Groupon burger and drink for 2... what a surprise, one of the best burger I’ve had so far with this price. We have been here twice and really enjoyed the burger. We went during lunch time and not that just. If you like strong pub smells you will like this place, hence I gave 4 stars

Nice pub in Leicester city centre. Has a wide selection of beers, cocktails and mocktails. Also has small food menu. Has many seats in differents styles, even a sofa section with a fully functional GameCube connected to TV. Medium price. Ideal to go with friends. Opens until very late. Had s little garden behind for smokers. There is a another space upstairs for parties, concerts and clubbing. Located in the historic gas offices from Leicester.

Quiet place at 15:00 on a Friday but that meant we were served quickly. Service was very good and drinks were served at the table. You can see in the photos that the gents are not a very nice place to have to use. Looked like they had not really given it much thought. The sinks look particularly grotty. Food was delicious and so was the wheat beer I had. So definitely a place I will return but will hope they read this and hope they have redecorated the loos by the time I do!

Me and my friend had an amazing time at this hangout, feeling welcomed from the large entrance and the lovely area upon entry. We went clubbing upstairs to absolutely banging tunes, lights flashing different colours and many nice people with us!

Great bar and music venue. Good selection of beers at reasonable prices and a great food menu. They have some interesting bands playing upstairs. Friendly staff with a good service.

I've done my fair share of drinking in Firebug over the years but popped in for a nice pint of Staropramen while my son was at an Escape room. Wasn't too busy and the chap behind the bar was friendly. There was a previous review that said the toilets were terrible, so I purposely took a pic of the gents to show it's fine (I can't comment on the ladies toilet). I mean, I wouldn't eat my dinner in there, but I wouldn't eat my dinner in my own toilet either.

I flew from California to join my Belgium mate at Morningside Arena for the dart tournament. The guy in the middle, Matt, suggested we should continue the party at Firebug. I must say, we had a great time at your club. Great cocktails and great atmosphere. Cheers!

Such a great find. We visited Leicester for about a week and ended up spending most evenings in the beer garden here. It was really peaceful and the food was great. The vibe of the place was also really welcoming and so were the staff.

This is an incredible Leicester institution built from a Victorian gas works office, and its a cornerstone of the city's nightlife. It's notable for staying open later than most pubs in the city, and hosts great concerts and comedy shows upstairs. Check out the garden in the back and the old-time arcade games. In the city centre, Firebug is more of an night-out kind of place rather than a neighbourhood local. Some good beers are sometimes on tap, but in my opinion Firebug's strengths are in spirits and cocktails

Draught, spirits, cocktails, food and even cigarettes if you want! This bar doesn't have a particular style so all manner of people would have fun here. More "pub" than "club", you'd be able to talk to your friends or order a drink without screaming over a speaker system. There are speciality nights such as pub quizz, live music and discos so check which night does what. COVID Update: Firebug have outfitted more tables in front of the bar and table service has been implemented. Make sure you wear a mask and book a table before you turn up. Smoking area is still available but only go out in no more than pairs and don't crowd the middle of the area.

Didn't get a chance to try their food. But the atmosphere is great for late night drinks. Love the wall art and the fun nerdy vide. Something a bit unique!

They have a variety of alcohol and large menu which is very good . however, the place is absolutely filthy . Bartenders are quick and very friendly . The upstairs area is dirty and smells bad and not just that the floors look like they haven’t been cleaned properly . Hygiene is not the best in this place , the atmosphere is very dark . If I had a friend that visited Leicester , I would definitely not take him there .

A bit average. Drinks are wayyyyy too overpriced. Decent size but furniture is pretty haggard and awkward. Decent outside area. Doorstaff are a bit unapproachable but that's fair enough I guess. They have game consoles which are fun, but most of the controllers are knackered. If they spent a bit extra on them it would be great. They certainly get enough business to warrant it that's for sure. Pool table upstairs but it's a bit cramped. Playlist is very samey and repetitive but again it's not a huge deal.

Had a lovely after dinner experience here with husband and young adult children. Loved the heavy rock vibes coming from live band upstairs and managed to kick butt twice playing Tecken in the comfy mini lounge areas. Would definitely be willing to travel by train from Derby again for a night out here.

Nice atmosphere if you want a late night drink with friends without going to a club. Unfortunately the beer isn't kept well and this results in me, and others, often going to bottles. They do however have a large selection of cocktails.

A decent place right in the heart of Leicester city centre. Has a lot of happening bands play upstairs in the 120 capacity gig room. Even bigger bands like The Wedding Present, Dogs D'amour & Primitives have graced the stage recently. Service is usually pretty good in the downstairs bar. There's a good choice of drinks & cocktails but at nightclub prices. Parking is very limited due to its proximity. Well worth a visit.

Great service, and the social distancing measures in place are great! The bar also looks fantastic after all the love that's gone into It during lockdown!

  • 5/5 Dionne M. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome venue for live music - especially for the rock/alternative scene. Highly recommend. I always have a good night when I go there. Nice variety of drinks, food is good and the staff are great. Plus, there's always security on the door during the busier times of the week so you always feel safe. In fact, the last time I visited Firebug, I made the doorman aware of a situation and the dealt with it perfectly, ensuring everyone was safe.

Always have a lovely time here. There's nights for everything you could want. The food is really nice. They have comfy seats. The cocktails are nice. Definitely one of my favourite bars in Leicester. And the staff are lovely!

