I booked a table for 6 people, paid a deposit of £60, which I queried as I had not been asked for this before. Unfortunately, the morning of our booked meal, my daughter was taken to hospital by ambulance. My husband called to cancel. They refused a refund or to hold the deposit for another date, as the cancellation was outside the 72 hours they said was required. No one can help being ill, nor a family emergency. This is shady practice at best. The food is good, we have been many times over the years. However we will never step foot in this place again. Buyer beware.

The food is good however doesn't blow you away. But probably the best chinese restaurant in our area. Didn't taste much beyond our local Chinese takeaway. But is a nice place for a special occasion.

We went here for my. B Day. Never been before. I was shocked really. The size of the place inside. It’s more like a function / conference room than a restaurant. The feeling is far from a nice place to have a meal. And we were constantly getting asked if we had finished when clearly they’re was food left on the table. Felt rushed not a nice environment. The food also I believe is cooked on mass and re heated. Palatable food I suppose.

The service was very slow but the food was quite nice. I highly recommend the green tea 🍵. I didn’t like the cake (see picture) not the best quality.

Fantastic Chinese - I've been coming here for years, sometimes I sit in and enjoy the restaurant and sometimes I order for takeaway. Yes the takeaway is a bit more expensive than your traditional takeaway but the quality of meat and ingredients is second to none. I visited last night for dinner and the food was fantastic. The service is always excellent and the attention to detail to make you feel like a VIP is always on show. I love the fact you get the choice of using chopsticks 🥢 or cutlery, I always ask for both as I like to have a go with the chopsticks 🥢 The place was very clean and tidy. The coffee ☕ and crème was yummy 😋 Thanks for bringing a bit of China to Doncaster and Bawtry. I love it here and highly recommend it. Access ♿ is good for all abilities, ramps are available and lots of seating. 🇨🇳👲❤️

First of all the food is great can not fault it at al. The service on the other hand questionable. Service started of great very polite attentive, but after mains arrived (missing a few items) trying to get the many staffs attention started to become difficult. This was at 8pm on Tuesday night 22/06/22, so a quiet night were the staff out way the customers Manaaged to get missing items to table enjoyed mains but then sat 20 minutes with finished meals on table, tried many times to gain eye contact but all avoided and walked other way Was going to stay for dessert but changed our minds, finally caught the attention of a staff members but saying excuse me can we have the bill. The reply was silent and looked away so we were unsure if they heard us or not but then turned up with bill Payed it and left Dirty plates still on table Again food great Service not great

We went for our wedding anniversary.Was told their was a dress code but nearly everyone was wearing jeans and was dressed casual . Expected it to be classy but it wasn't and the food was overpriced and the chicken dish we had was like rubber and the sauces with the other dishes were bland like not like other reviews had said will not be going back there. I will stick my Chinese takeaway from local Chinese takeaway instead the food so much nicer and cheaper was so disappointed by this restaurant. I was really sick today please do not go here.

We wanted to try this restaurant as it was recommended by a friend. Drove nearly half an hour to get to the place from where we live but as soon as we got in we were approached by the receptionist, who was rude and abrupt. She told us that if my husband can’t change into trousers we wouldnt be admitted in. We were surprised and annoyed on how we were told we arent allowed to be in due to what my husband was wearing. Fair enough if it is stipulated in their website that their is a smart dress code then we could have prepared to dress based on the policy!!

Beautiful surroundings and great service. Food was excellent as usual apart from the rice which stuck together. Disappointed that the dress code was pointed out to me twice and yet men diners think it acceptable to wear a tshirt and ripped jeans!

What's the point of a dress code if the owners let poeple abuse their own rules. Shirts and trousers NO SPORTS SHOES OR TOPS!! was the requirement. Rubbish wear what you want. Place is a joke. Poor standards takeaway food, restaurant prices. Disappointing

We had been visiting this restaurant for years. It used to be an exiting place once, not any more. Food portions were too small to justify the price paid. It was adult price for kids' menu. Service was poor. They started preparing the table for then next customer while we were still at the table, which was very rude. We will not there again.

Fabulous food and even better service. 4 of us dined there and I can honestly say every dish was tasty and hot. Thanks for a great evening.

Excellent service. I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and its very rare that a restaurant lives up to the hype and this restaurant definitely did just that. The food was absoloutley amazing. I'm a coeliac and I was catered for. The food was absolutely amazing. Everyone at our table was commenting on how good the food was. The staff were very attentive and made our work christmas event a very pleasant night. I will definitely be going to this restaurant again. Thank you.

Absolutely beautiful food and service! First time here for me and my wife’s 5th wedding anniversary and could not fault it at all. Staff were extremely friendly from start to finish. The young lass who looked after us was faultless and really friendly. Food was absolutely tip top. Asked for the bill and got a small note wishing us a happy anniversary which was a really nice touch too. We will definitely be back again and again. Thank you all so much

Best Chinese restaurant this side of the English channel! Very nice restaurant, the food is excellent. We usually come here for our anniversary meal and go for the set meal at about £25 pp. Smart dress policy which is something we approve of, keeps the rabble out.

Service at the bar very quick and the young man who made the 'Funny Man' Cocktail very pleasant and talented. Our table service was 2nd to none with the wonderful young man Cameron .... so attentive and helpful... what a lovely evening we are having xxxx

This is a great restaurant with great service and a really nice atmosphere. Although we really enjoyed the food we were a little disappointed that most of the dishes we ordered seemed to contain chillies which weren't needed in my opinion and slightly spoiled them.

Most inattentive staff all very pleasant but not helpful. Some of the food was cold but we couldn't catch the eye of a waiter to mention this. Sadly we will not be returning . We were never asked if we wanted another drink. The seats were so close together I was jostled as people walked past our table.

