We did a trip to Howth. There at the pier there are several options to have fresh fish, and we decided to try The Brass Monkey. It was a nice decision. I loved the cod but also the starters, specially the ribb, yes, the ribb, was absolutely top. Nice people there that attended us nicely. We'll be back, sure.

Loved this restaurant! Had dinner there recently with a friend. Lovely restaurant on the pier, great atmosphere and super staff! As for the food, simply amazing! Super tasty and fresh fish cooked to perfection. We had calamari to start - delicious! Followed by Seafood linguini (full of yummy fish. Mussels and juicy prawns) and a duo of Ray and Seabass served with purple potatoes and salsa. This dish was something else! Great menu and great value. Highly recommended for dinner in Howth!

Delicious sea food. We ordered a few snacks/starters. Loved the calamari, nice and crispy. The bread that came with the chowder was amazing.

We were spontaneously in Howth and had desire on dinner. Our choice should not disappoint us. Friendly welcome and first class food. Absolutely recommendable.

Great food, we tried the fish and chips and crab cakes and croquettes and they were delicious! The local craft beer is also very good.

The dining experience was delightful, with a variety of scrumptious dishes. Our seafood lunch was exceptional, featuring dishes such as shell pasta with prawns, crabs, and lobster, classic fish and chips, flavorful Thai chicken rice curry, as well as delectable lobster and crab-filled dumplings. Every bite was bursting with flavor.

Great place to visit for a meal when you are on Howth, staff are super friendly and accommodating. Seafood was really delicious and steaks were perfectly prepared.right on the docks where you can sit at a fireplace to keep warm or take a seat outside to enjoy the sights and sounds of the harbour. The bar serves amazing drinks and cocktails to warm you after the long cliff walks.

We had the most amazing seafood chowder! Take the deluxe version, it is simply delicious and not too thick. The seafood linguine is one of the best I've ever had. A must try.

Cosy place with an inviting atmosphere for a meal and some drinks after a hike or adventure in the area. Seafood chowder and the fish and chips were spot on. A must try is the chowder. Give it a try!

Overall the experience was great. Was there on Christmas Eve for lunch. For starters the Calamari was truly incredible, the sauce was great, and you can choose from a single or a sharing plate. The Duck Pâté with Toasted Bread was also quite nice. Our main courses were: fish and chips, which was quite nice (comes with thin chips and tartar sauce); ribeye steaks with chips and (two HUGE) onion rings; and Plaice with vegetables and oysters. The fish in general were better, which is not a surprise, as fresh fish is just around the corner. The steaks were also quite good, however, the rare steak we ordered was not really bloody, while the medium rare ones were slightly unevenly done. Nevertheless they were great. The desserts were also really nice. The brownie with vanilla ice cream was really dense, with a string flavour, while the strawberry cheesecake was heavier than we would've liked, but tasted very much of strawberries. All in all, it is a beautiful little place for lunch or dinner. It is highly recommended if you are in Howth and looking for something that will be sure to fill you up.

Nice restaurant and food but nothing really stood out. They put a service charge of 10% for our table of 4 people which was odd.

Was lucky to get a seat on May day as Howth was a zoo. They were able to seat us right away. Calamari was delicate, we had catch of the day which was cod au gratin. Large serving of fish presented well and potatoes were amazing,... Washed down with a creamy pint. Definitely recommend

Staff was quick as well as friendly. View is great for Dublin. Food was good. I liked how they included the origin of the name "The Brass Monkey" in the menu. I think this place is great for a visit in summer. I hope they are still doing good. I went there in January 2020.

Very good seafood restaurant! We had the gambas pil pil and the fried octopus as starters and both were amazing. I'd come back only for that! From the mains I'd recommend the homemade ravioli with shrimp.

Nice place to eat dome seafood and traditional irish dishes. We got salmon steak, shepherds pie and cannelonni with seafood. The pasta was outstanding. Better to make reservations, otherwise may be full.