The atmosphere here is beautiful, the range of drinks including their own quicktails, ice teas, shots and more are amazing. Seating downstairs, upstairs and in the garden area is great, the staff are friendly and make the experience even better and to top it all off the music is just great!!! I would definitely recommend this place as a night out with some friends. The upstairs hosts club nights sometimes as well I've heard and is really cozy , has a stage for karaoke and a lounge type area. All in all a great bar that I go to often when I'm in Leicester.

Been going here for years and seen shows hosted on the first floor. Drinks are always good with limited edition specials with well done board styles and names. Friendly staff and inclusive to everyone. Food is served during the day and is dog friendly too.

Good selection of beers, cocktails and other drinks. But the main attraction is the old stool table games or video games, the live music or comedy nights !! Open till 4am most nights it's always a great place for afters.

Went to my first live music since the first lockdown. The venue set up and staff were great and it felt very safe from a covid point of view. Easy to order drinks and fast table service. Will definitely keep an eye out for more gigs here in the future

  • 5/5 Craig L. 3 years ago on Google
Very nice location & great to be at a live gig. The only downside was a very rude & abrupt doorman. Telling (Not asking) you to leave @ 9.40pm.

  • 2/5 AdamVox 1 year ago on Google
Friendly service, but absolutely abysmal boring cocktails £13 for two Yeah would never go back if you paid me 😔 But when the staff are measuring 1 measure of Spirits for two cocktails you know something is up Edit : cocktails were the botanist ones

An OK bar with some retro games consoles that does a few cocktails, no interesting beers or ales at all sadly (and even my Shipyard IPA didn't taste right). But a great room upstairs which is one of the better venues for the Leicester Comedy Festival.

A very nice venue for the comedy festival we saw Mark Watson he was extremely good.

  • 5/5 Allen S. 2 years ago on Google
Apart from the floor being slightly sticky (typical of most pubs), the atmosphere is brilliant and the drinks are decently priced. Definitely a must-try.

  • 4/5 Ben T. 1 year ago on Google
Genuinely not bad, sticky floors, a bit run down and a lot of broken glass and what appears to be clutter so looked a bit tired but good all the same. All tvs set up with game consoles and seemed really interactive. Genuinely nice little place, and we had a good time on the night. pricing of certain drinks could be better but otherwise happy with the place =)

Tried here with work pals as we were in area working. Having dined elsewhere upon arrival at approx 2200 Wed 16th Sep we ordered two Moretti and two Red Stripe and sat down near the door we had entered just to the left of the door if looking from the bar (the position in which we sat will become relevant later) A couple of times we popped out to the garden to smoke but returned to the same table as a member of our group remained throughout. Having finished our drinks I approached the barmaid (dark haired lass) and asked for three more pints as one of our initial group had departed, to my astonishment I was told no as she did not want to serve the three of us because she "did not like the way we had been looking at a member of staff on the floor" it is important at this point to mention the fact NONE of us were drunk. I did ask what it was we had allegedly done but was told again that I would not be served I shook my head went and told the others and we left. The owner(s) may well have CCTV footage available (perhaps they could view the footage to check the validity of my account of events??) hence I was particular earlier in this review as to where in the establishment we were sat. It had been our intention to spend quite a while and no doubt quite a bit of money in here, we were surprised following the dire position Leicester businesses due to the pandemic have been in recently and are now in that valuable income can be lost so easily. We still have no idea what it was we did to warrant such a nonsensical reaction from the barmaid??? Despite evidence of Owner(s) replying to other reviews here it seems a little odd that I have not been afforded a reply???!!!!!!

Great atmosphere. Bar staff friendly, always open to questions and to recommend drinks to your liking. Skillful at what they do in particular Matt, absolute artist demonstrated by making mint choc chip drink to perfection. A pleasure to watch and delicious to say the least. Keep up the good work guys

This is one of the only places in Leicester that's open every night until 4am that offers something for everyone. They have comfortable sofas, gaming areas, an outdoor bit for smoking/ socialising, and a club upstairs that play different music genres across different days. Cocktails are reasonable, 2 for 10 on some nights. Choice of beer could be better and is fairly expensive but not ridiculous. Bit dark and dingy, but then that's probably what they're going for to an extent. Also host record events. Always a decent atmosphere.

I've been to "The Half Drunk Club" at this venue twice now and will be going again and again and again. The food, especially the breakfasts and the burgers are great, (honourable mention to the sweet potaato fries) the atmosphere is very casual and friendly and the venue upstairs is perfect for the style.

came out for a night out with colleagues and it just felt so cozy and warm. maybe i was quite drunk so maybe that has something to do with it😂. food was alright if you want a bit of food while drinking and socialising, the drinks were not too expensive and very tasty. service was fast and friendly and atmosphere was amazing. will be coming back again soon.

Always open late if you want a quieter atmosphere than a night club. Good selection beers, ciders and ales. Staff always seem friendly. All in all a good place to go for a drink when other places start to close.

Not too bad and the a&e shots are great before a night out. The staff are always really friendly and always happy to help. To improve I'd probably see that the cleanliness of toilets needs to be maintained and the general cleanliness of the bar.

My favourite bar in Leicester, always has been and I cant see that changing. It's getting a bit worse for wear over time, but when you've got as many satisfied punters as they do, it's understandable.

  • 3/5 Richard T. 4 years ago on Google
What a cooky venue, half pub, half comedy bar style place. A bit longer than wide which makes it fun if you're in the first few rows, this place also has decent food choices although it seems fairly pricey for what it has to offer.

Firebug is a great alternative bar in Leicester hosting a wide range of spirits/beers etc and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Upstairs there is a small music/events venue and a further bar area.
