good place to rest after a walk in bradgate park worth stopping for lunch and drinks as we did. Interesting menu, food was good and seasoned well. I like outdoor tables in the sun. service was quick and pub looked clean and refurbished.

First time visit to The Badger's Sett today after hearing lovely things about it and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and came out well presented. Our server, Tom, was very polite and welcoming and couldn't fault his service at all. Lovely decor as well, really nice country vibes. We will definitely be coming again.

Had an amazing meal on 6 May 2023. Jo gave us fantastic service and was was really lovely, taking photos for us for our birthday girl Beth. Dog friendly pub too so we also got some doggy snuggles in! Would definitely recommend x

This is a splendid little pub, nestled in the heart of the countryside. We frequent this establishment often and revel in its cosy and homely atmosphere, with the crackling log fires and the views across the field, towards the reservoir, providing a stunning setting. Every time we visit, we are struck by the genuine amiability and warmth of all the staff. There really is no length to which their magnanimity may not extend. It would be remiss of me to not also mention the kitchen team who consistently provide us with delightful and delicious food. Every dish is hot, flavoursome, and the beauty of the presentation, on every occasion, falls about my eyes like a heavenly effulgence! Every single individual involved with this charming little pub should be thoroughly proud of themselves—you are, all of you, marvellous human beings. I wish you all happiness, joy and prosperity for the coming year.

The lamb koftas were nice but mild on the spices. The sea bass was wholesome and well cooked. The gammon steak was also nicely cooked. The service is good but there is a lack of communication during busy times. Overall recommended for the good food and ambience.

This is a great looking pub which is also dog friendly. Appreciating it is Christmas we went on the 27th straight from a walk at Bradgate park. Straight from the off I found the first 2 staff members off hand. A polite question about where the dogs could sit was met with a sharp response. When trying to order a different lady disappeared never to return leaving me talking to a very polite young guy. Ordered a chicken Caesar salad and cheese and ham open sandwich. Both were cold when they arrived and burnt in the case of the toasted cheese sandwich. It tasted like the chicken had been cooked and left to go cold waiting for someone to serve it. I suspect they get lots of footfall so don’t worry too much about the odd customer.

If you want Banoffee pie come any other day but a Monday. Jake said to try the flower pot pudding and the chocolate ice cream took me by surprise not going to lie. the chips were nice and the staff were amazing, especially Jake who took very good care of us throughout.

Lovely place obviously very popular. The staff were very friendly, helpful and we really liked the decor and atmosphere. We went on a Sunday for a late lunch and the food was good nice portion size my only real gripe would be the roasted potatoes theses were more like boiled potatoes that has been rolled round in some fat for a short while, I alway think of roastise as having a lovely crunchy shell to them, these sadly didn't.... We did get there later in the afternoon but the last dish out of the kitchen should be as good as the first in my book. Ps lots of lovely gravy alway makes me happy!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Can’t say the same about food. My daughters burger bun was so dry and hard, beef patty didn’t even smell good. Vegetables on my plate were dried up already, mash was also dry and crusty on top. Pulled beef sandwich was literally just pulled beef in a toast with one pickled onion slice.

Our experience at The Badger’s Sett was excellent throughout, it is a lovely pub with a great feel! We were recommended the pub by our Airbnb host so arrived without a booking on a Friday evening, where we were greeted with a warm welcome before being served by Kim for the duration of our meal. Kim gave nothing short of exemplary service and was cheery, polite, informative and attentive, including providing fresh cutlery between starter and main. The food was delicious with good size portions and the speed of service was perfect for us. It seems some of the previous reviews have picked on some very trivial aspects but we honestly couldn’t fault the service at all, we were very impressed and would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Flies buzzing around probably took away from what was otherwise a enjoyable meal. Camembert was good but couldn't taste the honey glaze or truffle oil. Was nothing more or less than a camembert baked in a oven. One chicken pie was stuffed with chicken the other probably had two chunks in it. The carrots were the star of the show on both plates. Decor has clearly had a upgrade since we last visited on 2017 and is very tasteful. Sadly it was a good pub meal but not a great one that has you craving a return trip.