We went this Friday. And had a lovely meal all tho very salty. MSG?. Lovely service on entering. Very polite. Got sat at the table. And served by 2 young ladies who were to busy giggling. Then we ordered a bottle of wine from a young GIRL. Who had no facial expressions at all. And had about as much energy as a pregnant earwig. Half way through the meal she asked "if everything was OK". Me... Yes it Lovely thank you. Bit later. I'd finished eating and she came up stone face and asked if we'd finished. My girlfriend said "No" as she still had her knife and fork in her hands. Taken back the young GIRL said. "Oh right how long ya gonna be". I burst out laughing at the look on my girlfriends face. 🤣. I asked the young GIRL "if it was her first day". She was so happy to tell me it was her second day..

Excellent service and the food selection were great. We had the set menu, and I loved every dish. Great atmosphere and great service along with great food. What more could you want.

They gave our takeaway food to someone else, so it wasn't ready on time, and they missed the pancakes which went with the shredded half duck. Disappointed. Food was tasty, though.

I have eaten Chinese food all around the world and this would have to be the best I have ever had. Staff were brilliant and the restaurant is fantastic. If I could give more stars I would.

Food was amazing portion sizes were really good, cocktails were great value for money, bar staff were pleasant and quick at making the drinks, I think Matthew was the young man making the drinks. Great restaurant

Pretty average given the hefty prices of dishes. 3 of us had the set menu at £27 per head, 1 portion of ribs, 3 mains and half a bowl of special fried rice between us all. It would have been cheaper to buy the items individually. Food quality was generally ok but portions very small. Rice however was not fried rice, just plain with average bits of meat and a few tiny prawns - not very special. 3 flash fry fish ordered by my wife, again tiny portion for £16. Squid was rubbery, prawns and monkfish not bad. Finally £27 for a very average Rioja which arrived cold, not room temperature. One of our group was celebrating a birthday so didn't make a fuss. I personally wouldn't go back, not for me.

I had not dined at the China Rose for a few years. It was as I remembered....a really special place to dine. The atmosphere was happy and chilled. The food divine as always. The four of us had the set menu D.....delicious. So much food!! Service good and our waitress was young and friendly. Won't be leaving it as long until I visit again. Thank you.

Very limited parking. We had booked in for 7.30 but didn't get seated till 7.50. Some food was superb, some bland. We really don't mind paying higher prices, which they are, so long as we get great tasting food. For we two it fell short.

Really enjoyed the meat dishes especially the duck and the shredded beef. The vegetable dishes I thought were too gelatinous. The staff were really attentive and friendly.

Had a great meal between Christmas and New Year. Place was decorated to the nines. Every request met with fast service; only thing that took a while was getting the bill and then paying it! We had set menus A & B, there was a tonne of food -- amazing ribs in particular!

China Rose is one of those places that really take you by surprise. Personally I never enjoyed Chinese food ( too salty, sweet and greasy ) . But China Rose showed me a new perspective regarding quality. Together with my work colleagues we had a feast ( £30 per person - seems a lot but you get a lot ) made out of starters and multiple main dishes . The spring rolls were the best I ever had and the prawn tost was amazing . There are 2 criticism : - the food was a bit too salty and too sweet in the same time ( this is more of a personal preference ) - no desert included ( though it is understandable - I would rather have no desert than compromising on the quality of the main dishes) Overall really good experience . I would recommand this place for those who enjoy Chinese food and for those that want to experience for the first time Chinese cuisine

A yearly treat for celebration as I do feel this is a pricey place (but then again, i am a Yorkshire lass!) But don't let that put you off. The food is excellent, well presented and plenty of it. Peruse the on-line menu because you'll be spoilt for choice on the day. "Doggy bags" are offered to take home left overs, (which there will be) and you can also order to take out too. Look out for special occasions like Christmas when there's usually been live entertainment, one year was a table magician which was unique and they were pretty good too. The ONLY reason I've not given 5 stars is parking. There's about 10 places, 2 are disabled however, totally inadequate for size of venue plus to make matters worse, visitors to local pubs also park there so get in early or be prepared to park around the corner and walk back, not ideal for infirm people or children. Please note that a SMART dress code applies and customers HAVE been refused admission. If in doubt check before but as a rule no trainers, joggers, hoodies. It's not a cheap night so dress appropriately! They also had stopped serving bitter (John Smiths) but have listened to customers and it will return to the bar in the next few weeks.

Over priced average at best haven't been here for twenty years and won't be rushing back and the description of some of the dishes was nothing like what you get gave two stars because of the company I was with other wise it would have been 1

China Rose does not have enough car parking space for their customers. If you park in Bawtry even after 18:00 pm you have to pay not like Doncaster. We got a parking fine £25 but good meal.

Really enjoyed our meal at China Rose tonight. Lovely food at a decent price and good portions too. We had the special banquet at £30pp. Highlights were the Szechuan Crispy Pork and the Minced Pork in lettuce wraps. There is a dress code.

A lovely place to have wonderful food. The menu is fully stocked and has many amazing dishes. The flavours are pure bliss and the wait staff are fantastic. The bar has good selection of drinks available for a great choice. The restaurant is decorated and themed in a Chinese style which really seals in that authenticity. There is a dress code at this establishment so smart/smart-casual dress is expected. The new years celebrations are amazing and a great experience that would be wonderful for anyone to enjoy, but do bear in mind that it is very popular so book early.

Frequent eating place for the family and always liked. Excellent service, impeccable taste and consistent performance. Easily the best Chinese (Cantonese) restaurant in the Bawtry Doncaster area. Keep it up guys.
