👍👍 First time trying Southern Indian food, it was delicious. The lunch deal is amazing, generous portion and great value for money. The mini thali is such a delight for your taste buds and sight. Even the main menu offers pocket-friendly and large options to choose. The waiter is super nice and attent... Good South Indian Authentic Food. I had tried Chicken and Lamb dishes. Lunch Meal and other take away options i.e. Hurry n Curry, Lunch Box. All of them are delicious.

Revising my review to 1 star from 4 star based on my recent experience. The booking was made for a group, a Birthday party day out. 7:30 pm Food order was taken at around 8pm and the starters were served roughly after 90minutes. I had to beg multiple members of staff for around 1 hour to get an empty glass to drink water. The air conditioner was not turned on, the place was suffocating and the air was not breathable. It was a fully occupied place. Aircon was turned on after an hour. I am thankful for that. The main dishes order was taken after 2 hours and by then all the guests were drained out with no energy left or mood to eat. Sadly there were 4 kids in our group who were left to starve. The restaurant was understaffed and the staff were clueless about what was going on. A couple of wrong dishes were served and we were left with no energy or time to return them. Bill was wrong and we had to correct it. We left between 22:45-23:00 Overall bad experience for the Birthday girl, her parents(hosts) and the guests. How can you treat your customers so badly? That too for an advanced booking? I have emailed the branch on Feb 6th and till date (4th Apr) I did not receive a response.

Very lovely place for Indian food. Extremely friendly staff. I ordered a seafood Thali. Some dishes in it were a little spicy for me but they were all delicious anyway. I was more than full with all that food on the plate. They have a good variety of wines but you can order only one if you are not buying bottle. I certainly will have a dinner here on my next visit to Leicester.

We came to Leicester from Sheffield just to try food in Chettinad restaurant after reading the reviews. And didn't disappoint even a single bit. The food was really tasty and the person who served us today is kind and courteous. People like him are the reason why the restaurant is so famous. I forgot to ask his name(young chap). Please pass on our appreciation to him. Thank you Chettinad restaurant

Good spacious restaurant. Had passed by this restaurant many a times but had never stopped to check the menu or what the restaurant was like. The atmosphere was pleasant and the welcome was even more pleasant. We had gone just over an hour before it was about to close so had to make a hurried decision and order our food. Tue person tending to us helped us make our choice and we were glad we ordered what we did. The price of food was fair sub £50 which included drinks, 2 Starters and 2 main courses. All in all a good night out...we definitely look into visiting again.

I loved the non veg platter❤️ Served in banana leaf made it extraordinary n mouth watering. They can still improve on the South Indian curry’s however I can’t leave a rating less than 5. You will never feel disappointed 😋😋😋

Was quite disappointed in the end having read other reviews. Uncomfortable furniture, okay food and really poor choice of music made the vibe awful. Was a back up choice after others were not available and felt like it

Fantastic place to taste south Indian food. All the ones we ordered are really good. Staffs are very friendly and polite. Very good atmosphere as well. I highly recommend the starters platter that has chicken 65, lamb chukka , fish fry and prawns. The price is very reasonable and the quantity is very good for the price. Highly recommended.

As a South Indian, this place is not authentic at all it tastes bland and weird. None of the food was good and very small portions for the price. The servers were nice. But there was no cutlery on the table and the servers took a while to place them there. The food did make me feel sick a bit and was just not worth it. Also the toilets were located right next to the kitchen and staff were cleaning and drying plates right outside. This experience was so bad I made my first ever Google review😭

It’s a 5 star experience. If the food came to the table a little faster. Lots of take away delivery guys. Probably held up service but if you are patient. The flavours are great! Light on protein.

Truly authentic and quite rare South Indian cuisine. Home food far away from home. Great service, lovely staff, good ambiance. Highly recommended.

It's my wedding day today, I ordered food in Chettinad Leicester branch first time. Food came as expected & Appearance looks good. All the dishes made are not good. I never review restaurant foods before but I need to say this. Some foods are very salty especially Ulundu Vadai, The fish curry looks Soup not a Curry, Coconut chutney is easy to make but that too looks very bad in taste and the cauliflower is raw just coated but not cooked. Seems no quality check done here. Waste of time and money. Beware.

Everything was average. Only the fish curry was nice with fresh flavours. Ambience was a bit boring not lively.

