Restaurant

😠 I used to like this restaurant but there has been a clear deterioration in the cooking standard over the last 2 years. Even though the chateaubriand steak was of a decent meat quality, it was spoiled by the cooking. For a medium rear cook, there was lots of blood in the serving pan, not to mention... People often mention staff, steak, restaurant, great, meal, lovely, special, service, cooked, amazing,

I used to like this restaurant but there has been a clear deterioration in the cooking standard over the last 2 years. Even though the chateaubriand steak was of a decent meat quality, it was spoiled by the cooking. For a medium rear cook, there was lots of blood in the serving pan, not to mentioned the chef had carelessly left the tying string in the steak. The vegetables (kale) was over cooked with signs of being burnt. The desserts were way too sweet and reminds me of school dinner. A far cry from its hey days.

10 out of 10 food, cannot say much about their main meals -steaks as I don't like steaks, bit seabass was amazing and desert was just taking food pleasure on new level. Cocktails are tasty too.

Lack of service and generally disappointed No food outside, not even a portion of chips. They only do food outside at weekends from 3 to 8. Got a tiny cup of peanuts for £2. What good value - not!

Went for afternoon tea, nice place but the food wasn’t great and the staff didn’t pay attention to us when we wanted to say we’re not happy with the food. Tiny portions and expensive. Disappointing as it’s meant to be Leicesters best afternoon tea and it’s one of the worst I’ve had.

Everything is cooked and prepared to a high standard that is difficult to find elsewhere. For a special occasion this restaurant really sets the standards high.

Really disappointed with the food and service, we visited last night for a special 40th meal, The waitress dropped a pint down my partners brand new jacket, which has stained it. No apology was made, the pint was still charged for afterwards with no offer to rectify the jacket. The food was a really poor quality, one of the medium steaks came out supposedly Medium Rare and was the rarest steak i have ever seen with blood poring out. For the price of the food, i would not expect all the issues we had and i would not recommend eating here to anyone.

I had 4 different restaurants in mind and this one was the one that was decided on! What can I say absolutely no regrets on finding out about this place. Mocktails to food everything was simply scrumptious. For starters we had scallops, mains beer glazed chicken and a sirloin steak. Both cooked perfectly especially on the steak. The desserts were simply marvelous. Creme brulee, and mango parfait. Abit on the pricy side for 3 course meal but would definitely come back again! Good place to go to for any special occasions.

Nice staff, however sadly let down by average food at expensive prices, including a tiny gravy pot at £4! the outdoor music was also too loud and clearly to the DJ's tastes rather than the customers. More annoying was the road into the venue from the A47 Hinckley Road. if I'm spending £200+ I don't expect to damage my car negotiating huge pot holes, excessive speed bumps and problems with children off the local estate. The final insult was being told we'd have to pay £3 each to eat a tiny piece of 80th birthday cake we'd brought in. Hadn't we spent enough ?? Discretion should have been used but clearly GREED TOOK OVER. Peak time on Saturday evening and only 3 tables were taken sums it up. We went back outside to relax but sadly the thump thump music was even louder so we left. Never Again !

Sunday lunch sharing platter was delicious. Lovely fresh veg, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips. Yorkshire puds were huge and very tasty, gravy was good. It was very busy and we didn't get any water for the table. The the starter came out with the main but this was taken off the bill. Will definitely return and highly recommend to others.

First time at this restaurant and we won’t be returning. The service was extremely poor, management choosing to seat and serve walk-ins before ourselves who had pre-booked for a special occasion. We waited 2 hours in total before receiving our main course. Food was average, nothing special about it apart from the price. I don’t mind paying extra for a special experience/ great food but this was neither.

Lovely sunday lunch reasonably priced. Greeted with a warm welcome and showed through to the restaurant. Restaurant staff lovely. My only complaint if you can call it that, was the plates that the main meal were served on were cold, so food didn't stay warm for long enough

Very poor, disappointing service, poorly trained young staff and a head waiter who didn't seem to care. Food was average, personally overcooked meat and green veg. Dessert wasn't warmed through, taken away, replaced and exactly the same. Shocking and overpriced for what you got.

Had been meaning to try this place out as it's fairly local, and is set in beautiful surroundings and had decent reviews - was very disappointed. The standard of food that arrived, was appalling!! I've had better from a Harvester! The vegetarian options were very limited, so the vegetable tartlet was ordered, and the chicken dish. The vegetable tartlet came and was ridiculous! It was an overcooked pastry case, that was tougher than leather to cut through, with two slices of aubergine and a slice of courgette, with a salad. Basically a £15 salad ..... The chicken came, and was doused in some kind of bland sauce, the flavour was indistinguishable, with a sprig of long broccoli and something else. The whole experience was very underwhelming, and very disappointing! This would've been a firm favourite, if they'd delivered a standard of food that represented the venue. Get a chef that can deliver! A real shame, as it's a stunning venue! Would NOT recommend, or return!

There was Christmas celebrations on in other parts of building - never seen so many beautiful sparkly dresses!!! We had a Lovely welcome - Had drinks in the bar before our meal. We've dined here several times but noticed how cold it was in actual restaurant. We mentioned to waitress who obviously passed on as heater got warm. Was fine whilst eating then really cold again. Service was excellent really pleasant staff. Food was nice tho steaks werent the best weve had in past. Dessert was delicious - chocolate tarte. We will return and would recommend.

Four of us had Sunday lunch..... wow !! It was outstanding, best roast we've eaten in a long time. The Pork chops were fab, as was the beef, lovely Yorkshire puddings, with lots of great veg & roast potatoes, also given 2 jugs of Gravy which were refilled on request and different Sauces & mustard provided. Dessert also delicious Service great as prompt but not intrusive, with friendly staff. Would recommend & will return

One of the best steaks I've ever tasted. I didn't actually order accompanying sauce but the one included was delicious. And don't get me started on those triple cooked, chunky chips......I could have eaten them again!

The best steak I have ever had. You don't just win the steakhouse of the Midlands for no reason. They also did something special for me on my birthday with dessert. This was completely unexpected and kind. Highly recommend.

Starter was amazing, black pudding scotch egg, my steak was slightly over, and didn't seem like it had been very well seasoned, it was still very good but at that price point I would expect not to be able to pick fault at all. At the end of the evening the staff where cleaning down all the tables (we where the last in there) yet no one asked if we wanted the bill, just carried on spaying tables down next to where I was sat, I thought that was a bit rude.

Booked for a friend's 50th celebratory meal for 10 of us. The drive up scratched the cars as the trees hadn't been pruned and no other option but to drive under the branches. Presented with the specials board which was just the normal menu albeit showing what wasn't available. What wasn't available was 75% of the steak menu which given this was the reason we came was disappointing. The steaks that we ordered where good, well cooked and served together which is no mere fete for an order of 10. Just let down by the availability of what we actually wanted. Played dodge the pit bike when driving out.

Food was good but not fantastic The service was pretty poor, unfortunately due to us being shoved into a dingy corner away from everyone else. We waited around 45 mins for our starter with the restaurant about half full.. Also the first time I've had my steak pre-cut into manageable slices

Amazing venue, the staff are so down to earth which I loved as sometimes I feel uncomfortable in such stunning places, huge shout out to Jake who was lovely and made us feel so welcome, great food, stunning surroundings, not over priced for the quality either! Loved it, thanks x
