We stayed here on the 20/08/16 . We can not fault the staff as they are friend and can not do enough for you. Room clean and tidy. Breakfast was lovely and lots of variety to choose from. The price was brilliant . If your expecting the Ritz then go to the Ritz. It is what is is but at 44 quid with breakfast it great value for your money. Location is fantastic and i would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank for a great stay :-)

The shower is cramped. No extractor fans in bathroom. No mats on bathroom floor. The toilet door sticks, locking you in. The accommodation was advertised as a suite for 3, but it is nothing more than an ordinary room, with 4 beds. The television remote did not work. Breakfast was poor

If I could give this 'hotel' zero stars, I would. 1) We had to pay upon arrival - I've never had to do this before, and found it a bit surprising. 2) The desk clerk was extremely anxious and unorganised - couldn't understand our amended booking (originally booked four rooms, reduced to two well before our booking date), and was incredibly distracted on arrival. 3) We were asked to inspect our rooms - I found that the toilet had been used and wasn't clean. 4) The rooms are stark and depressing. The only positive thing I could see was that the bed linens appeared to be clean... or so I thought. 5) There were crack pipe burns all over the side table. 6) There were no lights but the overhead light. 7) There was a *lot* of noise in the hallways until quite late at night. 8) I felt very unsafe there. So, I put a chair under the door handle so that the door handle couldn't be turned. I am very glad I did - at about 10.30 at night, someone tried to get into my room. Yes, the door was locked, but this was still very unsettling. I could hear this person try most of the door handles along the rest of the hallway. 9) I didn't even try the breakfast. After a sleepless night in this dive-of-a-hotel, why on earth would I? I entirely expected food poisoning. 10) Upon returning home, I have discovered four enormous insect bite welts on my leg. God forbid they're bed bug bites - I didn't see any evidence of them (and trust me, I looked) - but they're uncomfortable, itchy welts. *Not* knowing what sort of bites they are is almost worse... 11) The only reason I *stayed* here was because, after looking at several other hotels, who were either booked up or far too expensive, I was left with my only option to stay at the Leicester City Hotel. I'm completely astonished that this place hasn't been shut down. Do not stay at this hotel.

Worst place I have ever stayed. To start got to the small room with my friend and there was only 2 pillows in the room. When I went down stairs to ask for another the manager said there no more pillows in the hotel. Second the raditior in the room couldn't turn off so it was boiling in the room when it was 20 degrees outside. Went to get in the shower and that was even broken in the world's smallest bathroom. Then in the morning went down to the included breakfast what was toast or corn flakes and the bread had mould on it. So won't be staying here again any time soon. Plus no parking either. Staff just didn't care about me.

The room we stayed in was like a covered the linen was dirty and there was no working power sockets the staff downstairs were not interested in in my request for a larger room with hot water for the shower which only delivered cold water and was only a dribble. I asked about breakfast and they said yes breakfast is included English breakfast but it wasn't it was just toast and tea I went to Wetherspoons for breakfast which was a lot better and was only a short walk away overall on my visit I was very disappointed in this hotel I am hopeful that since then it has improved as it has potential to be a great hotel it's a big hotel I might visit it was very disappointing parking is available at the front of the property and it's in the heart of London Road lots of shops and bars and restaurants nearby

Well it is evident that this place has seen better days. However, there are a lot of near hysterical reviews about this place so despite my 2 star rating, keep in mind what you want from your stay. A grand old building, this could be so much more and hopefully it may, one day, be returned to its former glory. At the moment, however, there is a sense that it is ticking along but hasn't got long left to live. Those manning the reception were amazing. Polite, helpful and happy. There are a few stairs but to any normal human, they won't pose a problem. If you are in a wheelchair... Best not stay here. Our room was clean, fresh sheets and had no odour (though I must admit the hallway outside had a strange smell about it). The carpet had seen better days, mind you. Walls had been damaged, plastered in but not been sanded or painted over to hide the original hole/dent. A small TV was propped up against a wall, no use to anyone, and could have done with a little work to pop it up on a bracket. A white curtain covered the window and was fairly ineffective at blocking the light though a t-shirt draped over ones eyes did the trick! Beds are soft but comfortable. Tea and coffee were there, WiFi was free and easy to connect to. Overall, a nice room but I just feel that a little work, a little bit of pride, a little bit of modern decor would have really elevated the place and it need not be heavy investment! Bathroom was clean and ensuite which was a lovely surprise as I thought it was shared! The shower was a bit disappointing as it (the basin bit in which you stand) would fill up after a few second with the shower on. I must admit that standing in ones own dirty water makes my stomach turn, but if you think about it, it's not unlike a bath! Again, it wouldn't take much to sort these little things out. Overall, myself and my friends had a good night sleep in a venue that was close to the centre (a mile) and offered us everything we needed for very little cash. I paid 70 squid for three of us. If you're planning on spending very little time in your room, because you're out drinking or sight seeing then this place, for the money is great. If you're looking for a place to spend lots of downtime in, or reunite yourself with a loved partner (cough cough) then probably best to go elsewhere.

Room was OK but sauna level hot with no way to turn the heating down. Window only opened a fraction so not helpful. Toilet/shower was tiny, dated, and barely usable. Paid £20 extra to check out 2 hours after the usual check out time, only to have my door knocked on by the housekeeping at 10.55 telling me I needed to check out. I was then disturbed 10 minutes later for the same reason. Totally unimpressed. Checked out early so a complete waste of time paying extra. Definitely would not recommend this place or go there again!

Apart from it's location to the city centre and the price of the room, unfortunately it doesn't have a lot going for it. The architecture of the building is beautiful but barely any of the original fixtures remain and they have fitted very basic doors to every room which are dirty and have cheap non smoking signs fixed to the front. The bed had clean crisp white sheets but the springs were totally collapsed on one side of the double we booked, the window is single glazed with a gap so very cold overnight and the radiator on max was not enough to compensate. Overall the quality was very low but the price and the location (almost) made it not matter.

The staff is very nice and helpful but the management really needs to refurbish the place. One of the matresses was pretty old and super uncomfortable; parts of the ceiling gypsum are tearing down, must have been caused by a water leakage or something; the hot water is not always turned on, you have to inform the staff beforehand that you're planning to have a shower; some of the internal doors need to be fixed as they bang and make loud sounds, particularly during the night; you also have to ask the staff for extra toilet rolls and soap.

My stay was rly rly bad even tho it was a bit back but I had nowhere to go and me and my parents and 3 siblings stayed there and there was loads of bed bugs and a bed was broken in the room we where in and dirty sheets. I’m quite shocked it is still in use and I’m very shocked abt some of the reviews abt how gd they are but I wouldn’t recommend staying there. And also the bathroom was small and the light didn’t work and the mirror was smashed and it was a small bathroom. The door didn’t really shut and the windows where really discusting and the food wasn’t great. It was like an abandoned house that people lived in and rented out for people. Just wouldn’t recommend staying there.
