A little piece of history it's here, well actually in the museum which hosts the tombs of all important kings of Spain as well as the saint grail (so they say). Visits starts from the next door museum, costs 5 euro but are Spanish only as far as I can tell. Last visit, thirty minutes before closure. In the church, benches are provided with a radiator, so if you're a devotee, your mass can be very comfortable during the winter period.

the church and museum next door are a must see (you can see original integral 11th century frescos, never reconditioned or moved + 10-12th century iluminated bibles)

It is said that here it may be the saint grial. The one used by Jesus Christ in the last supper. How knows? What it is totally true it's that you can see the romanticism sixtina chapel

Visit the kings burial site Romanic paintings. Comparable to those in MNAC in Barcelona, but located where they were painted! And there is what could be the Holy Grial.

A fantastic stay of 3 nights..room was spacious..clean and comfortable..staff friendly also efficient.. particularly the cleaners and the breakfast crew One minor moan would be the lack of tea or coffee making facilities in the room given there was no bar or room service available..the free parking however was a terrific bonus

This was great. The entrance was just outside the courtyard of our hotel and when we walked outside along the walls of the city we looked to our room as ot is the same building. I believe it was 5/6€. There is a QR code for an audio guide or they have laminated sheets in SP/EN/FR. There is a walk through the cloisters with several rooms displaying objects, the Pantheon with its decorated ceilings and a visit to the cathedral. Upstairs was one more room and the wall walk. Definitely worth the visit.

Beautiful Basílica with a lot of history. We were able to attend a special mass with a choir of nuns to celebrate that a new nun was taking her bows. The plaza in front of the church is very beautiful too.

Beautiful, more than 1000 years old church in unbelievably good condition. It has seat-heating as well, so you can enjoy it comfortably even during the chilly Leon winters.

The Basilica of San Isidoro is one of the most outstanding buildings in Leon. Built in Romanesque style it houses the Basilica that keeps the relics of San Isidoro de Sevilla, a monastery that is today an incredible charm hotel with rooms around its cloister, a museum and below the Royal Pantheon, one of the first examples of Romanesque Art in Castile. In addition to its architectonic value, there is a collection of frescoes , which can be said to convert it into the Sistine Chapel of the Romanesque period. A superb opportunity to contemplate frescoes of great quality and extension in situ. Under the same structure was located the first European parliament under the ancient kingdom of Leon, over 1100 years old .

Although it has to play second fiddle to the Cathedral it is a beautiful church in it's own right. Situated in an exquisite square on the Camino route out of Leon it is well worth a visit.
