If I could put a zero review, I would off, but only can do 1 star. Was excited to eat some Puerto Rican food and ordered 4 fried chicken and instead I got 3 very small burned chicken, not to mention the rice was sticky. Very disappointed and disgusted and I have to throw the food away. Please don’t waste your money in this place.

The place is super clean, and people were nice, but never again. I asked for "carne frita" she asked me if I wanted rice, I said only the meat, but i never expected to pay $8.99 for this miniature portion, when i checked in the car i simply left cause they made me wait 45 minutes for this. I asked around about the place and received bad reviews but i gave it a try. The bacalaitos not good, they are big but bad.

The place was 70% full, they have about 18 tables. It’s self seating! I felt the service was slow as they did not acknowledge me when I walked in. It took about 7 minutes before they brought me a menu and the young lady didn’t even introduce herself. Then it was about another 5 mins before they came for my order. They are bilingual, so they spoke both Spanish and English. I ordered the Masitas de pollo with arroz con gandules and Sorullos de maíz as an appetizer. The appetizer and the food came out together 🫣 The rice with Gandules had smoked salmon inside it, 😤 so it tasted fishy. It’s a first for me, not impressed 😡. I found the masitas de pollo dry and kind of bland as well, they didn’t provide any types of sauces. I had to ask for Mayo-ketchup. The sorullos were tasty tho. The place was packed tho. So I guess it’s probably a hit or miss based on your choices hence my rating. However, I won’t return.

We had mofongo and it was amazing. Pork chunks and shrimp was delicious too. Loved the passion fruit juice… And the coconut flan to die for.. so perfect!! Place was very clean, including the bathroom. The service was great as well, the ladies there were very attentive and friendly.

It has been some years since I've eaten at El Pilon at which during that time, it was under a different owner. Today, I used their online reservation app to reserve a table for me, my Dominican niece/nephew and my Boricuan friend (Little sister) and her son (my nephew). We had the pleasure of dining under the current owner Jose. We all have a Caribbean flare, so it wasn't a problem ordering from the menu. We ordered Alcappurias de Guineo, Empanada de Carne, Pollo Guisado y Arroz Blanco y Frijoles y Papitas fritas, Carne Guisado y Arroz con Gandules y Tostones. Let me 1st express how FRESH the food was. There was nothing old or outdated about this food. This was truly 💯% FRESH (Not frozen) homemade Boricuan food. 🇵🇷❤ Jose did an EXCELLENT job preparing each dish that we ordered. We could taste every seasoning and herbs that Jose used in the food. Authentic food at its Best!!💯 The staff was very courteous, friendly and professional. I asked my server to have Jose (the owner) come to my table so that I could acknowledge him and he made time in between cooking to greet us and inquired as to whether we were satisfied with our meal. Jose, mi Corazon, mi Amor y Amigo, THANK YOU for adding your heart and soul of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 to your menu items. This was by far the BEST Boricuan food we've had from a restaurant and possibly from our Boricuan friends home. If it's Fresh, Delicious, Tasty, Authentic Puerto Rican food cooked with Love that you crave, then stop by El Pilon Restaurant on Cleveland Ave. next to Burlington department store. You will be pleasantly amazed. ❤🇵🇷💯 Gracias para todo, Jose. Dios te bendiga. 🙏🇵🇷❤

Food was terrible, rice was dry, pastele was hard as a rock! Meatball was soggy inside and crispy outside. Couldn’t eat any of the food I ordered. 😭 added nasty ketchup to the rice to make it less dry.

This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was so festive, we felt like we really were in the Caribbean. The owner Jose came out to talk to us and he immediately made us feel like family. It was a great experience all around, we definitely will be going back and telling everyone we know to go and enjoy a great meal and have an amazing time!!

(Translated by Google) Good food and clean restaurant, but it is inadmissible and very dangerous and that the owners allow the waitress to be working and have their children in the kitchen is against the law and hopefully the owners will not allow it anymore and has to be reported to the government. Ordered chicken stew, but when my food came out, I got beef stew instead. Waitress never checked on me, so I had to flag her over to tell her the food was wrong. After bringing me the chicken, she never came over again to give me my bill, so I went to the register to pay. To top it all off, I was overcharged; she charged me for the beef (which was more expensive), not for the chicken.

This place taste like home. The woman in the front was very nice & attentive. The service was fast and the food (penil, roasted pork w/ yellow rice & grilled steak w/ white rice, pinto beans, bonus the beans come with sausage) excellent and generous sized portions for a good price.

We had the pleasure of eating at El Pilon yesterday with some friends. The food was AMAZING! I even just ate my leftovers for breakfast 😄. It’s a nice unpretentious place, with a great staff and Jose the owner is wonderful. If you like excellent food with a Caribbean flair, this place is for you. We had a lot of things and it was all fantastic. Well be back for sure!

