This is a very nice place for dinner. We went on a weekday and it was rather empty. The ambience was modest but done well. The service was very good, I have to point out. We had the mixed platter for two and it was quite good. For dessert I had the tiramisu. It came out freshly made and was very good. I can heartily recommend this place.

We booked a table for early on a Wednesday evening and found we were the only diners in a large restaurant. As a consequence the general atmosphere wasn't wonderful. The quality of the food and service made up for it,however. Located in the centre of Leicester with reasonable on street parking close by.

The atmosphere amazing and staff as well. I ordered the calamari and loved it.Really good ones and also, penne amatriciana,the taste was really good,like home-made but pasta was a bit too forced al dente,I should’ve mentioned it to them to boil pasta more for me. But next time for sure🥰🙏🏼 Really recommend.

I’ve had risotto a few times and I never liked it. I still don’t like risotto. If you like risotto I’m sure you’d love their seafood risotto. I still had to add salt, pepper, and fresh Parmesan. My husband loved his puttanesca and my son loved his lasagna. The espresso was fantastic. The cheesecake was more whipped cream like to me. We also had a bottle of white wine from Italy. We had all this food and it was way cheaper than most restaurants we’ve been to. I’d go back and get seafood pasta instead of the risotto. The staff was friendly and the bathrooms were clean. This place is definitely worth a visit. If I ever go to Italy I would try risotto there and then I’d know for sure if I’m not a fan lol 😝 until then, pasta only. 🧡

Had the set summer menu as it was a leaving do. Food was nice though I'm not sure i would have served salad with the lamb. Karaoke was a laugh and everyone sang along. Only down fall of the evening, was if paying by card for drinks at the bar, the minimum spend was £20. Take cash with you.

It might not have been the prettiest plate of food I've eaten but I could not fault the taste. My steak was cooked to absolute rare perfection, one of the best I can remember! The dolcelate sauce was heavenly and I ate more of the potato wedges than I probably should trying to mop it all up! The staff were friendly and helpful, on hand for anything we needed without hovering. If I had to criticise anything, it would be the lack of a side plate for the very generous (everything about the portions was generous) salad that came with the meal. Can't believe I hadn't found this place before, will definitely be returning!

We’ve been coming here for years now and it’s never falters. Food is delicious and authentic, staff are so welcoming and attentive and it’s great fun coming on a Friday or Saturday evening. Haven’t sampled the party menu but given the quality of the food I imagine it’s a steal at £27 per person for 4 courses. Definitely recommend, a hidden gem in Leicester.

Visited on the weekend based on reviews. A really pleasant experience only slight let down was the inedible lamb chops that were served as part of the mixed grill.Thankfully the portion size was generous enough that we were still full and once we pointed it out, swift action was taken to put things right. The karaoke lent a really nice atmosphere, and the service staff was top-notch, professional. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Visited last night with my family and cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Excellent value for money, the food was delicious with generous portions and the service was fantastic. If I’m ever in Leicester again I will certainly be stopping by!

Food was very average, and the service was extremely rushed. Me and my wife went for a meal and some adult time and was rushed in and out within less than an hour and that’s a starter and main. The staff was very stressed and pressured and the place wasn’t even full. We will personally not be going back. It’s cheap but that's all.

Went for my birthday 15 of us We had an amazing night,the food was excellent and thanks to all the staff you were outstanding. Karaoke made the night we all had so much fun. Thank you altro Mondo will be coming back in the summer. X

They had exceptionally limited veg options, and some of the limited ones they did have, were cooked in wine - so not edible by a Muslim or someone who doesn't drink. Veg option that came out was extremely cold for all of us and had to be sent back. By the time they came back out piping hot everyone else had ate and the appetite wasn't there anymore. Finally, considering they are based in the heart of Leicester, having no halal options is a massive downside.

The food was ok, not seasoned at all and very little flavouring. The french fries we ordered came as a big portion in a bowl bit were VERY oily. Wont be visiting again unfortunately

You don't come here for the food, but the atmosphere with the karaoke was great.. note that you need cash on the bar and no card payments less than £20. They do not allow you to run a tab. Drinks are expensive.

Simply the BEST Italian in Leicester. Superb Food, Great Service, Wonderful atmosphere. Also very consistent! Always as good as the time before! Highly recommend this place. 👌🏽

Lovely staff, was quiet as the news had been announced before we went (08/09). Very happy environment, a good selection of food and drinks, which were served quickly and tasted absolutely brilliant. Couldn't finish my calzone it was hugeeee! No one in our party had room for dessert!

Went with group of six family members on a refined stag event. The food, service and value were excellent. The karaoke was well organised and not intrusive. The staff very pleasant. A good night and no hesitation in recommending.

Fantastic value for money. Really tasty food, generous portions. After pouring our red wine, which we were initially happy with, the manager opened another bottle for free as he thought the original was corked - he was right! This attention to detail is great to experience. Will definitely be back.

Three generations of our family had tickets for a performance at Curve in Leicester and wanted to.have dinner together first. We wanted to be sure we could eat and still get to the theatre in time without rushing. I hadn't eaten at any restaurants near the theatre and on researching realised there actually aren't that many in close walking distance (I have mobility problems) to the theatre. I picked Altro Mondo based on the reviews, location to the theatre and the early opening times. I booked a table for 5.30 and was so glad I did as within 30 minutes of arrival, every table was occupied. The restaurant offers a 'theatre' menu and a very comprehensive Italian menu. Service and communication was excellent and I had a phone call from them 24 hours earlier to confirm our booking. Our table was waiting for us and our meal arrived much quicker than expected. All our meals were delicious, clearly cooked to order and very good value. We didn't have room for dessert unfortunately! The restaurant is about a 10 minute slow walk from the theatre and although the area is let down by a certain level of neglect (Council responsibility) it did feel safe. We can highly recommend this restaurant and would certainly go there again
