One of “must see”. It is area of old Roman gold mine. They run two aqueducts to flush down entire mount. I think it was great environmental disaster of that times. Fortunately Nature reclaimed this place and rearranged it in great style. I can assure you that walking around you will be astonished. This place is so picturesque that I have had big problems which photos should I publish. My opinion you can skip one thing. “Lago”, means lake. I could hardly find something interesting about it. Don’t forget to take a lot of water with you!

Incredible experience! You can discover the gold mines along different trekking. Even you can visit a gold mine inside, by paying a ticket and following some instructions. Get ready to walk, get water with you and enjoy the amazing views. You can also try the traditional food in any of the restaurants in the village.

Once the largest and most productive gold mine in the Roman Empire, las médulas is a magical place, and well worth visiting. See the excavations and enter inside the tunnels used to excavate the gold. Parking is free and there's no charge to enter. The site is suitable for all fitness levels, but is not very wheelchair friendly.

Unique, precious, out of this world! This is how I dare to describe Las Médulas, in Spain. It's one of my favorite places in Spain. The reddish landscape, which beautifully contrasts with the green shades of the vegetation is just perfect.

This trail at UNESCO site Las Medulas is well worth the effort to get here. Just after the parking is the aula archeologica where you can get a small map and explanation over which route to take for the duration you want. We went to La Cuevona, whereafter i took the steep path upwards to the mirador de Orellan. Walking all the way up is really worth it. The views are stunning. Downside is that the Galeria is closed between 1400 and 1700. Don't try this when it rains, too slippery. And second tip when you're doen again after seeing the mirador take the same route via La Cuevona back as the other route is boring.

A fabulous informative talk from a brilliant guy at the information centre. His English was superb and he was extremely knowledgeable. He knew his stuff! The viewing platform at 7.00pm was a brilliant time to go up there. Very quiet, stunning. Definitely recommend this area. Loads of fantastic tracks for walking and cafés around.
