy!

Service was the perfect slow down about 6pm on Friday. Service friendly. Space smelled clean. Bathroom tidy. My friend and I f&(ked up this food thinking we were going to snack. Ended up eating everything. Patacón Piso, Patacón Pintón, Yuca fries, vegan Marquesa, vegan Tres leches, cilantro lemonade, and cane sugar lemonade. I wasn’t ready for the explosion of flavors.

Empanada texture is on point. The plantain sandwich was super good. And their plantain fries? That was really good. The green sauce for the empanada is super good. I ask the management to make the other empanadas asado black or something, a main staple. Best empanada ive ever tasted, make it permanent!!!

The food quality here is fresh and extremely delicious. Mouth watering the moment you see it. I will come here at least 4+ times per month. So good. I am a huge lover to Cachapas, this is so good.

I love arepas. Double bonus, empanadas, all GF. They also have a designated fryer folks, so yucca frita are gf too. Whoowhoooo. This was fabulous, what I enjoyed the most was all the sauces. I haven't had so many choices before, each unique, all very tasty. The empanadas change daily, so we had the potato and cheese. Spectacular. Also went with the carne plater which was not overly sweet, just right. I loved the chicken and gouda arepa, the cilantro in the chicken salad brought a brightness to the meal. And they had cilantro lemonade which was tasty too. My friend and i shared, it was great. A great find for the next time I'm in Philly.

Cute little spot, tasty food. My Abuela didn't make empanadas with these exactly fillings but the crust was exactly the same texture and aroma. Tostones and guasacaca (the green sauce) were also wonderful (though not like hers). The avocado sauce wasn't my favorite but the red salsa was excellent

For what some may call a “hole in the wall” they have excellent food. Took time to make the food so you know everything isn’t premade and it’s actually cooked fresh on site. Some reviews say bad customer service if you want this to be a classy dine-in experience. Dine- In is more of a wait for your order (u order at the front and pay). Like ordering. take out but it’s brought to the table. Good music and food. I have a “Full belly, happy heart”

This really isn’t a fair review because I only had beef empanadas but these were fire. They are different (I guess this is Venezuelan empanada) than other empanadas I’ve had in other South American countries. They are packed with beef and the sauce it comes with is great. Anyways I will go back to try the rest of the menu. The restaurant is super cool and very colorful. I love that they have descriptions and pictures of what each type of food is instead of leaving you wondering.

Just amazing. Warm and friendly service, cozy space, and every single thing I've tried on their menu is just delicious. They are so kind - always answer questions about menu items, cheerful, accommodating - one time recently I misread their hours & walked in 15 minutes before they were open, but they very kindly served me anyway and I didn't even realize until later. Great prices and so authentic too. Go check Puyero out ASAP!!

It is a very nice and really cozy place. The staff is very friendly. As for the food, it's passable, it's definitely not the best cachapa I've eaten, but it's not the worst either. The patacon was very good. The only complaint I have is that I ordered a cachapa and they gave me the wrong item, when I made the claim, they only put the chicken inside the same cachapa and it was all mixed up. I think that the next time something of this type happens to them, they should prepare a new dish or perhaps give the protein in a different container and the client should proceed to put it, because it was really unpleasant. I know that with this comment they will improve it in the future.

Food was awesome. Full of favor and taste. I was quickly served and service was very friendly. The decor was very bright and witty. If I had to say something negative, I only wished the portions were a tad larger. Food was so very good. Definitely going back as soon as I get the chance.

Some of the best food I've ever had. I will forever be dragging people here every time I'm in Philly. Fantastic dishes unlike anything you can taste around here. 10/10

Simple food done spectacularly. I've eaten plenty of venezuelan food before and yet this place blew my mind. You can taste its authenticity, but its been leveled up. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere makes u feel like youre eating in a family kitchen.

We always like the food, but they are unreliable, today for example they were “out of food” at 4:30 on a Sunday. We were looking forward to picking food for the family. This is not the first time it has happened that they did not have items available. Venezuelan restaurant should mean Venezuelan food, not Venezuelan service. Hopefully they can improve their business management and become reliable.

Highly recommended by my son & daughter in law. Phoned in for pick up. Too bad everything had cooled before the first bite. Still the arepas were very tasty. We ordered Tequenos de Queso (fried cheese), Reina Pepiada Arepa Especial (shredded chicken, fried sweet plantains w avocados & gouda cheese), and Pabellon Arepa (shredded beef, black beans, w white cheese & fried sweet plantains). The sauces were killin'!

If I am on South Street, I always make a stop here. The food is unforgettably delicious and I guarantee you will wake up one day after eating it and CRAVE the Patacon Pisao. Such flavor as I've never had before. When I take my first bite, every time, I shake my head in disbelief. How is it that incredible? This is the sort of place you go out of your way to share with the people you love. The food is that good. If you live in Philly, eat here.

Such a delicious find! The owner was warm and inviting. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. Stopped by for a late lunch and an item I wanted to try was sold out. I can definitely understand why. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were great. Can’t wait to go back, but I’ll definitely make sure I get there early. Definitely need to try everything on the menu!