El Pilon was a great find. We were passing by heading out to Sanibel and just had to stop and check it out. While they have everything you expect from a typical Puerto Rican restaurant. Would recommend. SN: If using GPS, it may bring you to a local gas station which is across the street. It is next door to the Burlington store in the South Plaza shopping mall.

I rarely give reviews to places I go, but I felt like I had to share my personal experience at this location. Food was amazing, I had “La bandeja jibara” super flavorful dish, great amount of serving for the price. The music to the decorations and the atmosphere overall felt like I was back home! BIG SHOUT OUT TO NATALY she took great care of me . Hands down the best place around to get your Puertorican/ Spanish food. 😃

Wow, wow, wow!!! I am visiting from Maui and there is no good Latin food there. Being Puerto Rican, I knew this was my opportunity to get some good food. I somehow landed on El Pilón. The photos honestly don’t do justice. I wish you could taste the flavor of these dishes when you see the photos in the reviews. Hands down, que sabor! The best meal of our entire trip. We started in Indiana to visit family and took a road trip all the way to Cape Coral. To top it off, David our server was great. Very sweet and attentive to our table. It was myself and my four crazy kids. He was always so kind to see if we needed anything. Thank you David! I hope to be back one day just for the food and David’s service!!! Hasta luego

Jose brings an authentic Puerto Rican touch to every dish at this hidden gem of a restaurant. Daughter had Ropa vieja (saporita😋!) and I had shrimp and salmon with rice and beans. Don't forget the tostones! Yum! Omgoodness and coconut oat and pineapple drink.... All fantastic and reasonably priced 👍

Been a while since my last visit. Used to be great food, but not today. Over cooked chicken and rice and under cooked plantains. Inedible and it was my lunch on the go. Very disappointing since o specifically chose to go here.

I had a quick lunch here earlier this week. I was very pleasingly surprised. I was greeted by a smiling server who showed me to my table and shared the menu. Romona was attentive without being condescending she was polite and knowledgeable, I took her suggestion and had a wonderful meal. The portions were unexpectedly large, and beautifully presented. I really enjoy Cuban food and was not disappointed in the selections. The Porto Rican fare was new to me but I really enjoyed it.

I just moved to Fort Myers and was looking for a good Puerto Rican restaurant, I am so glad I found this place. I had David as a waiter and he was awesome, he gave us great service and the food was great, I will definitely be coming back and bringing my friends with me!!

Small place, dirty menus and terrible food. Place is so small that we almost didn't fit on the tables. Menus were given to us full of bread crumbs and dust. Anyone attends your table, you don't have a server for you specifically Black rice was dry and looked like everything but rice. Salad had no dressing at all, we were not asked either. Meat was smelled and tested old, also the sauce am sure it wasn't made that day. Surcharge Fee is applied when you pay with a credit card

While I was out in Fort Myers, I needed to taste Mofongo again since I been craving it so. One of my colleagues recommended this place, and I loved my dish! I got the Shrimp Garlic Sauce Mofongo. It was tasty and authentic like I was in Cuba! They have a clean interior and the music makes you want to get up and dance. I liked the decor inside and the paintings they had which gives it more of a Caribbean atmosphere. They only reason why it isn’t 5 stars is because I felt as if my plate could of had more sides and less sweet plantain. Maybe some rice or some veggies or something. But besides that I’d give it 4.5 out of 5 stars! It is a well known place as I see people come in and order to go or dine in like we did. Tip: I like drinking agua frescas like pina pr horchata or something. But they don’t have that. They have cans of soda.

My son, my friend and I are visiting Fort Meyers from Jersey and decided to try this Latin Restaurant. We definitely enjoyed our early dinner here. My son and friend loved the fried pork, black bean and tostones and I enjoyed the mofongo with shrimp in garlic sauce. The music and place is very festive. I would suggest Chinaware and regular silverware rather than foam plates and plastic utensils.

On October 12, 2020 I came to this place I order five 5 alcapurrias, 1 mofongo, 1 CUBAN SANDWICH and two kids meals. Alcapurrias were nasty they didn’t let them sit for a few so they would drain the excess oil making them soggy and greasy. the meat inside tasted a little bit sour meaning that it was probably beginning to go bad or it had been in the freezer for too long CUBAN SANDWICH was not pressed it was cold and bread hard. Kids meal fries and nuggets were fried in old oil they look dark and greasy. They didn’t eat The mofongo was hmm ok We spend over 65.00 and no one ate NEVER AGAIN!!

(Translated by Google) The restaurant was well cleaned and the owner always cleaning and picking up. But the truth is the first time that I go to a restaurant and I have the service that I had today. First of all, they take too long to help you. Food has no flavor. They serve you with cutlery and disposable plates. I wanted to eat a triplet and I couldn't because they didn't have bread. I ordered an appetizer and it was brought to me along with the food. Super small the portions. And worst of all, when I asked for the bill, I waited more than 15 minutes to pay. However, I had to ask for the bill more than once. Too much promotion on the radio. The truth is not worth going to eat there (Original) El restaurante tenía buena limpieza y el dueño siempre limpiando y recogiendo.
