Very nice pub. Cosy and warm environment. Incredible garden behind to spend your day having a meal or drinks and plenty of space to bring children to play. Average price. Kind staff.

Brilliant Everard's community pub, a ten min walk from Leicester rail station, a range of Everard's beers, plus several guest ales on the bar, large interior is complemented by a small drinking area facing the road, and a huge beer garden out the back, not to be missed.

This is an excellent pub with a good atmosphere and great food. We visited as a party of four when attending an evening event at De Montfort Hall. It’s incredible that easy walking distance from the hall. We chose tapas, which was available because it was “Tapas Wednesday”. You choose two, four or six items from the menu. We actually chose six per couple making three each! I don’t think I’d have thought of that 😂 The food was plentiful and delicious.

Oh what a find! While visiting our niece in Leicester we fancied a Sunday carvery so Holly suggested this pub as close to her student house and a place previously visited. We were pleased to find a car parking space and a table for 5 instantly. The carvery was awesome, generous and a great selection of meat. We chose lamb shank and beef which were excellent, veg and trimmings cooked to perfection and really cheap £12.50/15.00. Will certainly visit here again should we return to Leicester. If you love Halloween, you must visit as decorations are amazing!

A Leicester institution. Great pub with incredible garden at the back. Went for Sunday lunch and it was heaving. Lucky to get a table. Sunday menu is carvery, which was really nice and constantly replenished. You have a choice of large or small plates. I chose large and it was a lot of food. Would definitely recommend. Staff really friendly .

So, I went here for a Christmas work. Was extremely busy to be fair but a lovely atmosphere. Drinks were very nice, maybe a little expensive,😅 but I never go out, so probably the right price. My starters was the peri peri skewer cam either a little salad garnish and some red onion on the side and a small dish of peri peri dip. Was really nice. Initially, I thought the size was too small, which was just right. The main was turkey, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, carrots, green beans, new potatoes, stuffing, and due to a dairy allergy , I was given my own jug of gravy - which was delicious. Had cranberry sauce, too. Very nice. For pudding, I had the vegan ice cream in a brandy snap basket topped with slices of fresh strawberry. Lovely

Stopped in for a drink before going to De Montfort Hall to see a performance. We felt very welcome, a great choice of ales and ciders as well as bar snacks; a lovely atmosphere, friendly members of staff and lovely decorations for Christmas. Their food menu looked good and we plan on eating there next time we're in the area.

Went before Halloween & it's just WOW! Food fantastic, Staff so welcoming... this place is like nowhere else in Leicester. No wonder they win awards.

Really lovely pub food, we had fish and chips, also burgers and was delicious. All enjoyed our meals very much. Want to get deserts next time, they aren't featured on the main menu for some reason. Dog friendly which is Main reason we came, yet food was awesome. The car park is however a bit small, am not sure if there's more parking down local streets. Definately recommended for good food and nice atmosphere

This pub annually produces an amazing Halloween atmosphere and was well supported by a Halloween related supply of real ales. There was live music, with the band going to great lengths with impressive Halloween face painting! A great night!

Probably the best carvery in the world! Can’t fault it. Really good value too. Lovely pub with fantastic facilities and garden too. Staff really friendly and attentive. Well done all

Lovely pub nice food but when they decide they are going to close early it's like they don't appreciate the fact you have been drinking in there all night just can't wait to get rid of you don't even l Give you time to use the facility s without knocking at the door 😕

Would NOT recommend!!! Where do I start? Service - young lady, lovely with blonde hair plaited and worn up, polite and courteous. However, other lady, much older, (dark hair worn in a high pony tail) also serving at the same time to a customer behind me. Very arrogant. Kept pushing the lovely young lady serving me out of the way, consequently customer behind me recieved food before me. Next, the old lady (i use the term lady loosely who i can only assume was the landlady) was obnoxious to the enth degree. Whilst the lovely young lady was serving the plate for the eldest child (a 10yo) the landlady snatched the plate off the young server shouted at the young server, totally belittling her scooped the dinner away (which was ready for the child to take away) then scraped the food off the plate back into the serving dishes ready to then pesent to the next customer!! Who actually does that???? The food - cold, chicken dry and over cooked, roast potatoes, outer was burnt and unpleasant. Portion size was controlled - not permitted to plate own vegetables like in other carvery restaurants. General ambience - appalling. On arrival, all was well. However, a live band started (no indication prior to ordering was there any mention of a band). I have nothing against live music in an appropriate setting, not during a Mother's day Sunday lunch. Myself and 4 others lost the ability to continue our conversation because we simply couldn't hear ourselves. Both adults left with headaches. 2 out of the 3 children were crying because the noise was too much!! Then... the car park! OMG! Where do I start? Before we left, 3 other customers had to go back inside to complain because they were 100% blocked in. On return to my car, I was completely boxed in on all 4 sides. Who in their right minds thinks it's acceptable to do that??? Seriously!! Do other customers not give a damn about the owners of cars who have parked with due consideration?? To summarise. If you want a cold meal which is served by people who aren't courteous, noise levels so high conversation is impossible and to park your car in a car park you cannot leave... I thoroughly advise this as your place to go. We left with all of us dissatisfied and hungry. Thank goodness for Macdonnalds!!! The food we recieved was piping hot (ikr), served by staff that were full of smiles and polite. DO NOT GO TO THE OLD HORSE!!!!!!!!!

