Speechless park! Very nice and big area for a walk! A lot of swans 🦒, gooses and ducks πŸ¦†. Duck food machine available if you want to feed the birds yourself. Β£1.5 for a normal portion and Β£3 for a large one, I will recommend for you to have a bag or a cup(something you could use to take the food for the birds from the machine).

Watermead country park is a lovely place to go walking, running & cycling. It’s a very flat area with really well-maintained paths and bridges - a perfect location for dog walking, with amazing views of the multiple lakes. There is lots of space to let your dog off the lead to run about and explore & you can find various dog waste bins scattered throughout the park. As far as I'm aware, there aren't any facilities like bathrooms or cafes. There are however picnic areas available if you bring a packed lunch.

Really good place to take a stroll. Good paved paths to most parts. Main car-park off Alderton Close from A607 Melton Road fee payable. Toilets available in car park. Google maps took me into Birstall village very nice with free carparks and local facilities. Walk down Church Hill past the White Horse pub and across the river Soar and Grand Union Canal.

Lack of toilet facilities. The quick fix was for them to put the signs up saying the loos are on order, three years on still nothing done.

Can be busy. But a lovely place to escape from the city. Only a short cycle from the centre. Leave your car at home and get out there. Usually an ice cream van and coffee pod near by. Great for the kids as well.

Lovely peacefull wander engaging with the birds and people with their dogs. It's a flat walk so although it takes me time there are benches to sit on. And if you want a longer walk you can head over the bridge to Birstall lakes or shops fab enjoy.

Always a great place for a walk all year round. Plenty of seating to rest and take in the view and several 'hides' for discreet bird watching.

Still waiting for the pot holes to be filled in, also the bridge going round to the statues need tarmac on, unsafe for the elderly, disabled and walkers.Watermead park is open Mon/Wed.9am till 7pm these times may vary throughout the year King Lear entrance.πŸ˜€21.03 22 A big and heartfelt. thank you to all the volunteers, many who are elderly who help the Wardens at the Watermead park for all the hard work they do.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.25.03.22 Went for my first bike ride yesterday , I went to, I believe is the south side of the Watermead park, the one with the Mammoth, I was pleased to see that the slatted walkway has been removed and a proper tarmacked path installed, well done πŸ˜€

The recent floods have revealed an ugly truth, which is the appalling way the people of Leicester litter and treat the River Soar as a dumping ground. On our walk today the scene was unbelievable - rubbish strewn as far as the eye can see, from plastic and cans to old saree fabrics, coconuts and offerings from Hindu burial rituals. The scene was horrible, and a potential health hazard. I've been walking here for 25 years and, while it's expected for some debris to wash up when floodwater recedes, this is by far the worst it's ever been. This city should hang its head in shame for ruining what, when looked after properly, is a beautiful place. I will not be returning until the people of this city start to take a bit of pride in their area again. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.

Fantastic. Very accessible for all the family, if you’ve got a pushchair or wheelchair then fear not. Tarmac paths are in abundance at this marvellous location.

The best place for taking fresh air and fresh up your mind. The best place for enjoying the beauty of nature but I recommend it with your family ans friends. One thing else please please be careful before you come that most of the time the washrooms are out of order!!!! And someone may not desperate in need of washrooms.

A pleasant walk on flat and paved ground. Limited toilet facilities when I visited with only one cubicle by the South car park. Make sure to bring your own hand sanitiser.

Nice wildlife . Nice walks and some nice play areas ... let down by a lack of toilets as the ones at thurmaston are currently burnt out. And not very many areas suitable for eating. All in all though a very enjoyable morning out ... with a nice pic nic.

Watermead is one of my favourite places to walk my dog in Leicestershire. There is a good toilet block, the car park costs Β£2.50 (April 2023) but it is possible to park for free, if you park nearby rather than in the Country Park. There are plenty of picnic benches and lots of bins. Despite it being extremely popular with dog walkers it was obvious that most people were clearing ip after their dog. It can get very busy on Bank Holidays and fair weather weekends but is pretty quiet during the week.

Lovely outdoor leisure park to enjoy, plenty of wildlife and open spaces to walk yr dogs, bring the family to walk or bike ride, in very scenic picturesque surroundings , lots of Arty statues dotted around here to enjoy as part of the scenery. A very enjoyable scenic picturesque woodland park for all to enjoy.

This is an urban country park that is accessible for both Birstall and Leicester city people. The walks are flat and wheelchair friendly and can be from just over a kilometre, to up to 12, and even those could be extended through the nature reserves. This year will be a bumper year for bramble-berries picking. Wildlife is fabulous in bird form. I use the park for dog walking and nearly all owners pick up after their dogs. Such a nice change from other areas.

Beautiful scenery, great for dog walking with the bonus of doffing my cap and mumbling afternoon at everyone I pass.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ This is a lovely unexpected place. Lots of variety from wooded trails to open hills, rivers and little tracks, to majestic views and places to ponder. It’s big yet caters for both short and longer walks. Well cared for and an absolute pleasure. It’s a private place where you can be alone yet there...
