To say I was surprised by the room considering the cheap price is and understatement. Granted my room couldn't be further away and took a bit of a hike with bad knees, it's so worth it. Check in was dome by whom I believe to be the manager/landlord was friendly and efficient. The way he speaks to the staff is worth the 5 stars alone. The staff that I met were pleasant and engaging. The bar is lovely. So much so I had to take a couple of pics. Which I never do. Great experience 👍🏻 👌 👏 🙌 😊

Family meal at lunch time . Pleasant decor and service. Not impressed with our chicken and ham pies which had very thick pastry and not much filling . Lucky to spot a whole piece of chicken. The gravy was so thick you couldn't pour it easily and not a genuine taste to go with the meal. I expect lots of bisto!

Located in quiet Kirby Muxloe, The Castle Hotel is a lovely place to stay that oozes character. The room I stayed in was comfortable, clean and had everything you would expect, although a few things were beginning to look a little tired. The staff were absolutely lovely and did everything they could to make my stay enjoyable. One point of note: the rooms are accessible by narrow stairs. If you're lugging a lot of luggage you might need help, similarly if you have mobility issues. The breakfast was first-rate. I recommend the Eggs Royale, though the vegan and full breakfast was good too. I'm hoping that their full refurbishment doesn't hike the rooms costs too much as I'd love to come back next year. :)

Amazing from beginning. Room amazing…… food brilliant….. customer service outstanding…… as a lone female travelling for work I was treated so well …. I have felt part of the atmosphere, safe and happy. I will definitely be back. Shout out to Steve who is just lovely 😇

Lovely food the meat just fell off the bone, delicious extra gravy and the food was hot when it came out not one of these barely warm offerings, reasonably priced as well, will be returning.

Had a lovely lunch. The tiger prawn starter was super yummy. The Steak and Ale pie was very good, rich gravy. The carved turkey festive lunch was also good. Big portions. Server was attentive and polite, it was a very busy lunch service. Will be back, even just for those tiger prawns!

Visited The Castle Inn as we had a Chef and Brewer gift card. And this was the closest to us. We walked in and the building was generally welcoming but somethings felt out of place, like mismatch furniture. Our waiter tried really hard, but there was such a thing as trying to hard. They just needed to relax a bit more. The food unfortunately was not very good in my opinion. The burger was tepid, barely warm and seriously lacked flavour. Definitely not worth £17. I only got an option of fries with it. My wife's steak was bland, thin as a wafer. With no flavour, and chips. All barely warm. Pudding was edible, but seemed to have no creativity to it. The cheesecake was lumpy, could barely taste the caramel and the caramel Sunday was a brown mess. Sorry for the bad review, but did not live up to the expectation

Bar staff great, this place could be an absolute top place if only they sorted a few basic things. Food needs to be kept warmer as always lukewarm...this is a big issue as lots people say this! Smoking outside the main front door is disgusting especially for a food place! Put a bloody smoking hut at side car park for this disgusting stinky habit. Remove the ashtrays and enforce these people to smoke further away!!!

Lovley fresh modern decor. We sat at the back of the restaurant, which was decorated in greys, gave me some ideas for home!! The food was fantastic. I had the garlic mushrooms for starters but shared half my starter with my mate who had the BBQ chicken bites, and they were also very nice. For my main, I had the steak sandwich. The mustard was a bit too strong, maybe a tad too much in there, but apart from that, my steak was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a nice experience and would come back again

Excellent food. Reasonable service. Disappointed that my two favourite beers Tribute and Abbott were unavailable that evening. Will definitely come again.

Lovely clean hotel and pub. Check in was very simple. Staff are really welcoming and accommodating. The food in the pub was really nice and not overly priced. The one negative for me was that the bed was too hard for my liking.

I stayed at the Castle Hotel as had a wedding close-by. Caroline and the team were extremely helpful with first class service. The room was very clean and extremely comfortable. An excellent breakfast too. I would highly recommend staying at the hotel if you are in the area.

A nicely renovated restaurant with a nice atmosphere. My food was lovely when it arrived, but we experienced terrible service. We were a party of four, we had booked in advance and the restaurant didn't appear to be that busy, however my main course order wasn't processed and therefore not prepared and brought out at the same time as everyone else in the party, but if that wasn't bad enough we had to chase where it was and we were given no exclamation or apologies for the occurrence without prompting. It did spoil the evening as my colleagues felt awkward eating their food without me. An overall disappointing experience.

I haven't stayed in a room so cannot comment. The food is excellent and as well as the pub classics they also have some flair and variety. The service is always brilliant and the only downside is the forest fan. Lovely man but still needs to be mentioned. In summary excellent place, not cheap but it's worth every penny.

We stayed here for 1 night on Saturday 12th August and what a lovely stay we had! Lovely setting, easy check in, clean room and beautiful bathroom with a super powerful shower, welcoming bar/restaurant and all members of staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had an evening meal and breakfast and we could not fault the food at all. Thank you for a fantastic stay ❤

Lovely little touches eg note on bed welcoming us with some chocolates. Decent sized room. Hair dryer, iron & ironing board, tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits. Comfy bed. En-suite with a decent sized shower and heated towel rail. Would definitely stay again

Just went for dinner. Good food, friendly service. Very prepared to modify dishes for our preferences. Our waiter had a good sense of humour, pleasant surroundings, was quite pleased. Not cheap, but then The Castle is located in the UK, where nothing at all is priced reasonably.