I absolutely adored the food and the service at Chettinad. Being on the lookout for a great South Indian restaurant, I relied on the reviews, and Chettinad exceeded my expectations. It's not often that reviews truly reflect the experience, but in this case, they absolutely did. The standout was the gentleman who served us. He had a remarkable understanding of our preferences and recommended a couple of dishes that turned out to be absolutely delightful. Beyond just the food, I am already looking forward to returning to try something new and to greet him with a warm hello.

Went to Chettinad and had the Kerala Non Veg Thaali and Chettinad Thaali. In the Chettinad Thaali the curries were tasty but the meat was chicken breast pieces cooked and added to the meat. It didn’t have any flavour. The Chicken kondattam starter was nice. The other thing I noticed was the Papad the fried fish all had a burnt oil/ old oil taste to it. We loved the payasam that came with Thaali, ordered 2 more portions and each one was charged 6.90£. The portion size was normal, it was totally overpriced . Paying 14£ for two portions of semiya payasam.

It was quite busy when we went, however, the staff were very attentive and friendly. Fish curry was quite rich and yummy and loved the biryani. I would say definitely try pepper chicken 😊.

We paid £16 for this kerala thali which when described by the staff sounded like a fish thali but it came with no proper fish fry piece just a few fried small finger like fish which was not that great it came with no roti/puri to eat the vegetables provided Overall for £16 they can do much better…( I feel the staff could have made us very clear that there won’t be a proper fish piece or would have clearly mentioned the £16 price with all the items on the thali) Chicken 65 and rava masala dosa was good but stay away from the kerala thali I will add that the decor with bells and Indian touches gives u a great feel if u relate to India or south India Also, the slow rhythm flute music of famous Bollywood songs feels nice and compliments the place But food took ages to come (20 mins) Also a group of men chatting so loud really was interfering with our experience and they won’t stop at all but all in all a good experience 🙂

excellent location to try South Indian cuisine. I tasted their masala chai and kottu paratha. The masala chai was great. As expected, the kottu paratha was nice. I and two of my companions tried the lamb and chicken kottu paratha. The lamb was good; I would give it a 6.5/10, while for the chicken, a 5/10 will do. It wasn't a bad deal, but because I'm a Sri Lankan and our country has the best kottu paratha, this one felt unfamiliar and unauthentic. This wasn't quite as good as the delirious ones I've had in my home country, though. You may give it a try. The cost was very reasonable. Cost: 29.50 for 2 kottu parathas and 3 masala chais. It was an inspiring deal.

Wow! Just been in with my uncle, we came away knowing we’ll be returning to eat there again- firstly the staff are really nice, they come over when you ask them but leave you be when you’re eating. And the food!- I nearly went for a spicy lamb dish but the lovely young man did give me a heads up, and the chef made it milder for me. Ohhh I loved the Painkiller cocktail, and as for the lemon pickle chutney…wow, like a taste explosion. So yep, dine here! The cutlery is laid out as you sit down, the food comes out just after you finish the previous course, the main portion sizes are very fair… No negatives in my opinion

Lovely food, good size portions at reasonable prices, we really loved the variety of south indian drinks too. With 1 drink, main, rice chapatis we spent about £12 per person. We will definitely come back here.

What a brilliant experience! Excellent food at very reasonable price. They serve chettinad style food, as their name states. We had the chettinad non-vegeterian platter, porotta, chettinad aadu soup and thaali. Was spicy and packed with flavours - definitely recommend! 💯 I'm from india and I'm sure fellow Indians would agree that it is difficult to find authentic Indian restaurants here (probably not in Leicester😂). Special shout-out to the chef and everyone who attended to us, especially Anandu and Ashwin. Excellent job. Apologies for the bad quality of pictures - was too excited to start eating!

I recently had the pleasure of eating at Chettinad Restaurant with my friends and tbh it was amazing. First of all the staffs were friendly, attentive, and happy to recommend dishes based on our preferences. When it comes to food I have no words it was outstanding. I ate the thalli which was packed with aromatic spices and was super delicious. The payasam was yummy. The flavors, the service, and the ambience all combined to create a memorable meal. I can't wait to go back and try more of their mouthwatering dishes.

Nice interior, service was great. The food was ok. Dosa slightly over cooked. Chicken 65 was amazing, ordered a second portion.

It’s been a year since I’m visiting this restaurant with my friends. They always treat us with varieties of delicious dishes, a wonderful appearance an extensive wine list, and a superb dessert. Staffs were respectful, mindful, and extremely obliging! The ambiance is so peaceful, and so eyeful of its traditional touch. I would recommend it to anyone! I’d like to return here again and again!!