The experience I had at the Brass Monkey was quite disappointing. I ordered the clam chowder which was all right, but then I ordered the seafood linguine, and it was absolutely terrible. The noodles were over cooked, the sauce was much too loose and flavourless. I added salt at least three times to the meal, but it had little to no affect on the lack of taste. I have never returned a meal in my life, but when the waitress came to ask if the meal I had set aside was okay, I politely told her I was sorry but it wasn’t. She did not ask what was wrong with it, but instead asked if she could box it for me. Again I told her no but asked for a cappuccino. She then took the food away, and preceded to ignore me for 30 minutes after I finished the drink in a way that felt punitive. I was considering dining and dashing, another thing I have never done before, when a different waitress came and gave me the bill. I was even more disappointed to find out I was still being charged for the awful seafood linguine I barely ate. Definitely avoid.

Fresh seafood in a cozy prime-located restaurant! Service was friendly. Lots of tables at 12pm, but it got packed soon after. My shellfish tasting plate had a plethora of delicious seafood - I especially liked the scallop, which had a great texture. Other dishes were great as well - the seafood chowder was tasty! Recommended!

I came to the Brass Monkey for the first time in 2011. It is still the best place for lunch in Howth. They do have early bird, lunch specials and daily specials that change frequently. We had the seafood chowder, mussels and the calamari. Everything is very fresh- this is the place for elevated seafood dishes at a low price point. The staff is lovely and they remodeled the interior after the fire (post covid). The bar is a good place to sit if the restaurant is full. They have a very extensive wine list, some bottled beers, and a great menu. I cannot wait to come back.

I booked this last minute after work with my partner. Our experience was stunning -the food was absolutely delicious and fresh, and washed down with some of the nicest smoothest red wines I’ve had in about 10 years. Our service was fantastic and a lovely atmosphere. We’ll certainly be back, would give 10 stars if I could!

Atmosphere and staff were nice. Was a bit disappointed in the food - it was a mix of good and not so good. Burger was surprisingly undercooked, very red inside. My sister didn't want to make a big deal over it so just ate around the edges and her chips. The shellfish tasting plate (pictured) was pretty, but the amount of food received for the price, was disappointing. The Scallop St Jacques was the best tasting, the rest was surprisingly bland. Very boring side salad, should have chosen a different side. I left still feeling hungry. Daughter ordered the Penne Arrabiata and said it was very good. We also ordered the dessert sampler and the brownie ala mode, these were good, the Banoffee being the best.

I had the special. Seafood cannoli! I am dreaming about eating that again. We were rushed for time, and the restaurant was so accommodating. We were able to relax and enjoy our beautiful and tasty meal. It is such a charming and relaxing place. Next time we will stay long enough to enjoy dessert.

The seafood linguine was excellent. Good sized portions ensure everyone were happy and full. Followed by a dessert combo which was also yummy. Good atmosphere too.

Avoid if your hungry as the portions are very small. I was there today Thursday 21st July 2022. I had fish and chips €19. The fish was like a fish goujon. It certainly wasn't worth the price. It was an insult to my stomach.

Great seafood place (naturally in Howth). I recommend Deluxe Seafood Chowder (not in the photo because it was too good) and pair with See No Evil Pale Ale brewed exclusively for this restaurant.

We went there on last Sunday, the food and the prices were good, but the way they treated us was outstanding, all of the waitress and the waiter were super nice…. For sure I’ll come back, I recommend it.

An excellent restaurant, very busy for a Monday night, no reservation but fortunately had a table for two available. Delicious seafood, lovely atmosphere, great service & staff very friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed the Deluxe Chowder starter, followed by the Shellfish Salad for mains.

Super fresh clams and an unbeatable seafood chowder! The servers seemed understaffed and hectic for Wednesday lunch, but still friendly nonetheless. The lunch combo of soup and fish/chips was a nice value and hearty portion. (Vegan burger was just okay, but vegan obviously isn’t their specialty.)

We popped out to howth on the dart recently and booked a table with no hassle in the brass monkey. We were a little late which was no problem and were seated quickly. The service was very good and all the staff seemed really friendly. The setting is nice and on a good day sitting outside is a great option. The food was really good. Starters were fantastic and we got a sharing platter for mains and there was plenty for the three of us. All in all will be back and would highly recommend!! Just make sure ya bring the sun cream!!!