Business trip for one night, the rooms and en suite are very nicely done. The staff were excellent, to be greeted with a smile at the end of a long day and efficiently booked in was exactly what is needed. Beer and bar area is great, nice seating area outside. Even bright and cheerful staff in the morning at breakfast (great food), really good vibe to the place.

Table we sat at was poorly lit, struggled to read the menu (nothing wrong with my eyes).food was fantastic !service also. Manager or owner ? yesterday 14/12/23 you could have spoken to our waiter in a more polite fashion "PUT SOME SALT ON THAT TABLE!" No please or thanks.(poor lad).

Went here for a well-earned dinner at lunchtime! Lovely ambience, clean, staff are friendly and courteous and, perhaps more importantly, the food was well presented, piping hot and tasty. I had the Steak pie and by a happy miscommunication between my wife and the waitress, she had the Lamb Flatbread.... she loved it and would have this again! The wine was lovely too! Highly recommended!

Great food and service as always. Steak and Ale pie is a must! Generous portions and all of our main courses came out hot, which we do not often get from elsewhere. You won't be disappointed. Good value

Came in for a pub lunch today, had lasagna and my partner had mixed grill. Food was delicious and good portion sizes. The decor is rustic style and gives off good vibes. Highly recommend will be coming back again 😃

The food was lovely, hot & fresh. The staff were really helpful & kind. The disabled toilet is easily accessible & large too. The drinks are a bit expensive but other than that it was good value.

Staff were super friendly, food was well cooked, the main menu had a great selection, kids menu had an amazing selection for Kids, and the beer tasted fresh. Toilets were clean with plenty of parking and a nice beer garden. Hotel / pub also had a lot of character. Would happily go back.

Lovely lively pub which we weren't expecting because of the reasonable cost of a room for an overnight stay. The room was very nice, the beds were comfortable and it was clean. The meals - dinner and breakfast were great, good portions and hot. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and efficient.

I love this pub, its absolutely stunning inside and out. The decor inside is beautiful and really well done even down to the toilets. Great big beer garden right next to Kirby Castle. Staff are always really friendly and make you feel really welcome. Would 100% recommend.

Went for a brunch in the recently renovated Castle hotel, the interior is looking great, very warm and welcoming. The breakfasts were top quality and very tasty - sausage, black pudding & bacon - excellent and the pancake stack is a stack ! Huge ! Also the staff are very friendly and pleasant. Looking forward to trying the lunch and evening menu. All in all a great place for a lovely meal out. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Christmas lunch as part of a group. Excellent food with good service - much better than normally expected in mid-December. Very pleasant staff. Recently refurbished dining room which is much lighter and more cheerful than the main pub area - but lacking the real fire. Not cheap eating, but as usual - you get what you pay for

Been here twice now and we’ve had two brilliant meals. Staff are extremely nice and the pub has a great homely vibe. Dog friendly which is a plus. Food can be pricey but it’s always top notch. Greene King has a real diamond in the rough here.

Amazing value, quality food. Staff were all very personable and accommodating. Great to see this place bustling and to find that certain areas are dog friendly - even though I don't own a dog, I love to see them in pubs! Good on you! The toilets were immaculate. Can't wait to visit again!

As always a FABULOUS meal and service. We went for Fathers Day Sunday Lunch 2 days ago and it was spectacular. So much delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly service, dog friendly, so reasonably priced and awesome cocktails. We were served by Millie this time and she was awesome. We love the beamed ceilings and original architecture. Very comfortable and inviting and it feels like a real old school British pub. Beautiful grounds and the Castle right next to it is such a bonus. We’ve already booked my birthday lunch there in 2 weeks. You’ll never leave this pub hungry that’s for sure. It’s the only place we go now for Sunday dinner. Thanks again guys and see ya again in 2 weeks.

Fabulous staff, great location, good food but very poor room quality. The staff were wonderful and with an actual castle in the back garden, it's a place of great potential but rooms are really disappointing

Stayed here for 1 night with my partner. The room was pretty cheep compared to other places nearby. The room was okay, a little bit worn. The bathroom needs some TLC really, it was more like a hospital bathroom, it was dirty, looked a bit mouldy in places and there was cracks. The shower had stains too. We slept okay, the bed was nice and the room was warm with the heating on. The pipes were pretty loud tho all of a sudden there would be a loud noise and it woke me up at one point through the night. We probably wouldn't stay here again for the night but we would come back for food and drinks. The bar and restaurant was nice, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was cooked nice, we had a really nice meal there.

What a place, don’t over pay for good service, friendly staff. Having gone to the Royal Oak for weeks on end we decided to try the castle as we have hear great feedback from freinds and family. A few key point vs the Royal Oak. It feel like a proper pub instead of a takeaway joint. Staff were really attentive and attention to detail was seen from the moment we walk in massive thank you to Pam and Caroline who made the kids feel welcome and were first class when it came to customer service. price for was 1/3 cheaper than the royal oak food was by far better taster and hot This place is a must visit and certainly turn a corner when it comes to food with a open fire and a friendly warm environment perfect for family who wants to make any meal special.
