We came for roast dinner. I asked the bartender if I could walk round to see the spirits quickly and she rolled her eyes at me. The single cherry JJ Whitley gin and tonic was £7.20 when the full bottle from the shop is £16. The roast dinner had stuff missing and they never told us before serving it. They claimed they put more of other things on the plate but I had 2 small roast potatoes. The greens were undercooked and hard to eat. The same bartender was eating next to us and was yelling at the man opposite, yelling and swearing at the staff when they knew she had an allergy and asked if she wanted the red cabbage and it was so uncomfortable. We paid and left. Waste of money. I’ll never go again. A shame because the other staff were lovely and she didn’t represent them at all.

Having lived in Leicestershire for many years and never trying this pub before; we thought we would try their Sunday lunch and was sadly disappointed. Whilst we couldn't fault the staff who were attentive, the food was sadly lacking. The lamb shank was gristly, the parsnips raw, roast potatoes soggy, and the general temperature of the food tepid. The meal for two of us, plus 2 drinks came to £55; which for the quality of the food was steep. The pub itself was nice enough, but we will not be returning for food.

Leicester's oldest pub, an Island bar serves several small drinking areas, 5 ales available, mostly from the local Everard's brewery. Missed 5 stars as payments are card only.

Nice old pub, friendly staff, quaint, nice fire, lots of outdoor seating and would recommend for a drink. Low score on account of average Sunday 2 course lunch at £21.50 which had veg and a few roast potatoes cubes with it. When I queried it a very nice young waiter explained that was portion and without bring asked brought more roast potatoe cubes which was good of him. I think management needs to review what a traditional Sunday lunch is as leaving themselves down over it

Cosy, oldish-looking pub. Friendly staff and relaxed, 'villagey' atmosphere in the centre of Leicester. Stone floors and lots of warm wood give it character.

Considered my 'local' away from home (Newark-on-Trent), mainly due to my Brother's season ticket (this prescribes he MUST attend >15 x per year 😉) and as I'm a Tigers season ticket holder I must help him in his task. Beer is excellent, Food is excellent (Bro says bring back the pork belly please) Service is, not only but also, excellent 👌 👍 👏. Highly recommended, not that it needs it. Well done all, and PLEASE keep it going.

Found this on the off chance, while looking for somewhere to have meal. I wasn't disappointed, the food was fantastic, all local produce and freshly cooked, the portions were just the right. The belly pork was so soft and melted in your mouth, brandy and Stilton mushrooms, were lush and the strawberry and prosecco cheesecake was so light and fluffy. Lovely friendly and welcoming atmosphere, all the staff were very attentive and friendly, especially the lady who we believed was the landlady. I can't recommend this place highly enough, you need to visit.

Great traditional old city pub serving good value food and great real ale (and other beers, wine etc.....oh and a Bloody Mary! ). Been once before but this was a Saturday lunchtime on the day if a home Tigers match ..... so it got busy but the atmosphere was great. We hadn't booked a table but we're early getting there (before 12). If you are going for food I'd advise booking a table. Staff were very friendly and really helpful. Liked it so much before the game we went back after!

Been drinking here for 15+ years, many great memories. Still one of the best pubs in Leicester, great ales! I have not tried the food so can't comment, but am sure it will be as good as the beer. Layla and the team are very friendly.

Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff and delicious food! Fantastic range of Vegan items also, including dessert and a great drink selection! A lovely gentleman was working upstaira last night (20/11/21) - so sorry, we didn't catch your name! He had a few other servers working with him, but on some occasions was working single handedly behind the bar, taking orders, serving drinks AND serving food and was so lovely, informative and friendly throughout our visit! Thanks so much for giving us a great dining experience!

Nice little pub it was surprisingly empty for a friday so we managed to get a table but the drinks are on the higher end £10 for a double gin and tonic I didn't see a menu anywhere i would have liked to check the prices before buying

My association with the Globe began with the dig for Richard in 2014. I attended the reinterment and I have returned every year sometimes twice. I discovered the Globe that year and always eat there when I am in town. The local Everards beer is on a par with Sheppard Neme as one of the best and the food is superb. I always compliment the chef with whatever he comes up with. Pubs like this should be treasured, always.

Great place for a pint after shopping and walking to you drop. Rumor has it that there's a ghost. That didn't deter as long as it didn't drink my pint. Great friendly girl behind the bar who was chatty and amenable. As I've been before it's quite consistent.

We performed in their function room on 17.02.23 as part of the Leicester Comedy Festival. Great support from the staff, thanks to Layla! Good size room with a great festival atmosphere!

Very pretty pub, good choice of Sunday roast options - chicken, beef, pork belly or vegetarian. We’ve tried beef and chicken - it was alright. Chicken was a bit dry. I’ve had better before, but also not too bad.

Karl and I had our after wedding dinners in the room upstairs. The food was perfect and all our 25 guests enjoyed it immensely. It was my 60th Birthday. The staff were very friendly, and worked hard to get us all eating together. We recommend booking this for a dinner party, for birthdays, anniversaries, and after wedding dinner, especially people getting married at The Leicester Register Office like we did.

Haven't tried the food yet but really do plan to. Great pub venue to visit for a drink with fast friendly service. Great outside seating area and lots of little nooks to tuck yourself away in inside. 100% worth a visit !

Good pub to pop in on the way to night out, or stay and enjoy a few pints. No complaints I'll go again.

We called in here by chance before going to a show. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we stepped up to the bar. The choice of drinks on the pumps was extensive and the ones we chose were lovely, we were offered tasters but declined. We then decided to eat here as well and we weren't disappointed. The food was obviously home cooked and was absolutely delicious. Would give this place more stars if it was possible!
