This
WAS
a
pub
that
I
really
enjoyed
visiting,
until
tonight.
I
was
attending
with
my
usual
group
of
friends
for
the
pub
quiz,
when
I
overheard
a
member
of
staff
talking
negatively
about
me.
Note:
I
am
a
recovering
alcoholic,
and
there
are
times
when
I
relapse.
The
first
time
that
I
attended
the
quiz,
I
was
relapsing,
so
I
was
rather
drunk.
Thankfully,
my
friends
know
of
my
recovery,
and
took
care
of
me.
Since
then,
I
have
had
no
issue.
A
member
of
the
bar
team,
a
brunette
girl,
was
loudly
complaining
about
me.
She
said
that
I
"come
in
all
the
time
and
get
sloshed,
then
have
people
take
care
of
me."
Two
other
members
of
staff
agreed
with
her,
and
encouraged
her
rant,
all
whilst
I
was
sitting
barely
a
meter
away,
overhearing
it
all.
When
I
confronted
them,
they
shut
their
lips,
and
later
gaslight
me
to
try
and
make
themselves
look
innocent.
As
a
Bartender
myself,
I
would
never
speak
so
ill
of
a
guest,
let
alone
in
front
of
them.
If
I
notice
that
someone
drinks
heavily,
or
is
generally
struggling,
I
reach
out
to
them.
The
fact
that
this
girl
dragged
me
down
speaks
highly
of
her
character,
along
with
the
two
other
members
of
staff
who
encouraged
her
'rant.'
I
left
the
venue
in
tears
tonight.
I
haven't
spent
a
year
in
recovery
to
be
dragged
by
a
child
without
a
lick
of
empathy
in
her.
Better
yet,
why
did
those
two
boys
allow
it?
And
then
try
to
convince
me
that
they
"weren't
involved"?
Embarrassing.
Definitely
won't
be
returning,
despite
the
fact
that
I
enjoy
the
venue,
and
the
quiz.
I
no
longer
feel
welcome
here.
The
'sloshed
girl'
will
take
herself
elsewhere,
hopefully
somewhere
that
understands
recovery,
and
has
sympathy
for
those
with
former
addiction.
