Quite splendid traditional pub in the centre of Leicester that offers a great range of cask ales (a dozen taps or more) at moderate prices. The pub is nicely decorated and comfy, and there's a small outside seating area in the back that even has its own TV. Nice community atmosphere, friendly and competent service. All round one of the best traditional pub options in the city.

A quality real ale pub with that local village pub vibe but nestled in the middle of the city, complete with a "interesting" bunch of local regulars. A very warming welcoming pub, there's always a great selection of ale and the staff look after there lines and will never pull you a bad pint. +UK pub cat of the year, go and say hello to "chairman meow"

Very good Leicester pub. 12 cask beers on handpump when I last visited including a stout and a mild. Lots of outdoor seating some of it covered.

Up at 5 and a 5-hour train trip to Leicester to watch "The Argyle " in Leicester today!! Really nice pub, plenty of real ales. And very good service. Met up with the "Midland cronies" and I had a couple of Black Horse Christmas ales, which were excellent. Could have done without the full Christmas music, though !! But hey ho I am a Grinch!!! We got stuffed, but who cares 🤔 😁. Still a cracking day out and we get to go back to sunny Plymouth 🌞

Popped in to see an old friend, a really nice pub, a friendly landlord, and a great selection of beers. A great pub for a drink. Gets very busy when the Tigers play.

What a great real ale traditional pub. Friendly locals that were happy to talk to us and Paul the landlord, very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Decent pub, friendly staff. Very, extremely busy on match days! A bit too busy for me, but the other people I was with loved it. Cheese and onion 'tiger' cobs are also worth mentioning!

Plenty of real ale taps (that's the important bit!) and a nice characterful interior. Part of the extensive Black Country group of pubs (45?). As 'chains' go, well above average!

Lovely pub, warm and friendly. Has a fireplace, good selection of real ales, and a few specialty ciders and porters.

This WAS a pub that I really enjoyed visiting, until tonight. I was attending with my usual group of friends for the pub quiz, when I overheard a member of staff talking negatively about me. Note: I am a recovering alcoholic, and there are times when I relapse. The first time that I attended the quiz, I was relapsing, so I was rather drunk. Thankfully, my friends know of my recovery, and took care of me. Since then, I have had no issue. A member of the bar team, a brunette girl, was loudly complaining about me. She said that I "come in all the time and get sloshed, then have people take care of me." Two other members of staff agreed with her, and encouraged her rant, all whilst I was sitting barely a meter away, overhearing it all. When I confronted them, they shut their lips, and later gaslight me to try and make themselves look innocent. As a Bartender myself, I would never speak so ill of a guest, let alone in front of them. If I notice that someone drinks heavily, or is generally struggling, I reach out to them. The fact that this girl dragged me down speaks highly of her character, along with the two other members of staff who encouraged her 'rant.' I left the venue in tears tonight. I haven't spent a year in recovery to be dragged by a child without a lick of empathy in her. Better yet, why did those two boys allow it? And then try to convince me that they "weren't involved"? Embarrassing. Definitely won't be returning, despite the fact that I enjoy the venue, and the quiz. I no longer feel welcome here. The 'sloshed girl' will take herself elsewhere, hopefully somewhere that understands recovery, and has sympathy for those with former addiction.

Great pub, great beer; wish we had more pubs like this. As for those that comment about the punters in cobwebs, head into the centre.

We discovered this gem of a pub while walking around the centre of Leicester trying to find a decent pint. Excellent choice of beer, friendly and helpful staff. This is now our "go to" place whenever we visit Leicester. 100% recommended.

Recently started frequenting this establishment and have been pleasantly surprised , there is a very welcoming atmosphere with good beers and ciders ,music played a volume suitable for having a conversation without having to shout a great cross between a local and town pub

Friendly staff & great samosas! Perfect for getting together - heated smoking area under cover available too which is great in the winter but even better in the summer!

As pubs go, this one is as close to faultless as you can find in Leicester.

Another Black country ales pub that struggles to justify having the volume of ales on the bar, quality suffers as a result, stuffy bar area, outside is for smokers, and is grim, decent food in the form of rolls etc are served at the bar. Get very busy when Leicester Tigers have home fixtures.