Lovely Staff very good service although the restaurant was very full, the staff were very attentive to the customers. The food was very good and again the staff made sure that you were happy and had all you required on the table for your meal such as sauces and extra gravy if you required any. Although I had travelled up from Southampton on the day, If ever I find myself in the area in the future I shall certainly pay the Badger's Set another visit. Mr Mark Robinson Happy Customer

Great choice in food and drinks, service was superb and atmosphere was lovely and cozy. Open fire, low lighting and tasteful decor. Will visit as often as possible, food was really tasty and good value. Close to Bradgate park and surrounding areas such as the resovoir and swithland woods as well as Ansty and Cropston.

Sunday Roast Review!! We had heard really great reviews for the Sunday roast here at Badger Sett - but disappointing unfortunately! Ordered the Sunday Trio, which consisted of beef, pork belly and turkey. (As seen in the picture attached) The beef was waaaay over cooked. Please note how the piece of pork belly is the size of my little finger (gutted because this was what I was most looking forward to! ‘Maple bacon crumb’ - not true, it was just standard dry pork belly with no crackling) and very dry turkey. Such a shame because it could have been great. The gravy was delicious, however you’re served with probably about 50ml so ordered another round for the table. We could have done with another round because it was probably the best part of the meal really.

Went 16.30 on a Sunday. Really busy and super atmosphere in the restaurant area. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Service was good, wait for food not too long. For starters we had calamari which was lovely, and mackerel pate which was also nice but overpowered by the horseradish cream. Mains were steak which my partner loved. I had pork belly roast which was mostly nice apart from the Brussels being completely cold and the 2 smaller pieces of pork I had were burnt underneath which was a shame. Disappointing as we have been here before and had no problems, but will still try again another Sunday.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. The beef was tender and the Yorkshire puddings delicious. Dessert was spectacular. Our server (Chris) was attentive and service was great. Would recommended and will definitely be back!

What a wonderful dining experience our party of 3 had at the Badgers Sett, yesterday, the 24th of January 2023, the restaurant itself is warm and inviting with wonderful decor and the staff were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us, especially Hannah! the food was delicious too. We will most definitely be recommending to family and friends, we will be back soon. Thank you to Hannah and Leah, for a fabulous day.

Fab food, great drinks and brilliant service. Hadn't booked a table but managed to get straight in, which was great for a Friday night. Plenty to choose from on the menu and didn't have to wait too long for anything. A special thanks to Jo for her great service and attention, we will definitely be back!

Such a lovely place to sit and eat near bradgate Park the outside seating area was fantastic. The food could have been more seasoned but was generally great i would recommend the bbq chicken skewer, the drinks were great the gin in particular and the bar staff were very knowledgeable. The staff and their customer service were amazing!

We had dinner with my husband as my birthday treat. No prior reservations but the team were amazing. Jo is a valuable asset to the team, her interpersonal skills are exceptional 👏 👌 🙌. Great tasting food and 2 for £12 classic cocktails. For the venue and ambience this us a dream. Thank you Badgers Sett for a fantastic birthday experience.

Really nice meal with friends. The restaurant has recently been refurbished and looks lovely. Looking forward to a drink in the garden on a summer's evening as it looked lovely all lit up. The menu seems to cover all tastes. Large drinks menu also covered all preferences. At the moment, signing up to the newsletter online gets you a complimentary pudding, so that was nice! The staff we friendly and helpful. Overall, really nice and we will be returning.

Do not eat here - Terrible Experience! I ate here today and ordered from the three course Christmas menu (prawn cocktail to start and turkey dinner for main). I kid you not the prawn cocktail had 4 PRAWNS! Then the main arrived - the Turkey was dry and the rest was overcooked. The roast potatoes so much so that I couldn't cut into them with the knife (I'm serious). I showed the waitress/manager and they agreed it needed to be changed. Two minutes later however she returned and said the chef was going to 'cook new roast potatoes from scratch but to carry on with the main'. No surprises that more than 25 minutes later and no new roast potatoes had arrived, despite me having the main in front of me. I highlighted this to the waitress when she cleared our plates but she just said 'I take it you won't need the new roast potatoes then'. The staff never asked if the food was okay during the meal (perhaps as lots of people were also sending food back). I highlighted the problems at the end only to be told by the waitress she was sorry but it's really busy at this time of year. Not a good enough response as I was asked to pay a full bill for very poor quality (overcooked and lacking) food. I will never go back and recommend you avoid the food there too. Over-priced awful food - avoid!