The staff were polite and attentive. The glass I was served was not suited to the drink—an otherwise clean and quiet venue with good facilities.

Nice old pub, lots of room, with a coffin as a table in one area 😆 lovely food and drinks. They do tapas Wednesdays. good prices, very friendly staff, great beer garden at the back with a play area for children, a court yard and front garden to sit in to. Some parking, but it can get a bit tight in there. Great place to stop before a show or after.

Large pub with lots of tables and seating. They have a wide range of drinks and a huge food menu. Portions are large, and the food was very tasty. Service was friendly and quick. Prices are very reasonable. This pub is very welcoming and we would go again.

Spent Sunday afternoon here sat outside. Had a great time sampling cider. Staff were friendly. We decided to sample the carvery later on. Great value! I went for lamb shank. I was asked if I wanted all the veg expecting to have a spoonful but got a ladle full! Declined new potatoes. Lamb fell off the bone. Couldn't eat all the veg, far too much but it was a lovely meal.

Wouldn't recommend chicken wings. They are cooked and then frozen. They pre heat it before serving. Chicken burger was really dry and had a nasty smell to the chicken. Smelt like it was left in a tub for a few days. Would never eat here again. Drinks were good and bar staff was lovely.

There were a lot of people in when I went, but I think there was an event on. Have been before and the food is good but I had a coffee this time (nice) Bit of a quirky place, but there's no reason to fault it when I've been in the past, so I would pop in again and have lunch with colleagues. Cheap n cheerful.

In Leicester for the weekend, ate at the Old Horse on Friday, Saturday and Sunday... and can't fault it! Warm welcome, great food, efficient service and reasonably priced. Menu also suits a meat eater/vegetarian combo. Would heartily recommend. 😁

Wonderful pub! We had a delicious pint each and watched the World fly by. The sunny day assisted tremendously and the company was brilliant. The flower pots are "creative" ashtrays for those of you who smoke! Old Mout Cider from Aotearoa is an acquired taste by we doubt if any of the money will filter down to the Maoris, that great people!

Went for the carvery, quite expensive but the choice and food were good so no complaints. Popular and dog friendly. Quirky as well, never seen a coffin used as a table.

A lovely warm friendly Pub, the staff were lovely too. Booked a table for 9 people on a Saturday Lunch to celebrate my Daughters Graduation, it was wonderful. The food was delicious, generous portions & we didn't have to wait long either. Also they have a great selection of real ales & reasonably priced. Altogether we had a wonderful time in a warm friendly pub with lovely staff, it was a great experiance, well done "The Old Horse"

A lovely pub with fun, eclectic decor throughout. Pub is a really good size with a large outdoor area. Real ales on tap and provide CAMRA discount. Good food with good portion sizes. Parking outside. Short walk from De Montfort Hall, we had a meal here before seeing a gig. Would definitely consider returning if in the area again.

I have been to this pub twice now and highly recommend it if you love real cider and good quality food. They always have a good range of proper ciders on. The Sunday dinner was amazing. On my list of favourite pubs in the East Midlands. I will be back soon

What a lovely pub. Really big with lots of different places to sit and if you want to sit outside there's a massive garden too. Great food and the Sunday roast looks great. A good seller with a good choice of beer lager wine and spirits and cocktails. They even do cobs, what more do you want.

It's a great place for a Sunday dinner me and my husband go there every Sunday because it's where we met 29 years ago. It's changed a bit over the years but only for the better. The food and drink is always spot on. Me and my husband love it there..

This pub is lovely. Fantastic garden. Great choice of real ciders and beers. Lovely atmosphere, and lots of different areas to sit in. The bar staff and landlady were really welcoming. We haven't eaten there yet, but the food looked amazing, and was so pleased to see a choice of filled cobs too! We have made this our new local!

Been going to the old horse on and off for years , me and my daughter went for food yesterday , really dissapointed I had the gammon steak , it was so tough I had to leave it, a big chunk of fresh pineapple which was uneatable the only good thing was the fried egg. This is the second time in the past couple of months we have eaten there and it hasn’t been that great . Such a shame as we have many memories of the pub , we made the decision last night we won’t be going back … We wasn’t able to complain as nobody even came to our table to ask how the food was , as they used to do

Needed a bit of food before heading to the theatre and found The Old Horse by chance after a Google search. Phoned and booked a table without any issues and when we arrived were greeted by friendly bar staff. Great Halloween decorations as well! The food was lovely - we had Broccoli and Cream Cheese bake and Steak and Ale pie. Clean plates all round! Looking forward to our next theatre trip to Leicester to come back again!

The best community pub you will ever be lucky enough to find. The beer is great, the community is great, and all of the staff are fantastic. I look forward to continuing to exasperate everybody there with my nonsense for many years to come. You will always find a friend at the Old Horse.
