Marvellous micropub. Lots of crazy stuff on the walls, clean toilets, great beer, nice bar staff, friendly locals. What more can you ask for? It's tiny and was heaving on a Wednesday afternoon. Seems to have run off the local BrewDog. Good!

The best of all pubs visited this year, apart from mine own. (Sorry PP!) Stunning house Red Ale by Bang the Elephant. Great array of real beer and draft and in bottles. Really good on ciders. Monster made in house cheddar and raw onion baps. Fascinating clientele. Standing room only in a Friday lunchtime. Good gents. No musak. Terrific barkeep handling the whole damn show on her own. Everywhere else just pales in comparison. And is it true the landlord painted the white boar pub sign blue in late 1485? Whyever would he want to go anddo that? Just go!!

What a great real ale pub. Great tasty selection of ales and good food. Everyone friendly even though I came from outside the county. Thank you Cheers!

Excellent Leicester micropub. Ten cask beers on handpump when I last visited including two stouts, a porter and a mild.

An excellent pub, with a great selection of beers, which are served to a consistent quality, nicely decorated with polished pine flooring, and complemented by metal barrel seating. Filled rolls are served at the bar. 9 ales are on offer.

A must for any cask ale fan. Friendly barman, excellent quality cask ales. Something to suit everyone, or to have one of each. Some are served directly from the cask too. Bar snacks such as Black Country pork scratchings are served, however the Cobs here are something else - massive crusty white cob with a thick wedge of quality cheddar and another thick onion slice on top. Really good and for £2.50 that's excellent! The beer keg urinals are a novel feature and their toilet is twinned with one in Malowi for charity, see photo. Will certainly return.

Probably one of the oldest pubs in Leicester. Staff is very friendly. There are great options of cask and nitro ales, and ciders. Small place but good atmosphere.

Brilliant pud in centre of Leicester, great selection of beers ciders ect. But the best thing of all is the food, nothing fancy or posh just massive filled cobs, pork pies, cheese boards with pickles etc. If in town and feeling hungry ' it's a must.

Great little real ale pub in the city centre. A good selection of ales from breweries across the UK and some nice specialist ales. Friendly service and reasonable prices given its city centre location. I'd definitely recommend.

The Blue boar dark ale was so good! And for £2.90 a pint, unbeatable. The cheese and onion cobs are enormous! It came with basically a slab of cheese, just the trick to soak up the beer. Would definitely visit here again when in Leicester for some quality real ale. 👍

An oasis of calm in the middle of Saturday night madness. When every other pub looked and sounded like a nightclub, the Blue Boar served great beers to those who appreciate them, and the atmosphere consisted of a hubbub of people chatting, and hardly phone in sight. Wonderfull.

Always an excellent choice of great real ales. The cheese and onion or ham cobs ( if you are not from Leicester, think baps, balm cakes, bread cakes, or round bread rolls 😂 ) are outstanding in terms of quality and quantity 🙂👍). The bar staff are also always very helpful, knowledgable and friendly. A great pub that never dissapoints 👍

Truely awesome proper pub, selling many different ales & ciders full of friendly locals. When I visited there was a staff member who worked behind t bar who particularly kind, she gave my children some home made flap jacks to eat foc. Whilst this pub doesn't really appear to be pub suitable for children (I was pushing my luck having them with me) we were made to feel most welcome. I really liked this place and will be back!

Visited just a few times but definitely a pub to go to if in the area. Super welcoming staff, great selection of beers and friendly customers happy to socialise if travelling solo which I usually do. The fresh cobs are full of loveliness.

I love this little pub. There is always an amazing selection of beers and cider as well as other drinks to choose from. It's very welcoming and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The clientele are a little on the older side not that that makes any difference at all. As for the food, I've only sampled the cheese and onion cob which is a bargain. You get the largest chunk of cheese imaginable and onion to match. It's my favourite Leicester City pub.

The Blue Boar is a welcoming real ale pub. If you want a Carling go else where but this place will serve a variety of lovely real ales with a fantastic welcoming service. We highly recommend it, just wish they would play a little music in the background. We will return though

Not much more to say other than you're crazy if you haven't been here yet! Fantastic owner and great staff...but the stout is what makes it for me...oh and the cheese brick cobs...de-fooking-licious!! There is always something new to try but also the staple offerings if you're not feeling adventurous. It's a MUST pit stop if you're in Leicester!

The Blue Boar is a traditional public house with a modern twist. Excellent selection of beers and stouts on tap. They have a selection stion of sandwiches and pork pies on the counter, which I havent see in years. The Blue Boar is historical, cosy and easy to find.

Great range of beers, including non alcoholic cans. The cheese and onion cobs are something to be witnessed for sure.

Great selection of beers and a really cool concept where the cold room for the bar is behind a glass door. When you ask for a beer the bar staff can pour straight from the keg and you can watch them do so! I thought it was really cool!

One of the places i attend before the rugby. The Blue Boar gets busy early. If you want a seat please get there early. The Cobs are recommended.

What a great place to drink! If you love lots of new guest ales (Cask & Nitro) you can't go wrong... And the cheese & onion cob, that's your lunch sorted then....
